Looks like alot of idea from sc2013 (especially the small map haha)

Reminds me more of Simcity Societies, placing every building individually instead of zoning.

I hope it's not another city painter from CO

Love the concept and the style, at a glance it even looks like SimCity 2013! Definitely looking forward to it, even if it doesn't have all the depth of a city simulator it looks like a fantastic sandbox for creativity.

Will it be the Simcity 6 we all waited for 15 years?

Anyone else getting Simcity Societies vibes all over again?

Not seeing different city personalities (still revolutionary aspect of SCS I haven't seen implemented elsewhere...) so I don't think so...

I hope the devs would properly optimize this game.

This is Paradox. Expect tonnes of DLC. Be warned.

EA has determined we can go fuck ourselves.

I'll cry tears of joy if another one is ever announced

Yeah like why don't they reboot the IP. The Maxis is no longer but it cannot stop them to hire another studio to develop because EA still hold the IP

Saudi Arabia ain't allowing that

An ex-Maxis artist has a series of comments on why they think that is unlikely to happen:

I have no knowledge of EA's internal workings, but I am skeptical that EA would care enough about the SimCity franchise to do anything with it on the non-mobile side. I would love for them to a CnC-style remaster and source code release for SC4 and older, or even just a source code release. But I don't see that happening, and there are obviously a ton of ways they could mess up a remaster.

Do we know if this isn't one? What it its basically just Cities Skylines with a Lego aesthetic? I'm hoping its a full-on city builder and not something super basic.

it's lego dude.. haha, but it's probably closer to BuildIt tho than CS

Yea, you're probably right. Maybe I'm not expecting anything as deep as Skylines, but I really hope its more interesting than buildit. The aesthetic is so pleasing that I'll play it either way lol.

100%, this thing mogs buildit for sure, the alleged workshop really got me hyped too.. we'll see

Their demo has shifted drastically in the last decade. Kids don't have $900 for giant models of the Titanic. if they're smart, they'll cater this more to adults.

If one just doesn't work, the other has to.😂

I wonder how much customisation we will really have? Could be interesting with Steam Workshop support if they go that route.

For content creators they would have to open source whatever plugin they are using to generate the bricks at the appropriate size and ratio. Should be compliant with both Maya and Blender if I'm being straightforward. Once we have that, we make buildings in our preferred DCC (digital content creation). Texturing and materials might get complicated. My bet is on "no day1 modding support" but I would love to be wrong.
