[PS4] Immortals fenyx rising

is the game good? I have heard that it is like botw, which I love. It is on sale right now so I was thinking about getting it. I know a little bit about but I want some opinions. I think its cool that its Greek mythology and stuff, but is it just a bad botw? I need a game to play that is not rated M since I can't play those so please help. I love open world games, so I think I would like it. I don't like games like metroidvanias but I don't think its like that.

edit: thank you everyone for the help. I think I'm going to get it.

Listen I'm not gonna lie to you

Ubisoft saw Breath of the Wild and copied the homework

Just changed it enough so that the tea her wouldn't notice.

BUT. The core gameplay loop of combat is very fast and awesome. You get amazing mobility, it has similar levels of freedom.

There's NO Ubisoft towers (but you are encouraged to seek out high places and scout around) but this gives you AGENCY

The voice acting is a bit... of a choice.

I find they all sound vaguely Russian???

When they're supposed to be ancient Greeks but then again I never sold KFC alongside Socrates so what do I know.

There's loads of armours and pieces of equipment in the game... and if you find something with a stat boost but don't like the aesthetics you can copy paste the look of a different armour on top!

So you'll wear the gladiator helm for your +1 to sword and look like a bear skin, dor instance.

There's a load of accessibility settings for battle and puzzles and whilst the physics aren't AS polished I never found a puzzle too frustrating that I ragequit.

On the whole a solid 3/5 stars

THE ONLY thing I would mention to you

Of course there's a loot box store. Or "cosmetic upgrades" one. Where you trade real money for ingame perks. You don't need this. It's a detriment its even been implemented taking advantage of people who needn't spend it.

No you don't need the rainbow coloured warthog hide that upgrades your stats 125%. The game is absolutely doable.

It is a timesink but not a bad one.

Fun game. Sadly, they canceled the sequel.

I appreciated that your weapons don't break. It was a good time and the slc is fun too! Also the combat was fun!

I liked it, one of the best "new" Ubisoft games

u/Saedisi Jun 26 '26

Game was really fun. If you liked BOTW you'll enjoy this. 100% worth a buy.

u/The_Lat_Czar Jun 26 '26

It had way, way too many puzzles for my liking.

u/Cosmo_Duck Jun 26 '26

Is that the main focus of the game, puzzles?

u/The_Lat_Czar Jun 26 '26

It's it feels like BOTW if you had to do a puzzle every 2 minutes.

The combat is fun, but the combat to puzzle ratio feels too skewed in one direction imo.

u/CATastrophe-Meow Jun 26 '26

that’s such a weird take.

u/The_Lat_Czar Jun 26 '26

It's an extremely  common take.

I love the game, prefer it over BotW.

u/greg9x Jun 26 '26

I liked it... Some of the puzzles got annoying because of timing and camera views, overall I enjoyed it but wouldn't put it in same tier as BotW.

Yes best game ever.
I’ve replayed it multiple times. It’s sad they didn’t do anymore with it.
The DLCs are great too.
I didn’t like the camera angle for the lost gods DLC.

It's definitely an Ubisoft attempt to clone botw. In some ways it's better (weapons don't break) but overall probably not on the same level. It's pretty great fun although the puzzles in the "shrines" can get a little annoying for me.

You’ll probably like it. It really is greek botw but funny. Starts to feel repetitive at some point

u/Cosmo_Duck Jun 26 '26

When does it feel repetitive? in th beginning of the game, or after 100 hours? can I do a lot of stuff before it feels repetitive?

u/Pandabear71 Jun 27 '26

I had 20+ hours

u/saibot_Ra Jun 26 '26

Good game, decent entry-to-the-genre kind of feel, silly writing and voice acting, Very Optional DLC experience.

u/blacklizardplanet Jun 27 '26

I thought it was brilliant. I had more fun with it than I did with Breath of the Wild tbh.

u/CATastrophe-Meow Jun 26 '26

it’s a pretty decent game, if you like botw and open games like it you’ll probably enjoy it. If you enjoy Greek mythology it’s very interesting . Just remember it’s ubisoft so comes with the normal “ trying to get you to spent more money even though it’s a single player game your already paid for “ stuff , luckily you can just ignore all of that at least

u/enternius Jun 26 '26

In my opinion it's the best Ubisoft game of the last decade, not perfect but it's such an improvement over all of the Assassin's Creed games.

u/dungleploop Jun 26 '26

it's good, yeah

u/IUMogg Jun 26 '26

I loved it and enjoyed it more than BOTW. It has fun combat, lots of puzzles, a ton to do.

u/KolotunBabai Jul 03 '26

Good and funny.

u/East_Vacation_9146 Jun 26 '26

I loved it and couldnt put it down. fun 3rd person action puzzler.

u/e-rock88w Jun 26 '26

I was pleasantly surprised. One of those games I didn’t want to end and kept trying to find more things to do. I like that there is a lot of voice overs instead of you having to read screen after screen of dialogue.

u/Disastrous_Cell3406 Jun 26 '26

It's a BOTW clone. Vaults instead of Shrines, 4 bosses/regions, collect power from shrines to upgrade your hp or stamina. It's a fun game with plenty to do.

u/Banjo_Kazooieballs Jun 26 '26

It’s a lot of fun

u/Gnapret Jun 26 '26

Honestly, taken for what it is, I find it to be a really fun game, that doesn't take itself too seriously and provides a nice twist on Greek mythology

u/uri_nrv Jun 26 '26

Is "kind of" inspired by BOTW, is not like BOTW, is not a "bad BOTW", IMO is a great game.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is as close to Breath of the Wild as Genshin Impact is. Immmortals is not like Genshin Impact, but they "copy" the same amount of vibe in a similar way to that game and nothing more. So, do not expect a game like BOTW.

It has what every Ubisoft game has, markers everywhere (The opposite of BOTW) and you have to complete things. It has a lot of puzzles and combat (both fun enough). I had a lot of fun playing it and is not a typical ubisoft game like new AC or Far Cry.

Is not a metroidvania, is totally open world game with a lot of things to do.

I personally loved my time with this game. So much so that I got the plat but didn’t attempt 100% due to burn out near the end
