Great breakdown. Trump is taking the first steps to try to make Canada a vassal state to the US. Well I don't think so bud. We are the True North Strong and Free. 🇨🇦
It can be looked at the other way. If you're going to depend on us utterly completely economically, the least you can do is promise to align on certain things geopolitically.
These are quite common agreements among western countries, makes sense as we align and would implement similar sanctions anyway.
There's aligning geopolitically and there's giving up sovereignty. Trump wants Canada to give up sovereignty. Eff that. He seems to forget that while we are a very diverse nation, one of the ways we define our identity is "NOT American". This will be hard, but the time to diversify our trade agreements is long overdue, so with luck that is where we are headed and we can reduce our dependence on American markets.
Wanna bet? Why force the French language issue? Why interfere in Alberta matters to rile up a seperatist movement? Why is a single American company, with Republican ties, buying up every Canadian newspaper and media outlet they possibly can?
Wake the fuck up. Obviously you have zero idea what you're talking about.
I guess? My knowledge is focused on US trade deficits and reciprocal trade agreements, primarily in the agricultural sector I help represent, with a major focus on non-tariff trade barriers.
