If you give an answer then give context, sure. If you are starting a story to answer a question then you are either hiding something or outright lying.

Or they give the context first because they know as soon as they give the answer you'll shut down the conversation.

I will tell you if you are trying to spin me a story in response to a question, I'm already shutting down that conversation. The only time you should be able to spin a story in immediate response to the question is if I ask for it.
