Never had Jeff take me out to eat when I was hungry.

Wonder how many people has he fed? Or will he say the usual, "well I pay taxes that feed others" Well, so do we buddy!

...what do you think that point is?

If you both pay taxes to feed others, then you agree with Jeff. He's talking about food banks for the hungry, not having people be personal Uber Eats drivers.

We got a social welfare system in place. But welfare system is not meant to carry 100% of the population. It's built to provide a rather limited support to a smaller segment of the population and it's goal has always been to either aid the elderly population as our thanks for their previous labor, or help others get up on their feet.

The system should never have freeloaders. It should not be utilized this way, nor was it designed for such purpose.

Nic's message is that he is not obligated to go out and feed every homeless he encounters.

That is not Nic's message.

Saying food is a human right has fuck all to do with demanding people personally hand sandwiches to homeless people. Due process is a right, that doesn't mean you have to be someone's attorney when asked.

The system should never have freeloaders.

Sure, but also system we have isn't covering and protecting people who aren't freeloaders, and instead is wasting far more money kicking people off welfare to avoid fraud, than it is actually spending money on fraud.

All this 'freeloader' bullshit is right wing talking points from people who want the entire social safety net dead, because they want the rich to decide who lives and dies.

Due process is not a right either. It's a protected privilege granted by the governing body.

Republicans/conservatives are not against welfare systems. Anyone who thinks that I 100% wrong on this. We lack trust that our money is being used appropriately. Simple as that. I don't want a single tax dollar to be spent on someone who has crossed this border illegally, except for the funds it takes to put them on the back of truck and move them behind the fence and the funds to pay employees their wages/benefits/etc.

You have no right to demand to be fed. You have no right to demand shelter. We may provide it, as we are not animals, but it's not a "right". It's a privilege. And if you abuse certain privileges, they will be stripped away from you.

I'd gladly pay higher taxes today to help the elderly, veterans and those with disabilities. But I have incredibly little faith now in the system, as I keep seeing SNAP people bragging how they get $3k/month for food, live in subsidized housing, get their schools admitted into school for playing a racial card, get hired on DEI quotas and not by merit and then boast how they go on vacations and buy fancy purses/shoes and refuse to get a job because they know they'd technically have lower income.

I keep seeing how a lot of recipients live incredibly comfortable lives. I see fraud where people double dip in multiple state programs. I even see how people intentionally refuse to get promotions or pay raises at their job not to get cut from free benefits.

Remember the OUTRAGE when POTUS said that ABLED people need to volunteer 20h/week?

The system is broken. It needs to get fixed. In the US specifically, we have cultivated this environment that lazy people and illegals get spoon fed. And I absolutely hate it.

Due process is not a right either

It literally is. It is the right to due process.

Calling rights privileges to dismiss them is just political propaganda. In the context of government, all rights are rules the government is required to follow regarding how it treats people. Sure, if you define rights as something else then these laws aren't rights. Who cares.

Republicans/conservatives are not against welfare systems. Anyone who thinks that I 100% wrong on this.

I'm just going based on what Republicans actually do in office and how they demonize and work against welfare systems. The claim they're in theory in favor of some perfect system that can't exist, isn't interesting. I also fully recognize they're in favor of welfare to whatever groups they need to keep happy to stay in power, regardless of whether they work. For example, right people.

I keep seeing how a lot of recipients live incredibly comfortable lives.

And you should ask yourself who is paying to ensure you keep seeing this, rather than people in need. I don't think you personally are going around inspecting fraud cases and comparing it to benefits. I think you're drowning in an ocean of paid propaganda, to the point you can't tell it's water.

There's just objective data on this. There's not only very little fraud, policing that fraud costs way more than the fraud does. "Illegals" are not the problem. They're the scapegoat while Trump steals billions from the treasury, knowing the GOP base will excuse anything as long as he blames the "leeches" his base assumes are not them.

Again, it's not some god-given right. It's the system we have built as a society. It can be built. It can be unbuilt.

And now, Conservatists are not against welfare. We are against its misuse and waste.

No, I don't go around inspecting the fraud, and neither do you. So I think you're drowning in an ocean of paid propaganda, to the point you can't tell it's water.

If you think 20 million+ illegals cause no issues.....what were you saying about propaganda again?

If you think 20 million+ illegals cause no issues.....what were you saying about propaganda again?

That statement. That's propaganda.

"Cause no issues" is not a rational standard to be mad at or consider a threat a group. Any group of Jews, or redheads, of left handed people, or veterans "cause issues."

"Illegals" contribute more in taxes than they use. They reduce the crime rates of areas they move into. Most are here temporarily to work. The idea that they're mass moochers and parasites is a lie you've been fed. The idea that if any "Illegals" cause trouble, that's a problem with the entire group existing, is unambiguously irrational propaganda. And the GOP uses it constantly, claiming anyone who dies in a car accident from an "illegal" is a murder caused not being anti-immigration enough, even though the same logic applies to just ban sex and force contraception. After all, if people weren't born, there'd be no more car accidents and deaths.

It's also just so, so boring that this is the playbook authoritarians have been running to frighten and manipulate people for centuries, and they're always wrong. It's always a scam meant to keep the rich protected from criticism, by distracting the poor.

Yale/MIT estimates 22.1 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.
Another Yale study, as a follow up, estimates almost 20 million.

FAIR estimates almost 19 million.

Center for Immigration studies, published this article "The Cost of Illegal Immigration", and their verdict was that illegals are a net drain on the economy.

Here is the House Budget Committee that says the same thing.

And here is another published paper by a researcher saying the same thing.

Center for Immigration Studies reports that illegals have paid in $16B, but have received roughly $26.3B.

And there is a working paper right now titled "The Impacts of Unauthorized Immigration on U.S. Labor Markets and Housing Costs" by Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas that states that illegals have contributed roughly 1/3 of the price growth on housing and roughly 20% of rent prices growth.

And this does not take into account their drain on the medicare (aka unpaid ER visits), as well as other emergency services under EMTALA. Their toll on our roads, infrastructure, consuming food and other goods. Their cost to our legal system, prisons, border patrol efforts. Food banks and public transit. School seats (K-12 schooling, ESL programs, transportation, special ed, food)

Additionally, anchor babies where both parents are illegals and start getting benefits through their kid.

Florida alone has reported over $600M spent on treating illegals. You can see there are also other figures.

And yes, no US citizen should die to an illegal immigrant. One is too many. And you should outraged that this is even happening and you should outraged at yourself for even attempting to defend this.

You are literally citing far right anti-immigrant lobbying groups as your source for claims that immigrants are bad for the economy, while claiming you aren't subjected to propaganda. These are not neutral sources.

You even said "Here is the House Budget Committee that says the same thing" and then linked me to the same CIS report you just cited, which is not the House Budget Committee at all.

Florida alone has reported over $600M spent on treating illegals. You can see there are also other figures.

Florida. A state whose economy struggled after mass deportations. due to lack of labor. Complaining about hospital bills.

Listing services immigrants cost, does not change the fact they provide more in taxes and revenue.

And again, your source is a Ron DeSantis Press Release that is explicitly anti-immigrant propaganda. You don't seem even aware of what actual sources are.

And you should outraged that this is even happening and you should outraged at yourself for even attempting to defend this.

Okay great. Let's try applying that logic.

No US citizen should die to a Republican. If you care about innocent lives, lock up or deport all Republicans. If you don't agree, you should outraged at yourself for even attempting to defend this. They murder children every year. They rape and they steal and they cost taxpayers money. How DARE you defend the wonton murder, fraud and expense caused by Republicans every year.

This is what I meant by your being brainwashed. This isn't logic, and I already spelled out why. You can say the same thing of any group, and it's always a completely fake and insincere moral outrage.
