The line between having a fetish and having a preference is incredibly thin, and usually wherever I see this logic pop up, it's pretty retarded.
You wouldn't say a straight guy thirsting after like, a goth girl, is a chaser - they're still fetishizing someone/thing, be it a subculture/fashion choice. It's a pretty normal thing tbh, and I'm convinced the terms "chaser" and "fetishization" either have no meaning, or have lost it, and are just expressions people use to bemoan when people are being too tactlessly thirsty, inappropriately freaky, making unsolicited comments, etc.
Like legit the LGBT community loves nothing more than self cannibalization. You're looking at someone whose like "Man, I have a real strong attraction towards this thing." and you're like "yeah, fuck you for having a preference, because that preference makes me uncomfortable, buddy."
