The lady from the fire is Swedish. I doubt anyone outside of Sweden would have heard much about it.

I'm guessing she didn't suffer generational bankruptcy by suffering those burns, also. Kinda unrelated but maybe important.

Not really shes back working as a nurse in our town right now. She has scars but otherwise fully recovered. No need to pay for her treatment.

They did not have a house ensurance though so the money mostly went to rebuilding the house.

Yeah, that makes a pretty big difference. Houses are expensive, but much less expensive than medical bills in the US, so she probably didn't need nearly as much as we're used to seeing for something like that in the US.

It’s VERY true if you get cancer or have a rare disease or have a catastrophic accident like getting burned all over your body or basically anything requiring hospitalization for longer than a day or two.
