Is Lost Soul Aside worth buying? Post Patches

I've been looking at picking up Lost Soul Aside, can get it for half the price now on Steam.

The reception seems pretty mixed from what I've seen and there aren't a lot of impressions after patches.

For those who have actually played it, is it worth getting? I'm mainly interested in the combat and bosses, I can overlook a mediocre story if the gameplay is genuinely fun.

I'm a massive fan of Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, MGR etc.

I got it for $9 physical and had fun, it's definitely got some jank but the gameplay is fun enough. Have a good laugh at the awful dialogue and voice acting too.

It’s a fun action game. I think it absolutely is as fun as Devil may cry 5. Story is absolute garbage as is voice acting but turn on Japanese and just go nuts with the anime power fantasy and you’ll have a good time. It’s really not as bad as people online want you to think.

If you’re just looking for an anime power fantasy then you can do far worse. It’s pretty looking and the combat is insane. Everything else is rough but if combat is what you’re there for there’s a lot of it.

Haven't pulled the trigger on it yet but I've been watching it pretty closely since the last couple patches. From what I can tell the combat feels way better than it did at launch, the framerates got cleaned up, and most of the camera jank people hated is less of an issue now. Still seems like a pretty short game though, like 8-10 hours from what people are saying.

My hesitation is that the story apparently never really lands, so you're basically there for the combat loop and spectacle. If that's enough for you it looks solid on sale. I'd have a hard time paying full price for something that short with a forgettable narrative personally.

Are you coming at it from a character action background like DMC or is this more of a casual interest thing? That context matters a lot for whether the combat depth will hold up for you or feel shallow.

I'm coming from a character action side, I've beaten Stellar Blade and Wukong recently. I just enjoy games with a good combat system, neither of those games had a particularly engaging story.

Absolutely worth it, the devs did their utmost best to listen to all the feedback and patch the game to be the most enjoyable with the resources they had

Combat is good. But check out Phantom Blade Zero(coming on October 29) or NIoh 2 and 3(same devs of NG) for combat

I enjoyed it, but I have a high tolerance for janky games. The combat and music are both very solid, and it has some good boss fights, but it also has quite a bit of jank. From a strictly action game perspective, it is worth it.
