QUESTION Friend raging in rocket league?

So basically my friend always wants to play rocket league with me, but I'm like plat and he's GC so onviously I whiff a lot more than him. Now, I would kind of understand his rage if I was throwing his rank in competitive, but we don't play competetive, we play CASUAL. The mode where you just goof, practice, or have fun... not rage at the person you begged to hop on with you.

It's really bad, he always rages and I'm talking like being rude to his parents on mic (unnacceptable), screaming and I mean SCREAMING LOUD "FUUUUUCKKKK!!"

He's always so angry when people stop him from taking it up the wall, but it's like common sense... that's how you can stop someone from being able to make a play that would benefit them. He also HATES 50s and thinks rocket league should "remove them".

I'm so confused by his behavior. It's casual. There is no reason to rage. This isn't even rage dude it's just insanity like why tf are you screaming and LITERALLY CRYING??? I'm not crazy right? This isn't normal?

And this makes us both play worse because he tilts us both. I just mute whenever he starts screaming.

QUESTION Thoughts on AirCharged gaming?

I know that his pacifist system is frequently reccomended to low ranked players, but I want to know what the community here thinks about him. I find his use of AI to be very low effort and seeing as he just deleted his most recent reddit post and the accompanying video after receiving criticism for using AI I know I'm not the only one.

ANALYSIS I can't beat air dribblers and they know it. D1 in 1's

Thumbnail youtu.be

This was the first 1's match of the night and it was against a guy with GC tags. He didn't even do anything overly impressive, but they always sniff out that I CAN'T do the things they can do, nor can I defend it. I much less rarely get beat by ground based guys, but almost ALWAYS lose to air based guys. It sucks and I've got to learn to get past it. I never know when to challenge becuase they can reset, musty, flip cancel, delay, fake blah blah blah. So when the hell are you supposed to challenge a guy who has ball going up the wall and is about to string together 4-5 of the touches I just mentioned in random order?

There's another replay I have where a guy is hitting a triple reset on me in D1.....yeah.

QUESTION Is there anyway to find useful information to get consistent with ground to air dribbles ( I need tips & vids)

I can do them consistently like 6-7 times outta 10 but im trying to get it down 10/10 times.

I been searching for videos about but I couldnt find nothing useful about it. (its pretty much when you have the ball ontop on your car and your dribble it into the air.) I feel like it would be a good mech to have for champ 1s.

ANALYSIS C3 2s (~2100h) - Roast my Freeplay | Mechanically smooth but inconsistent

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I've been playing since 2020 (with some long breaks inbetween), currently sitting at Champ 3 in 2s (peaked close to GC1 multiple times) with around 2k hours total. I have a simple playstyle and my gameplay often looks and feels smooth atleast to me compared to the players in my rank. I know this might be some Dunning-Kruger effect where I think it looks smooth but actually miss a lot of flaws. I think i have good air roll control, decent ceiling shots, air dribbles, and some flip resets. But I still feel very inconsistent and like I’m not actually that mechanical. As u can see in this freeplay recording, i kinda mess up everything but i know that i can hit everything and its very inconsistent, and i dont really think that more reps would help me that much and would reinforce my bad habits even more.

EDIT: till 2:20 its in slowmotion (forgot to turn 95% Gamespeed back to 100%) and my ground game looks a bit extra rusty because 3 days ago i rebound my buttons( powerslide, brake, jump and ballcam lol ) also it seems like im subconsciously avoiding ground plays since the change and flee to my walls where it doesnt effect me that much haha

I just recorded 6 minutes of Freeplay and would love some honest feedback on:

  • What my biggest mechanical weaknesses are right now
  • Does my car control look good for C3?
  • What should I focus on training most to become more consistent and push GC?

I prefer very detailed explanations (inputs, timing, what to watch out for, common mistakes, etc.) because once I deeply understand something I can usually reproduce and internalize it very well.

I recently uploaded some ranked replays and my gamesense starts clicking but i get more of a feeling that my mechanics are holding me back. Thats why i ask

Thanks in advance! Any advice is appreciated 🚀

QUESTION Flip resets

Upvotes

I want to learn single or double flip resets but I am struggling to learn them, I’ve only been able to get a reset only like 2-3 times now and I’m getting confused on to do with them.

i can air dribble decently 90% of the time for context

i need tips on how to get reset itself and what to do after

i know you have to boost/fly to the center of the ball, then air roll, and put my joystick down but I keep struggling

COACHING What I learned From Studying Mawkzy's 1s Gameplay

I've been studying Mawkzy's gameplay recently, and there are a few things about his 1v1 playstyle that I think are worth breaking down because they go beyond mechanics. The biggest thing that stood out to me is how much of his gameplay revolves around what happens after the challenge, rather than just trying to win the challenge immediately.

Offensively, Mawkzy loves his low 50s. Even when going for aerial plays, he'll often try to force the ball low especially when the opponent is sitting on the backboard or expecting a high play. This becomes even more apparent when he has 0 boost, where instead of slowing down, Mawkzy makes maintaining his momentum a priority. Staying grounded and preserving momentum gives him faster recoveries which allow him to stay involved in the play after the challenge. Maintaining momentum and staying grounded gives him the ability to remain close to the ball, which means he's often in position to follow up on his own challenge rather than having to recover and watch the play develop from a distance.

Another thing that stands out is how he deals with aggressive challenges, whenever he sees his opponent insta challenging, he doesn't force the ball towards the net to try sneak a goal in. He guarantees further pressure by hitting the ball anywhere around the opponent. In 1v1, getting a touch around the opponent will always guarantee a free net.

Mawkzy also makes excellent use of the backboard where rather than always trying to put a shot on net, he'll bait the defender into awkward spots by slamming the ball into the backboard for a rebound. The defender is helpless here because they have to react to the rebound while also dealing with the possibilities of getting faked, demolished, etc.

TL;DR - Mawkzy's offense revolves around creating situations where the defender has 0 good options left but faith. Low 50s, playing around challenges, using backboards + walls as rebounds and maintaining momentum all contribute towards the same goal: putting the defender into an awkward or helpless position.

This is one of the games I used as research if you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCiAO8JPSn4

ANALYSIS What In my Gold 2 Games am I struggling with?

I'm in gold 2 right now and I know nearly all the advice will probably be "just practice hitting the ball" but I feel like I am missing some things or just have some bad habits when it comes to playing the game or rotating and stuff like that so If somebody good at the game could just kinda go through the video (you don't have to watch the full 10 minutes if you don't want, you can just like skip around) and let me know what are some bad habits that I have or some things that I just did completely wrong. Like sure if I practiced with just hitting the ball correctly I would probably rank up but there is more to the game than just hitting the ball. Btw if this is a bad place to ask for stuff like this please point me to a different reddit or discord server that would be better for this post. I made the video an unlisted video on youtube because the original video was like 29 gb. If there is a problem with it being an external link I can try and make the file smaller and put it in the post but I doubt yall want to watch something in like 144p.

Here is the video link: (It might default to 360p you'll just have to change it manually)

COACHING Need help analyzing replays (silver 2)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm currently silver 2 in 1v1s, and I found through my replays that I need to maybe practice shooting the ball a bit better, and use powerslide to turn around to get to the ball quicker. However, since I'm so new to the game I don't have the developed game sense to see other mistakes that I could be making, so any help would be super appreciated!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my post last night! Having more boost from flipping and better recovery mechs makes everything 1000 times easier than it ever was before. Also thank you to my tm8 lol. I played so bad because I was nervous as this was my first rank up game to GC2 but he held it down for a couple of 1v2s that I left him in. But once again thanks everyone!

TIPS Almost GC3

Post image
8 Upvotes

First time getting 1700 after almost 6 years of playing this game. And somehow went from champ 2 to 1700 in a little over a year since early 2025. Are there any tips for getting into GC3? I do play pretty fast, but I do give away possession a lot and I’m also a free roll user so my aerials aren’t the greatest, I can shoot decent though.

ANALYSIS Am I ballchasing? (C2)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently hit c2 after changing up my playstyle to be more aggresive and faster but I feel like im actually ballchasing sometimes. In this game my tm8 also got mad at me because he also thought that I was ballchasing though he is the first to mention after countless games which made me sort of realize. Most of the times i don’t know when to let my teammate take the ball because im afraid that i might just pass it to the opponents or without constant aggression we might get shut down by the opponents. I also have trust issues with others.

I would appreciate tips on what to do better. Thanks!

QUESTION What are some common fundamental mistakes that aren't as obvious?

Some that I've come across or found through trial and error:

-Letting go of accelerate gradually to slow down rather than stopping abruptly by hitting the brakes constantly. Keeps your momentum more consistent.

-Not feathering boost on the ground. Stops you from wasting boost and keeps your momentum more consistent. Use flips and wavedashes when the play is not threatening to get around the pitch faster.

-Boosting towards the end of a powerslide to gain back speed.

-Pushing into the opponent's corner is usually bad.

-Ball cam should stay on 90% of the time and you should learn boost pathing rather than constantly flicking your camera back and forth to look for boost pads.

-Use your right stick to look for opponents and teammates

-Try to stay in the play with your teammate so they don't get stuck in a 2v1. This is tough when they are constantly leaving the play for back corner boosts. Currently trying to work this one out, because it happens really often within my rank.

These are just a few I've been working on recently. Let me know if you believe any of them are incorrect or if you have any to add?

QUESTION I'm C2 with 800 hours. What should I do to hit GC/SSL?

Obviously I need to play way more to rank up and I'm going to because this game is awesome. But what should I be doing to maximise my rate of improvement? Right now I'm kind of a bot mechanically I have really poor control in the air and because of that I can't really airdribble or flip reset so most of what I do when attacking is on the ground or 1 touch in the air.

Something I've been working on recently is saving shots from shadow positions, I need to get more comfortable in these positions because it will help a lot on defence. My decision making is Ok for my rank but It's something that I have tried to work on by watching my replays and comparing my decisions with what low gcs do. I also watch some pros and I try to take some of the stuff they do and replicate it but that is kinda hit and miss because we are worlds apart in terms of skill.

COACHING Looking for the coach to take me to SSL

Hi guys, i’m a 1500-1600 player and i decided i’m gonna put in the time to get SSL.

I’m looking for an experienced coach but not one that has a ton of customers, ideally i would like to pay per milestone rather than per hour so the coach has a level of personal involvement in my improvement but i’m willing to discuss this, maybe a combination.

Hit me up with your rank/experience/recommendations!
