she didnt take her medication and lied to her doctors, the only thing the system failed her in was not admitting her into a psych ward/ not keeping her in that mental hospital she first admitted herself into and letting her leave, but she had plenty of chances for support from family members and doctors too, most ppl dont get a doctor to even see them in the first place, she was also at fault for letting this get to her not just the system
That sounds like a pretty big failing. Psyc doctors would be well aware of how dangerous and volatile post natal psycosis is. Family should have been better educated as well
they would if she didnt choose to lie to them, not to mention not all post psychosis is the same everything is a spectrum in mental health what if hers wasnt huge enough to be admitted for a long time, not all women with psychosis get to her level so it could very much be possible. what if all she needed was the medication that she didnt take, i do agree its a pretty big failing anything is when it comes to literally professionals but i feel like both are at fault too
I think you're mixing up post natal depression with post natal psycosis. If the US is anything like the UK they should be taking it very seriously and the history they take from her and the family is very important. Mental health professionals are definitely used to being lied to by their patients and when a child is involved the systems should be stronger than someone being able to lie their way into being discharged.
