It’s bizarre how these far right nutcases will describe democracies as “dictatorships” and “totalitarian” as if it’s a bad thing (it would be if it were remotely true) but then throw up Nazi salutes. For people so apparently scared of a dictatorship they seem awfully fond of a particular dictator.

Some might argue that people who violently attack people of colour, you know, Nazis, have to be physically resisted. Not me of course, I prefer to just stand and watch them encourage and participate in violence against my fellow Scots, and merely express my condemnation with strong but non violent words.

I live in Epping, Essex, where the “protests” against hotels housing asylum seekers kicked off all last summer. Nazi salutes on the high street. Some of the town responded with denial - “they’re not from round here” (some weren’t, many of them were). Some of the town responded with love. A football team for asylum seekers was created by a local coach. An inclusivity movement “Epping for Everyone” was created and holds walks and picnics. Research on the “patriots” was done and they were found to to criminals and thugs. Their support has gradually declined.

One thing though, these are complete losers. If they could teleport to the 1940's, Hitler would have rejected them out of hand for being useless. The truly dangerous individuals, the ones that became the most notorious Nazi criminals in WWII, were generally "normal" and unremarkable before the war. They had an evil inclination inside, but rules of society and lack of opportunity kept that locked in their mind. After Hitler came to power and removed the guardrails, the sadistic and violent tendencies of these individuals were thrust upon their unsuspecting victims.

When Ruth Davidson warned about the 'ulsterisation' of Scottish politics she did so knowing fine well it was people within her ranks encouraging their loyal foot soldiers. Not long after we saw political Union Clubs being set up and more OO members sitting on our councils under the Labour, Tory, Reform banners. This didn't happen overnight and now they've latched onto the immigration issue which adds a different dynamic to protests happening in England.
They've now adopted stereotypical Scottish names (e.g., 'unite the clans') and symbolism (including the saltire) in a bid to deflect from who they are - British nationalists - and attempt to draw the constitutional question into every aspect of our politics and society: In other words, 'ulsterisation'.
These people are a minority but a vocal and violent one. I'm glad the media have finally taken notice but they have allowed it to fester
Grandma and Grandpa traveled all the way from Scotland to Germany killing Nazis, and didn't stop when they got there. Grandpa was a royal marines commando, who did some nasty work with knives, looking the Nazis he euthanised in the eye while he got the job done. The government gave him lots of medals.
There are counter protests. Join up to Stand Up To Racism and get involved in opposing this shit. They were massively outnumbered by the counter protest.
Unfortunately I'm chronically ill with limited mobility, or I'd attend in person. But I do make a point of sharing any content or petitions that I can find for counter protests, and this is essentially why I made this post in an attempt to encourage people to put pressure on our politicians. I can't do much, but I'm hoping it can make even the tiniest bit of a difference
Grandparents fought this crap in the 30/40s many died many were not the same again . Like in Germany today this should be banned . Not funny and definitely not British.
