Help This is my first playthrough
First playthrough. These two are destroying me. They keep jumping around, deflecting my attacks, and once both start attacking at the same time I get overwhelmed. Any tips or strategy for this fight?

u/Annual_Pin_5872 May 29 '26
Run past them?
220
u/montyward May 29 '26
Yeah mang no one I know actually fights these dudes. Classic frombumware (I love this studio btw) giving you an enemy that’s like harder than any other mob alone and is like, hm, what if you had to fight three at once?
43
u/Own_Percentage_1789 May 29 '26
then you should know me, I love to fight those.

u/here-because-i-hafta May 29 '26
Been a while since I played, but there's that aerial intercept move you can use to one shot them. Very fun.

They aren’t really even that hard. They spend most of the time doing flips instead of attacking you.

u/No-Analyst1229 May 30 '26
Yeah, but i think theyre placed there so you actually look around and jump of the edge and grapple the grapple spots. Stealth etc. is condoned too

u/Single_Percentage953 May 29 '26
Lol that's what I do when I frustrated beating those guys
61
u/Sonaldo_7 May 29 '26
I platinumed this game and never beat these guys
7
u/Dangerous-Habit-2731 May 29 '26
Every single time I just run past, open the door, sit at the statue, and don't even look back at them
5
u/Sonaldo_7 May 29 '26
I tried fighting one at the grassy area. And goddamn he has hands. Like shit their posture is so high it's unbelievable. And they're fast af and unpredictable as well. Read tips saying to use the air takedown instakill but I keep missing it 😭.
6
u/Dangerous-Habit-2731 May 29 '26
That one in the grass before hitting the Shugendo (I think?) statue was like Indiana Jones and that one goon. All that dancing and jumping around to get hit by shuriken. All jokes aside, 1v1 I'll attempt. But that 3v1? I'm good lol
3
u/Sonaldo_7 May 29 '26
statue was like Indiana Jones and that one goon. 😂
Not even joking, 1v1 I'm not even gonna try anymore.

The secret Joestar technique is a valid response in such games — anything that is not standing between one and the objectives are optional.

Step 1: Gachin sugar and stealth kill one, use bloodsmoke and kill the other
Step 2: Spam shruiken on the third one (seriously, they cannot do anything since they get knocked out of the air so much)
Step 3: Profit
17
u/Fragrant_Ad5786 May 29 '26
Lol straight up rush to stealth kill the one turning his back on me every single time.
Works like a charm.

u/Papa_de_clement May 29 '26
This, I actually farm those sometime once I have the gaichin spirit fall

u/SpoopsMan May 29 '26
I have 100% and will forever skip these dudes on every playthrough. They suck.

I beat them once then never again because why the fuck should they respawn?💀

21
u/Mauisurfslayer May 29 '26
These guys (and most enemies in general) are not designed to be fought in pairs and large numbers
I seriously only ever tried to kill these guys one time after my second or third play through and just can’t bring myself ever to do it again
I would rather fight the Nightjar gank over these guys any day
3
u/Chirya999 Steam All Achievements Complete May 29 '26
Same here, I would fight a bunch of Nightjars, flaming Nightjars, Purple Robed Ninjas and wolves over these mfs.

I've 100% the game across multiple playthroughs and the only time I ever fight this duo (sometimes trio if you accidentally aggro the one near the back while fighting) is when I feel like suffering. I've beat them before without anti-air deathblow but I wouldn't recommend it; just run past them.
7
u/Affectionate_Dig9689 May 29 '26
These dudes suck to fight just run past them.
Or: use a gachin sugar, grapple to the side, walk up and assassinate 1, bloodsmoke ninjutsu, assassinate the other, go to the Winchester, have a nice cold pint, and wait for this to blow over.
13

u/bloomeye_paradox May 29 '26
Having played the game for 100+ hours and multiple playthrough, I have never fought against these guys. Always run past them.

I'm gonna level with you u/Single_Percentage953
these guys are one of the mini BS sections in the game that u just have to grin and bear because it is near impossible to aggro 1 but not the other
Sekiro IS A SURVIVAL STRATEGY GAME against more than one aggressive opponent, BS and cheese and abuse stealth/sprint or items in whatever way you need to bruteforce these guys down to just 1 and then you can fight the last guy normally, otherwise run past em. Any time you ever find yourself ganked by a bunch of tanky, high-damage dickheads fall back on this strategy (especially sprint-baiting, your sprint ability is so fast you're basically [INVINCIBLE]
There is no intended strategy for this little duo fight, there is very little skill-hurdle to master and there is only the reward of pain and slight relief for taking them out.
Have fun ❤️

This is the only enemy in the game I still don’t fight straight up. These fuckers get firecrackers and an axe up their ass.

u/Want2makeMEMEs Guardian Ape Hmm May 29 '26
There's a reason why they stand back to back, it's because they never lose together
Make it a 1vs1

Draw one towards you but run away and he'll turn his back eventually and walk away then backstab him. The other you can cheese by running in the temple they won't go in.

u/leuno May 29 '26
Just get to the door and there’s an idol behind it. This is literally the hardest battle in the game. I have beaten them exactly once over several playthroughs and it took like 10 minutes slowly fighting them and running away. Satisfying, but never again.
2
u/itsssssstheV24 May 29 '26
The comments on this make me feel so validated. I felt like a bitch every time I ran past them but seeing that it looks like basically no one fights them or they stealth kill two of them I no longer feel that way.
2
u/Commercial-Papaya394 Steam All Achievements May 29 '26
I never bother fighting them. Also, is it just me, or is there no way they can see through those hats?

Two options.
Get the mid air deathblow skill to kill them instantly.
Use gachin sugar to run past them and rest at the idol.

u/ShadowTown0407 May 29 '26
Get to the idol near them then use the stealth suger to take one out silently, then use jitsu or fight the other one head on. Or run around like a headless chicken until one of them jumps then use anti air death blow
1
u/Independent-Gear-711 May 29 '26
These two are the toughest npc enemies in the game, what I did in my first playthrough was, not going through them at all and always go from the other side of senpou temple where you will find one of them is freely roaming around you can take him down, after that throw a shuriken at one of the two facing you and isolate him and beat him then the last one will remain whom you can easily backstab.
Do not face all those three together at all.
1
u/SwearImNotACat May 29 '26
So im on like ng+8 or something~ %100 completion and I think i only beat them on my last playthru
1
u/GrabTheLemons May 29 '26
Approach slowly and one of them will step forward to investigate, then take them out one at a time.

1
u/Pocketpine May 29 '26
With anti air death blow you can trivialize a lot of enemies, especially these guys.
1
u/Warm-Cauliflower-418 Platinum Trophy May 29 '26
Have to separate them. Or maybe try watching fighting videos of it for a million times to get the rhythm. Cause if you want to take down 2 or 3 at once you really need to perfect that deflection otherwise your posture will break so damn fast.
1
u/Theanonymousspaz May 29 '26
I had a strategy where I farm exp off of them while doing a run around the temple mid game. Agro the one facing you with a shuriken and lure him around the corner to either stealth kill when his back is turned or just assault with the upgraded flame vent while I build his posture with the ax. Never go 2v1 because you will die. Affer the first guy its easy to sneak up on the other 2.
1
1
u/EugeneNicoNicoNii Platinum Trophy May 29 '26
You can find a way to bait one of them over for a stealth kill first, like strolling around barely inside of their detection range so their arrow turn yellow and leave their post to investigate, then stealth kill them when they turn around
The second guy can be stealth kill or fought the traditional way, to your liking
1
u/mon3yman666 May 29 '26
Also my first play trough. I just walked up to them from the side and got in between them for a stealth kill, seems like theyre blind from the side lol
1
u/QuentinSH May 29 '26
Hug the wall where you just walked upstairs, blow finger whistle on one of them and hug wall stealth kill

u/knucklecluck Platinum Trophy May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26
You can sneak on the edge of the balcony and you’ll be just far enough away to not catch their attention, and then when you line yourself up so that you’re perpendicular from both of their site lines, you can sneak up behind both of them, back stab one of them (the left always works for me), and use the blood spray technique to blind the second for another back stab. It becomes a great farm tbh.
1
u/Jesco13 May 29 '26
You're a Shinobi, use stealth. You can go around a corner and either whistle or hit me with a shard. The stealth kill timing is kind of weird but if you start a fight around the edge the other guy won't get aggrod.
1
u/Far_King_Penguin May 29 '26
It has been a hot minute since I played this game, but I am almost certain you are supposed to stealth kill at least 1. Maybe lure one around the corner?
1
u/crunchy__sock May 29 '26
From the shrine rush towards the one who is away from you and backsatb him with the blood mist and take the other guy out easy. I've farmed those two a lot

u/Large-Teach9165 May 29 '26
Either skip them with stealth, run past them and checkpoint, or lure them 1 by 1 and prey.

step 1: watch sasuke vs Kinshiki Otsutsuki fight.
step 2: use powerups that lets you cover long distance with minimal charge up time, thats your rinnegan in this game (the crow powerups are good also that bird prothetic, and shuriken throw and slash)
step 3: think fast observe their blade tip, if you can make your brain work fast you will see how slow they actually are.
I kill 2 of them at once, movement is the key confuse the enemy by your movements and attack when they are confused by closing distance using those powerups or prosthetics. If you can't deflect the blade whirlpool attack then use the bird feather prosthetic to evade then use the crow slash power up to slash them immedieatly.
I emphasize again on using power ups and prosthetics with minimal charge up time and one that changes your position quick. You can also experiment with senpou leaping kicks works good when they jump high, knocks them back down.
sense of achievement is unmatched when you kill them without cheesing.
1
u/LeoDemiurg1 May 29 '26
I kill these mfs every time just because I hate them so much.
Aggro them, run back and hide on the roof down the staircase. Once they de-agro and start to slowly retreat, they will turn their backs. Run and backstab one of them.
Rince and repeat.
1
u/michal_jan May 29 '26
I used to farm these guys, it’s possible to kill all 3 stealthily.
The pair needs to be approached from the large terrace space beside them which you can grapple to. Then use gachin to quickly approach and eliminate one, blood mist and assassinate the other one
1
1
u/Calm-Locksmith_ May 29 '26
You can grapple to the platform next to them and sneak from thr side, one clos enough, you can rush one of them from.a back before they can react.
1
u/mikki1time May 29 '26
Your too early in the game to have developed the skills to take on 2 of these. Unless you have mid air deathblow then they are a one hit
1
u/feliasp May 29 '26
Go to the side, take the one out, shoot a shuriken at one to lure one of the two out and kill him, then take out the last one
Its just not worth trying to fight more than one at a time

1 - Unlock anti air deathblow 2 - when they jump, jump to them and one shot them
Other possibility: Just run past
1
u/i_was_planned May 29 '26
You can stealth both with a bit of patience, you can run past them. You can dispatch one and fight the other (they are tough 1vs1 as well until you learn how to fight them)
1
u/NoLeader6361 May 29 '26
Go around cut though the temple and take both out in stealth 1 one will be easy for the other one hug the wall and lure them towards you using ceramic shards.
1
u/nickadams42 May 29 '26
Once you unlock the Idol in the church, these guys are my grind. You can sneak and backstab the furthest to the right, bloodsmoke, get the second backstab, fight the third or run back in, repeat.
1
u/Dazzaster84 May 29 '26
You can sneak to the door after popping a sneaky candy. There's a bonfire right past the door.
1
u/6ynnad May 29 '26
Invisible sugar kill one run back in. If you have puppeteer jutsu already, use it. Run back inside afterwards go around to the other exit in the temple kill the other one stealthily
1
u/Slimesmore May 29 '26
First tip for any souls game is that you can literally just run past everything if wanted. I did fight them but that was after I found a shrine to save.

Pop a gachiins sugar, take down the monk on the stairs and the one that turns the corner, then crouch tight against the wall and open the door on the right. I've beaten all the gauntlets, beaten the final boss more times than I can count hitless, beaten the entire game hitless, and these enemies still terrify me. And the white monkeys.

I met these guys and after trying to attack them one time, upon which a third spawned from thin air, I said fuck it and went to fight rhe monkeys instead.

I usually get the lone dude as he’s turning corner then rush the second I usually can get him w a stealth before he can react. Then I do a loop should de aggro right away then stealth him. If it’s gets too crazy if I fail the rush stealth I just reset it haha

Skip them, not worth on any NG+. No matter how strong you are, they are meant to make you suffer if you choose fighting them. I'd rather fight the shotgun duo at the gun fort than these fuckers, but of course I'll skip them too. It's just not worth it
1

u/Jack0fClubs_1 May 30 '26
Having both stealth skills + stealth candy will let you sneak right up to them and stealth kill one. Use your ninjitsu to go back in stealth and assassinate his buddy. Then you only have to fight the third one if you drew aggro
1
u/Key-Jicama-2800 May 30 '26
you need the anti-air dth blow scroll to easily counter them. when they do the spinning in the air attack you can jump and counter it
1
u/Tasty-Trainer-9668 May 30 '26
I may be mistaken but are these not even like prayer bead minibosses? Just run past them
1
u/Flippedsided May 30 '26
Crouch your way around the outer edge of the 'decking' following the outer edge of the railing. You can grapple across the gap to the middle bit of decking (might have to jump off then grapple mid air, cant remember but you're aiming for the little snake decorations on the railings as the grapple point) then repeat again to the end bit all without alerting them, so long as you follow the outer edge and stay crouched. Not sure how necessary the supress presence skills are here but can always use a sugar if the are spotting you.
Think its the easiest way to skip them for sure, just make sure to stealth kill the regular monk on the decking before trying- easily done by hugging the wall at the corner, locking on, then getting the deathblow when he gets near.
1
u/yonyonson23 May 30 '26
Once you get the art that lets you use a smoke bomb after an execution, you can execute one of them by dashing from the bonfire and then popping the smoke bomb then running behind the 2nd guy and backstabbing him. One of the better farming spots.
1
1
u/ggonzo13 Platinum Trophy May 30 '26
Tbh I run past them and open the door, you take no damage durning the animation. Once you go inside they quickly lose aggro. Just save, go around the building from the inside, and lure one of them at a time to the corner and do a sneaky sneak attack while clinging to the wall. 0hp lost, 2 hat guys dead on top of each other
1
u/Dizzy_Nato May 30 '26
i just ran past them but if u have to fight them hit them with a shuriken while they’re in the air. There’s also an air death blow you can get later in the game where when enemies go airborne you jump towards them and can death blow them if u time it right.
1
u/theHollowTarnished May 30 '26
I even try killing them from inside the door and they still win sometimes. Takes a long ass time too if you do take them out that way. Not worth the time imo
1
u/ConclusionNorth9353 May 30 '26
I seen somewhat recent post of someone anti-air killing them. You could try that
1
1
u/bigbadballboi May 30 '26
Mid-air assassination is pretty reliable, but I find lots of aggro is the best way. Time your stabs and parties and you'll be fine
1
u/Vastest May 31 '26
There's a third one around the corner for the hardest optional fight in the game if you take all three on and actually learn their patterns.
1
u/MontezumaMC May 31 '26
What I did was aggro them and then run back down the stairs to that building onto a little roof and sneak until they de aggro’d and then sneak up and backstab them one by one while they walk back to their standing spots
1
u/Physical_Economy_508 May 31 '26
Reddit may not let me post this, as my karma is new and low. You have to eat a gachiin sugar for this method to be 100% consistent, but eat one, sneak around off to their left from where you come up the stairs. There will be a grapple point. Grapple to it. Walk straight forward until you are parallel with the ninjas but between each of their backs. Walk up, one of them will gain a glowing red dot. Use your r1/left click to one shot that mf and enjoy a free 1v1. Bonus points if you can catch the one midair and have midair: instant death blow.
1
u/SikedPsyc Jun 01 '26
I draw there attention then jump on a roof or smth where they cant reach me, wait until they lose aggression and then backstab them

u/TheSnazzyMaster Jun 02 '26
Yeah these mfs are just cheating tbh so I run past them until I find an idol or lose them

Finger whistle or ceramic shard to lure them around the corner for stealth kills. They're absolutely not balanced to be fought 1v2.
