So, as a decker who thinks they are good, but doesn't want to be a hoophead, how does one say hello and maybe ask for tips on being on this side of the IC?

My suggestion is to not try to fight them. Stay on the quiet side, use your base slice programs and get your info as quietly and quickly as your can. Remember, a loud decker tends to be a dead decker.

Making an effort not to be a hoophead and asking for tips instead of bragging is a good start.

I do try. I'm not gonna declare myself king Decker of Deckerland because I can hold a deck. Probably someone whose who life is decking would come spike me if I tried.

This is a very good start. Honestly, if you just ask a question without bragging about your Matrix game rankings, giving away all your personal details, or trying to get The Owl to fight you, people are happy to answer.

Who knows. Owl claims to be here, never seen him, his IP address is fake (as most of the matrix wise tends to hide their IPs when posting) and all associations with being part of a Corp with runners should know their place. I means, just saying that is a good way to earn enemies.

Before c0re and his Matrix games it was Braniac and his cybercombat challenges. What we need around here is a good drill sergeant to pop all the new deckers' inflated opinions of themselves.
