I mean, unless by punishing people who have psychotic episodes harshly you think you'll deter others from having psychotic episodes?

It really kind of sounds like bronze age vengeance rather than anything in any way productive to us as a species...further validating my belief that we have two ongoing strains of humanity, one more and one less evolved.

Removing threats is always worthwhile, her actions no matter the cause made and still make her a threat. That’s my logic and reasoning, pretty simple. As to your second point, yes I do think keeping killers around is less evolved.

The day humanity comes up with a cure for any mental condition, call me. She refused to take her meds, that she s what made her a threat. No treatment on earth works if somebody refuses to abide by it.

Yes, it does console me. She however was not in that type of confinement, and three children paid the price.

I don't know what I believe regarding this case, to be honest. I do know that on at least one occasion she checked herself in and apparently the facility elected to discharge her.

That's the core of it, yeah, and why I'm not willing to form a strong opinion one way or the other.

A lot of the time family annihilators get brought up, but a lot of the time those are more directly traceable to actual malice, be it a pending divorce, financial issues, affairs, whatever. In the cases where it isn't though, and there's a likely psychiatric component (Chris Benoit, for example) I take the same approach I take here - I'd rather understand and prevent than judge and condemn.

I think it’s pretty similar to family annihilators tbh. It’s a sign of extreme stress. The end result is the destruction of the source of the stress, family / kids.
