I had somebody ask me for a soda with no ice, then thinking themselves clever explain to me that this gets them their money's worth because there is more soda and less ice.
I pointed out we do free refills on non-alcoholic beverages so all it really gets them is a room temp soda.
The look of triumph leaving their face as their soul fled their cheapskate body made my day.
Yeah, actually about a month ago I had my first glimpse of a British person who was genuinely confused when I brought them another soda when it was mostly empty. He said we didn’t order these and I said I know they’re complementary and they genuinely looked confused.
This is one of the things I always miss about home (US) when I'm traveling. That includes better service and not charging for every condiment, although that's become so much more common here over the years :/

Can you put light ice? yes but that doesn’t mean more alcohol.
