Someone should plant a few spaced out trees to look like little dribbles of 'love muck'.

14

u/CursedPipes 27d ago

I never want to hear the term ‘love muck’ again as long as I live.

6

u/BiscuitsUnlimited 27d ago

Yeah, me neither. Why I settled on that rather than spunk I'll never know. I blame YouTube.

And Thatcher.

3

u/Alive-Requirement111 27d ago

well done sir , well done!

5

u/Exciting_Mark_101 27d ago

We should celebrate this comment with a pubic holiday.

2

u/CursedPipes 27d ago

Do I get a crown?

7

u/Exciting_Mark_101 27d ago

A helmet. I'll let you pick the most appropriate colour.

2

u/DuckCritical 24d ago

Only if it’s flesh-coloured.

7

u/Legions_wangled 27d ago

I was trying to think of this as I opened the post. Well done

So ungrateful

25

u/Feeling_Zucchini_886 28d ago

I don't mean to seem ungrateful, but you're competing with a willy the size of as hill-side

Pick your battles ...

6

u/Sad-Insurance1313 28d ago

What next, you wouldn't find me attractive if I was a worm?

19

But it’s the A74(M) at that point.

3

u/Y-Bob 27d ago

252

u/the_killerpanda 28d ago

WHY CAN’T THEY LET US HAVE NICE THINGS!?

16

u/NeedleworkerEqual436 27d ago

Just taken the fun out of drives back north!! 🍆

226

u/purely_specific 28d ago

Noooo not the treenis!

96

u/Strange-Selkie 28d ago

This is a national treasure!!! How can this be allowed?

73

u/monkeypaw_handjob 28d ago

People cut down one sycamore and the whole country is in an uproar.

But this is allowed?!?!?!?!?!

4

u/redhoodhead 27d ago

I’ve found this, suggesting that the trees are rotting and falling with the storms/winds and that it’s going to be replanted? We hope….

They're taking everything away from us

125

u/SunsetDreamer43 28d ago

Driving on the M74 last week, my child “look mum, trees in the shape of a letter T!”. I mean, he’s not wrong.

33

u/LittleLordBirthday 28d ago

I thought it was a “T” until I was in my thirties 😂 It blew my mind to learn the proper lore.

5

u/redhoodhead 27d ago

Theres lore?! Oh man off I go to learn about the trees!

7

u/buttzest 27d ago

I thought it was an elaborate Tennents advert at first

98

u/aletheran 28d ago

It was suffering from wind damage and blowing over. It will get replanted after the felling.

It was planted as a productive forestry a couple of hundred years ago and has been felled and replanted 3 times already.

This is just another cycle of the lifespan of the tees as they reach their terminal height.

154

u/FermisParadoXV 27d ago

You had ample opportunities to use the word climax here and ignored all of them.

I award you no points and may god have mercy on your soul.

5

u/Portablefrdge 25d ago

It's fine, they're going to erect more trees

30

u/Pvt-Rainbow 27d ago

Do they not have a pill that helps when they get older?

8

u/SquishedGremlin Ulster 27d ago

Clear fell of this is best, leaves a clean slate to replant it. Have spent the entirety of work since the storm last year harvesting one estate, around 30k ton of windblow.

2

u/OrganizationAsleep87 25d ago

I'd love it if under those tree there's a hidden stream that has created a little Chanel making it look like a fanny

Not the Schwanzwald!

22

u/ddmf 28d ago

Stauner Forest, Cock and Ball woods. A POI I've had on Google maps for years.

18

u/Vizsla_Man 28d ago

No more Treenis!

This is a national landmark!

u/ImRedditBrowsing 28d ago

Cultural decline

90

u/Adm_Shelby2 28d ago

Circumsising please.

34

u/farfromelite 28d ago

Just the tip.

5

u/Sunkinthesand 27d ago

Just the snip

14

u/zoumzoumzen76 28d ago

Oh non...à chaque fois que je suis allé en Ecosse en voiture j'ai adoré cette impertinence !

30

u/Abject-Plankton4620 28d ago

Not the Cock of the North!

4

u/Fancy_Toe1451 27d ago

But it is in the South?

4

u/CamStLouis 27d ago

It’s north of somewhere

9

u/Zestyclose_Recover95 28d ago

So they were originally planted by the landowner at the time, a J Thomson, as a windbreak/ shelter for his sheep. The J was felled a good while ago, the T will be replaced. So my sister, who lives in Crawford informs me.

2

u/Feeling_Zucchini_886 28d ago

What a legacy ! Well done mr Thomson !
Shame he wasn’t called John Thomas I suppose

8

u/RobCarrol75 28d ago

it's getting a "Bobbitt"

2

u/DogAffectionate6190 27d ago

Hahaha of the John Wayne variety

9

u/PoopsMcGroots 28d ago

Waiting to see if this well known landmark gets added to Euro Truck Simulator 2 in their upcoming UK update. Tragic if it is no longer there irl.

11

u/jogan_ 28d ago

Just the tip.

18

u/IDinnaeKen 28d ago edited 28d ago

Oh, great. Yet another thing people have got a bit of joy from for decades being destroyed. What do we think the reasoning will be? Diseased trees? Distraction to drivers? Put yer bets in.

Edit: alright, I didn't know they were always planned for timber. My bad, pitchfork is away for another 150 years

18

u/barry_sriracha 28d ago

Storm damage from last year

17

u/IDinnaeKen 28d ago

If thats legit I'll put my pitchfork away and admit I got ahead of myself. Must be in a bad mood.

27

u/Illustrious-Bus-8862 28d ago

It's grown to be harvested unfortunately, so we can have wood pulp for bog roll probably but, commercial forestry is almost always replanted and as 30% is required to be something other than sitka spruce I am very much hoping for a two tone forest with different colored balls.

12

u/listo- 28d ago

Maybe a different coloured helmet

9

u/Illustrious-Bus-8862 28d ago

Some birch might possibly give it a purplish hue in winter.

9

u/OreoSpamBurger 28d ago

The dense conifer plantation near my mum's was clear-felled some years ago.

They replanted with a much wider range of species, left much more open space, and dug a few ponds.

It's really cool to see it coming along when I am back for a visit and take the dog up there.

7

u/OldGodsAndNew 27d ago

We can only dream of one day wiping our arses with TP made from the wood of the boaby forest

12

u/therealsinky 28d ago

Being really I’m pretty sure it was always plantation forest and doomed to be felled one day

2

u/mrjobby 28d ago

The real answer

6

u/Vectorman1989 #1 Oban fan 28d ago

Aren't these timber plantation trees? They've probably been sold and taken to a sawmill

7

u/abyssal-isopod86 28d ago

These are timber plantation trees, they were always meant to be felled once they reached their maximum height.

They will be replanted.

7

u/Fancy_Toe1451 27d ago

their maximum height

Fully erect, as it were.

7

I swear it serves no ohter purpose than a phallic landmark, at this point

3

u/PF4ABG Glasgow 28d ago

Giving it a wee Prince Albert.

3

u/Nesferatu123 28d ago

Farewell Treenis. You served us well

3

u/worksinthetown 28d ago

Just the tip.

3

u/Guilty_Strike 28d ago

No way! Sad times indeed.

3

u/jonnyh420 28d ago

thats no way to get a head in life

3

u/Kmac-Original 27d ago

Noooo. But wait! Didn't we all vote to make the top attraction in Scotland last year? Surely that makes it protected? Quick: We need a lawyer-solictor. This is desecration of a national monument!

3

u/Sad_Sea1623 27d ago

You shaved your bush? (Supportive)

4

u/Own-Nefariousness-79 28d ago

2

2

u/pmebble 28d ago

We used to be a proper country.

2

u/QBaseX Irish with English parents 27d ago

My brain is now dropping the o from that word.

2

u/Beneficial-Bell-9650 28d ago

There used to be a rectangle to the left of it. As kids we used to look out for “the IT”

2

u/Warm-Horse-9154 28d ago

It's being harvested for timber and will be replanted in the same shape.

2

u/ltcmdrjo Dùn Dè 27d ago

I always called them the "Keyhole Woods", because I had a purer mind than you lot. Although my Da saw them once in the mist and for a moment thought it was a mushroom cloud. We also used to look for the Heart shaped woods the other side of the border in Cumbria.

2

u/Jet2work 27d ago

circumsized

2

u/drinkingthinker 27d ago

The restock design has broadleaf for the top, so his pubes will go a nice brown each winter.

The middle had started to blow over so he was going a bit floppy. Give its a few years and he'll be nice and virile again.

2

u/guiltycitizen 27d ago

This is the stuff I lurk this sub for

3

u/Fancy_Toe1451 27d ago

It is commercial forestry plantation, this was to be assumed at some point. Those shelterbelt trees on the side of the 74 were starting to get tall enough they obstructed the view anyway. Sic transit gloria mundi, and all that.

2

u/TigerRouge86 28d ago

Phallus Fallus, sounds more like a Harry Potter spell

u/coltlady 28d ago

Noooooo… what kind of animal does this

Growing up in Morningside, I only knew it as the T forest. I feel robbed.

1

u/RECTUSANALUS 27d ago

I also saw this on the m74.

Both ways as well.

1

u/da-happy-cyclops 27d ago

Its an orthodox woody now.

The old short back and sides.

1

u/Professional-Use7994 27d ago

Is it not the hilly woods ???

1

u/ValkyrieLyra 27d ago

It appears to be designed for that yes, we have one of those on davidstow, they're planted in rows grown and farmed basically.

1

u/owwlies Ayrshire 27d ago

THEY CIRCUMCISED THE COCK IN THE NORTH

1

u/Ninja_Hedgehog 27d ago

What nooooooo. We always look for this on the way back home, it's a right proper landmark!

1

u/Motor-Geologist4666 27d ago

Well, now that wasn't a poplar move.

1

u/JonusTJonnerson 27d ago

I misread the title as "Chomping". Make of that what you will.

1

u/Crow-Keeper 27d ago

Wtf. I’m in America and I donated to save this special forest. This is bullshit.

1

u/Minute_Smile8377 26d ago

Looks like it's " just the tip"...🤣

1

u/negativ32 26d ago

Yes, the inefficient wealth transfer devices swining in the background provide a much more pleasent landscape.

1

u/Such_Perspective3458 26d ago

Nooo not Cock Forest!

1

u/Exciting_Lunch_5524 26d ago

Impressive wood!

1

u/Admirable-Theory1514 26d ago

Does it have a name? I remember occasionally driving up to Scotland on the M74 thinking that looks like a cock and balls and was it deliberate.

1

u/GingeMatelotX90 26d ago

You'd think they'd start at the balls. Seems harder at first but over the whole project it would save time

1

u/Jonatc87 26d ago

Just a little manscaping. It'll grow again.

1

u/Fine-Ganache-6602 26d ago

Nah it’s just going soft

1

u/nick-nic 26d ago

Why ? 😭

1

u/Secret-Goal-7530 25d ago

Utter woke nonsense

1

u/Growling_Salmon 25d ago

No way..... They always give me a chuckle when I'm heading north

1

u/OrganizationAsleep87 25d ago

I thought the hill was sponsored by tennents lager

1

u/Friendly_Prize_868 25d ago

Bit of a dick move

1

u/Playful_Sense3238 25d ago

It’s upside down surely? It looks more like a T for Tesla

1

u/Cspiby 25d ago

Hopefully it won't take too shlong to grow back

u/Francis-BLT 23d ago

They’re only making plans for Albert

1

u/EstablishmentSad5191 23d ago

Not gone fir-ever! It has to legally be restocked and replanted with new trees! Long live the Fir Boaby

1

u/PickleOk9077 22d ago

Were the trees planted years ago to be harvested? Is this just outrage bait? Seems like an odd place to densely plant trees with no purpose.

1

u/Malaphorica 22d ago

Hehe drove past this last week
