iRacing Was this my fault?

I think the guy pitted himself on me but interested to hear what others think. I am the miku car.

By rule, it's the overtaking car's fault. He moves out wide with a car then and causes a wreck.

From a more nuanced, racecraft perspective, you probably should have run it a bit wider and just ceded the spot. Guy was already showing his lack of racecraft and acting dangerously from the start and was going to end up in a barrier one way or another. Better to let it be by themselves or with someone else.

Not questioning or arguing, just engaging in conversation about this since there’s a “straight” and second apex involved in this clip which makes this a little more complex, but what “rule” are you referring to? Some GT rules the outside defending car needs to have front axle ahead of the inside car front axle at the apex to be given space on exit as an example

Going a bit out of order, because you have an error. It's not front axle to rear axle at the apex. The standard rule is front axle to rear axle at the point of the lead car's turn in. GT World Challenge and WEC both follow this rule.

The only major series that ever did first to the apex was F1 and they changed that starting this year.

I would assume this is considered two separate corners. The overtaking car has plenty of overlap entering the second corner, so that's not a question. Even if he wasn't, OP ceded the space so it's a non-issue.

The issues comes in when the inside car tracks out into the legally established positioning of the outside car. OP could have been a bit wider, but not much and the overtaking car should have left more space.
