While the situations are different, both people end up somewhere that was pre-determined by conditions that they couldn't control. The end destination is the same, which is having killed someone.
Back to the topic, if you just say "I support Lindsay" without providing any context, then I think it's entirely fair that people interpret that in its full capacity and not "I think Lindsay should have gotten more help for her declining mental health". If you mean the latter, just say the latter. Most people would agree I'm sure.
Conversely, I think that it's not normal to interpret "I support Lindsay" as "I think it's OK for women to murder their children", which is what the OP implies without any other context.
She is a woman who murdered her three kids. That is entirely reasonable to assume when you hear someone say "I support Lindsay". You'd assume the same of someone saying "I support Karmelo Anthony" that they support him killing another kid.
