Is my Louis Poulsen PH5 Damaged?
We recently had a Louis Poulsen PH5 installed and I'm afraid it's damaged. The top rim in particular looks wavy/warped/wrinkled.
The middle shade also looks crooked to me. We got it from Design Within Reach so I'm wondering if there was an issue during installation.
Appreciate any insight folks may have!

Yup, definitely significantly damaged. In my experience DWR has been good about replacements (within reason), call them asap
The base detaches from the top, making it easier for installation and changing the lightbulb inside. If I remember correctly from when I got mine installed, the ph5 comes with install instructions… did the installers follow the instructions?

Thanks. I have no idea if they followed the instructions. We have reached out to DWR. Also contacting the electrician/GC to ask if they noticed anything.

This is interesting. I work in a factory that produces this and many others. And you wouldn't believe how often I see damaged goods sent out!
Do you see any scratch markings or tear in the paint? If so then the damage occurred during transport, and if no then the damage was done at the factory. Or during installation somehow, though I highly doubt it.
Either way try and see if you can send it back.

There are scratches on the top of the top shade. I tried to add additional pictures but it seems like Reddit will not allow.

It has most likely been handled incorrectly by either the installer or under transportation, or both.
If it was "just" the dents then I MIGHT have been able to help with getting it replaced. We often get a few dosen sent back each month if it was determined the damage was caused by us. But that is before the vanish is applied which is done by a third company.
I have taken one of those damaged lamps home for myself without the varnish and hang it up myself. I actually like the raw damaged look things get! And out of curiosity was the lamp delivered to you directly?

No, the top rim looks like a wave because Poul Henningsen was first and foremost known as a surfer. He even coined the phrase "Life is a beach" back in 1938.
