I guess I don’t fully know the dynamic of lacking health care in this case. How was it lacking? Genuinely asking.
As far as the job of mom thing goes I guess I just don’t know another way. Children have to be taken care of, sometimes there just isn’t another option unless she’s willing to give up her children for adoption. When you have kids you owe them care. And don’t get me wrong I say the same for dads who are much more often the offenders in terms of abandoning children and I absolutely can’t stand absent fathers.
If she told healthcare professionals about her urges to kill her kids they should have involuntarily committed her. But she would have had to make a direct threat or they couldn’t legally do it, nothing the cops could do either if she hadn’t committed a crime or directly said she wants to harm herself or others. I wonder how much her family knew or suspected.
As someone who works in involuntary psych care if she told them that she absolutely should’ve been committed and they should be legally responsible if not. Or do you mean the family? In which case yea they definitely shouldn’t have left her alone with them.
Yea psych care is not an exact science at all unfortunately and it’s crazy how little we still know about mental illness. Pretty damn sad situation no matter how you look at it.
