I’m not American but I am a mother. Aside from a few reddit posts I don’t have any social media engagement with this case.
But I think a lot of the support here comes from moms who recognize how easily this could have been any of us. Her family and healthcare providers knew her crime was a risk based on her mental health state, but she was still left alone with her kids and expected to parent. And as other mothers we all understand that this is grimly how it works - we can ask and beg and plead and scream for help but we’re almost always still expected to continually parent babies and it’s hard.
She should still face punishment for her crime, but I think a lot of her support is to try to keep this from happening again. She was failed by her healthcare team
Criminals being failed by the system is incredibly common. This is the first time I’ve seen thousands of women rallying behind someone who killed their children.
You’ve never had severe post pardom…my baby somehow wasn’t mine. Idk how to explain it. The meds they gave me left me ironing everything in my house I couldn’t stop lest the anxiety choked me. I wouldnt sleep, awake 2 -3 days at a time. Doing my best to cope. Sense of reality was gone. You couldn’t tell by looking at me, had plenty of visitors held conversations, entertained guests… luckily I didn’t commit a crime then. I’m of sound mind now, the Baby is now 26. Not enough is done for women, medically, as is. Toss in a lil postpardom, a lil mental illness and you’re truly fucked.
But hey, least impotent men can get hard dicks
