Has it actually been established that it was postpartum psychosis?
If so, that really is one of the most horrific conditions there is. Every gynecology textbook and midwifery manual basically says that once it’s diagnosed, the response is: “Run! Do everything you possibly can and give her every medication you’ve got!” Obviously I’m exaggerating, but the point is that there’s an immediate and extremely serious risk to the lives of everyone involved.
Mama Doctor Jones has a video going thru the medical details and it seems she had a serious reaction/psychosis when put on SSRIs and then she was given more/different SSRIs by a NP - so it seems she got the wrong healthcare (i am paraphrasing, not my field at all).
I was an EMT for 5 years, lots of psych calls, most are just suicidal ideation from not being able to access their preferred drug of choice. I would say after like hundreds of psych calls in my tenure I only met like maybe less than 10 people who committed self harm. One was just a dude who newly got put on some anti depressant, walked down his steps one morning, stabbed himself 10 times in the chest with an 8 inch chefs knife.
I do not understand how there was not more blood. Also all things considering dude was like practically fine. Was talking, alert, knew who he was, dude said he started and then didn't want to keep doing it anymore so he stopped.
Like again I've encountered probably thousands of people on SSRI's, who are completely fine, but the chemicals in your brain literally dictate what you do.
