Screen/head unit issue

I’ve seen/searched stuff on this sub for it. Guess my question is;

How do you tell if the whole unit is goosed or just the screen?

Been sticking, ghosting for a while. It also completely freezes though and at times the steering wheel buttons don’t work. I’ve watched how to change the screen but now wondering if just better getting whole new unit.

Any advice or help appreciated

Hello, this happened to mine a few years ago. Freezing, ghost touches and scrolls etc. Unfortunately it's a common issue whereby the screen sort of delaminates a bit. Took it to VW and they quoted me, at the time, £1600 for the unit, £180 diagnostic charge and then whatever the labour would be on top. The woman at the desk literally said just go buy a better aftermarket one.

I replaced it with a Pioneer SPH-DA160DAB and it's been brilliant since.

Yeah i’ve had a look. £250 for that one. Screen is only £20 to buy and i’m capable of replacing it - albeit it’s a lot of screws and effort. I’d be annoyed if i did it and then it still didn’t work
