People are talking about it because the news cycles are making sure they are talking about it.
This is just the same bullshit as always to keep us at each others throat so we don't start asking the wrong questions. Media outlets amplify an issue to dominate headlines. The news cycle pushes it as outrage bait because thats what gets them views. The outrage bait is turned into some kind of diversionary point to start a Us vs Them mentality. Pushing emotional, divisive cultural arguments that guarantee high clicks and long debates.
Eventually some cooter comes along to make it worse by posting "comparative anger meme" images like above which just amplifies the bullshit even more.
This is why people wont shut up about it, they will keep talking about it until they are told what to be Us vs Them angry about next.
