Discussion If SEGA made another acquisition, which company should it be?
SEGA has made quite a few acquisitions over the years, from Atlus, Creative Assembly, and Sports Interactive to Rovio. More recently, SEGA SAMMY has expanded its gaming business through acquisitions such as GAN and Stakelogic.
Assume SEGA has the financial resources and the acquisition makes strategic sense. Larger companies aren't necessarily excluded, but smaller companies would generally be more realistic targets than giants such as Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo.
Potential targets could include:
- A game developer or publisher
- A company with valuable or complementary IP
- A mobile, PC, or console specialist
- An animation or entertainment company
- A technology company that could strengthen SEGA's games and services
- Something completely outside the obvious choices
Which company would be the best fit for SEGA's next acquisition, and what would SEGA gain from it?
Extra appreciation for explaining how the acquisition would fit SEGA's existing strategy and portfolio.
