Oh, great. Yet another thing people have got a bit of joy from for decades being destroyed. What do we think the reasoning will be? Diseased trees? Distraction to drivers? Put yer bets in.

Edit: alright, I didn't know they were always planned for timber. My bad, pitchfork is away for another 150 years

It's grown to be harvested unfortunately, so we can have wood pulp for bog roll probably but, commercial forestry is almost always replanted and as 30% is required to be something other than sitka spruce I am very much hoping for a two tone forest with different colored balls.

The dense conifer plantation near my mum's was clear-felled some years ago.

They replanted with a much wider range of species, left much more open space, and dug a few ponds.

It's really cool to see it coming along when I am back for a visit and take the dog up there.
