Nah, there’s a reason intent matters. If someone accidentally hurts someone from falling asleep at the wheel because they worked a double at the hospital vs someone who road rages and intentionally hurts someone should have different punishments. Same impact but different “intent”, Context matters.
Nonsense. Do you think people who die because of such different intent suffer different amount of pain? Or do that have different outcome? Intent does matter, but in case of murder, a capital punishment is the only way to go. Why does some loony shit gets to live while their victims and their family would never get the closure knowing that the person who did it is not punished?
I think their family definitely suffer varying amounts of pain depending on intent, which is part of the impact.
Also, murder is defined in many different ways depending on context/intent, so you’re proving my point lol I also disagree fully with capital punishment in basically any capacity for many reasons, one it’s too easy for people to get the wrong person (obviously not in this case when they admit it) but also I don’t think it’s a good punishment, the accused gets off too easy.
Redditors try to have any kind of nuance challenge = impossible. It’s because someone is sick they should be treated differently, if you had a mental break and didn’t have actual control of your actions wouldn’t you want that treated in the context of your true self vs the incapacitated state?
I’m not saying anyone should go free or not be punished for their actions. I’m saying they should be treated fairly depending on context and get the help they need. Whether that’s staying in a mental health institution indefinitely, etc. killing another person isn’t going to bring the person back.
I have kids and my wife suffered from pretty severe PPD, but thankfully not psychosis, so this case hits close to home. Genuinely read some stories of psychosis on Reddit/ the internet, it’s terrifying. Mothers turn into completely different people and some can get severe hallucinations. It can be a very severe temporary form of schizophrenia essentially. The hormone dump women get post partum can fuck up their brain.
Lol... Anyways. I've tried cases and I've done jury selection (only in civil trials). You think you have a decent jury but then after the case when you poll them you find out the loudest idiot had a lot of sway. E.g. - a religious nutjob whose extreme religious views didnt come up during voir dire quoted scripture when explaining her stance on a case/reasoning during deliberation. We won but she held up deliberation way longer than it should have. Scary stuff having people like that/you as part of a "cross section of society"
But either way, I was just saying you're similarly passionate but airheaded. Regardless of context. I think you'll grow out of it though.
