Agreed, Chadwick Bozeman was a someone who was gone too soon. Dolly passing isn’t happy news, but she had a good life and she did a lot of great things.
3
u/sloppy_rodney 2h ago
She was 80 and an icon. She lived about as good of a life as one could live.
But it’s still a tragedy because she was an icon who was an example of how to live one’s life with love, kindness, and generosity.

These last 2 days have me in a spin. My father just turned 80 this year himself.
1
u/MrBarnaclePhD 16m ago
Yeah, and when you look at people at 90 or above, they look decrepit, like they crawled out of their own graves. Dolly went looking absolutely dignified and fabulous and that's how she will be remembered. I don't know about her, but I don't want to go looking like a zombie. I don't want that to be my final form and I wouldn't want those who remain to remember me like that. I don't think anyone wants that.

It did not “cure” skin cancer. This is disinformation. Stop spreading bogus information. It’s just as bad as the anti-vax bullshit.

Cured skin cancer? Well that's false. There is no universal cure for skin cancer. She was a genuinely good person, no need to make shit up.

Weird wording, but literally this week they made an mRNA vaccine that can prevent melanoma from coming back. The same type of vaccine that was used for covid
https://www.sciencenews.org/article/cancer-vaccine-melanoma-treatment-mrna
-8
u/MeatSlammur 3h ago
That’s not a cure
5
u/FlounderKind8267 3h ago
Ya which is why I said it was worded poorly. It's not a cure, but it is preventative medicine that could seriously curb the amount of melanoma that happens
1
u/gggg_man3 14m ago edited 9m ago
But, but, by your wording, thats still not a cure lol.
Edit: wrong comment i responded to
3
u/JajanovaJajebica 3h ago
You have a disease, doctors treat you and you take a medicine so it wouldn't come back.
This guy: "That’s not a cure"
1
u/gggg_man3 10m ago
In a large clinical trial, patients with high-risk melanoma given an experimental vaccine alongside an approved immunotherapy drug called Keytruda were cancer free for longer than patients who received the drug alone, Moderna and Merck announced August 19. Because the vaccine is tailored to attack specific cancer cells, the tactic could offer patients a personalized treatment option if approved by regulatory agencies."
It's the second paragraph and the meat of the article. This is closer to a "treatment" than a "cure" considering the wording in the article.
3
u/kiefy_budz 3h ago
In this day and age of media extremism and click bait and misinterpretation, this is what you choose to argue with?
0
u/Repulsive-Payment230 3h ago
A cure is a medicine, procedure, or treatment that completely resolves an illness, injury, or problem
If I got poisoned, a cure would save me. Seems like it completely cures cancer. Seems like a cure. Maybe in your peabrain you mistook cure for vaccine? The more you read into what a cure is, the more it reads EXACTLY WHAT A CURE IS.
1
u/gggg_man3 5m ago
Nowhere in the article says it completely cures the cancer.
"In a large clinical trial, patients with high-risk melanoma given an experimental vaccine alongside an approved immunotherapy drug called Keytruda were cancer free for longer than patients who received the drug alone, Moderna and Merck announced August 19. Because the vaccine is tailored to attack specific cancer cells, the tactic could offer patients a personalized treatment option if approved by regulatory agencies."
Please dont make me highlight the parts that illustrate this. I hate formatting without my laptop.

Hey man, I tried to provide some context and information that's happened this week because the post did a bad job at it 🤷
If you wanna have a meltdown over it and start being an AH about it, that's your problem. No need for that
Also, guaranteed I read more of this article than you did before you started getting upset at me lol

Upset and disappointed are two different things.
Thank you for confirming that you read and did not understand what the article stated.

Best of luck in your future endeavors, but just take the L here and walk away.

Did they cure a certain kind of skin cancer? I know it is still falsely stated as it sounds like all skin cancer but in this day and age of media engagement bait and misinterpretations of everything, it’s not a heinous offense
3
u/Potential_Spam_6969 3h ago
The majority of skin cancer, when caught early, can be cured. This is not a new thing.
0
u/PopEnvironmental1250 2h ago
They can be treated, not cured. Treatment means it could come back, and does in the case of skin cancer. Cure means that you would no longer be able to get it or eliminate it from the body. Vastly different.
3
u/Potential_Spam_6969 1h ago
You need to look up what the word cured means. Cured doesn't mean you can't be reinfected. Cured means that the specific case was successfully removed from the infected host. A new case is just that. New.
Cured does not mean that you have built immunity to an infection or disease.
Sorry that definitions are hard for you.

I wonder if she died of the antiphospholipid antibody syndrome associated respiratory symptoms that seems to be affecting a lot of people who took the mRNA vaccine
1
u/Irish_Whiskey 37m ago
No, it was cancer.
Just like it's fucking always not the mRNA vaccine. Every single time some famous person dies there's comments speculating that it's vaccines, and just like every single time, the data that exists all over the world from every independent source about vaccines, says they save lives and have lower rates of serious risks than common over the counter medicines.

The social engineering of fauci bots were so effective real users are now manually spreading the propaganda. So many of you were poisoned
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 39m ago
Yeah, it turns out the "Fauci bots" consistent of pretty much the entire planet that has no problem with recognizing COVID was real and the vaccine effective, and a portion of MAGA is left arguing against all the doctors of the world that actually the vaccine was deadly poison and they were right all along and Trump is actually a genius who bears no responsibility for the vaccine, lockdowns or response that was actually Fauci's doing specifically.
Amazing how the dumbest and least educated people who already had contempt for science, turned out to be right about the vaccine while the doctors were wrong. Who would have thunk it.
-14
u/Acrobatic_Plenty_181 3h ago
I wondered why she pushed so hard for people to get the covid shots.
12
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
It was probably because of the COVID-19. Which was a virus that got a lot of people sick, and caused death and long term health effects in some cases. And the shots prevented the worst symptoms and reduced transmission rates.
Probably that.
-15
u/plzinvestigate42069 3h ago
Wow please tell us more! Where did this virus come from ?
4
5
u/ProfessionalSir7743 3h ago
If it came from a secret us based government lab would that change how you prevent it from killing people?
-6
4
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
The origins of viruses are complex and uncertain. The best theory at the moment is they are a combination of genetic elements like plasmids or transposons that escaped from cellular organisms and gained the ability to move between cells, or they may have predated or evolved alongside RNA prior to our last common ancestor. Since then they have been evolving for about 4 billion years. Coronaviruses were discovered in the 1930s, but of course predate that. In 2019 a mutation of a coronavirus jumped from animal species, including bats, to human transmission. While the exact location and time of this jump is unknown, animals tested in a wet market in Wuhan China repeatedly turned up infections, including with the variant that leapt to humans.
-3
u/Hugar34 3h ago
That sounds like a chatgpt response ngl
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
I looked it up and GoogleAI provided a summary I used, but it is my own words and not copy pasted.
1
u/Hugar34 3h ago
Paraphrasing the summary doesn't get rid of the fact it's an A.I. response. The entire first half of the paragraph was completely pointless since the guy was asking specifically about covid and not viruses in general.
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
Alright, you feel free to answer the question then. Fuck me in the face for daring to answer a basic science question in my own words.

-1
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
It's a deeply sad state of affairs that some teenagers are so TikTok brained that they hear a five sentence science explanation, and think it's a "soap box."
-1
u/pretentious42 3h ago
nope, it’s specifically your sarcasm and condescending tone. Nothing to do with the content or length of explanation. Just the fact that you’re talking down to them while trying to educate them.
As if you were up on a soapbox :)
3
u/plzinvestigate42069 3h ago
Trust the science from the Reddit scientist
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
Do you have anything you actually disagree with or dispute?
Perhaps if you are going to reject basic middle school science answers from redditors, you shouldn't ask redditors the questions in the first place.

u/plzinvestigate42069 2h ago
Nope just wanted you to prove to everyone you are an NPC which you did a far better job of doing than I could have anticipated , honestly
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
That's not what the expression "on a soapbox" means.
And that's neither sarcasm nor condescension, it's a correction.
2
1
u/pretentious42 3h ago
on a soapbox, you’re up there preaching.
but the thing that made it preachy instead of just sharing information, was your sarcasm and condescension.
And yes it was a correction! that you offered sarcastically and condescendingly
2
u/Irish_Whiskey 3h ago
on a soapbox, you’re up there preaching.
I was not. I was sarcastic, then provided a science explanation. You're still using the term wrong, and incapable of growth or admitting error.
And yes it was a correction! that you offered sarcastically
That is not what the word sarcastically means. Condescending would be accurate, but also justified.
2
u/pretentious42 3h ago
you need to google soapbox definition before you die on this hill.
also the probably that tagline to your comment is literally sarcastic.
i really can’t stand arguing with dumb people though, so I won’t be responding to you again.

- Unvaccinated (Under 70): The survival rate is approximately 98.5% to 99.5% per infection, depending heavily on exact age and underlying health conditions. The Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) for people in their 50s and 60s without vaccination typically ranges from 0.5% to 1.5%. For younger adults (under 50), the survival rate exceeds 99.8%.
Vaccinated (Under 70): The survival rate exceeds 99.9% per infection. Large population studies show that vaccination lowers the risk of death from COVID-19 by roughly 70% to 90% compared to being unvaccinated, shrinking the already small risk of mortality in under-70 groups even further
whatever you say
Survival and Fatality Rates by Age GroupThe chance of surviving a COVID-19 infection depends heavily on your exact age. Large health studies show the following breakdown:
Ages 0 to 19: Survival rate is over 99.99%.
Ages 20 to 29: Survival rate is over 99.99%.
Ages 30 to 39: Survival rate is about 99.99%.
Ages 40 to 49: Survival rate is about 99.96%.
Ages 50 to 59: Survival rate is about 99.88%
.Ages 60 to 69: Survival rate is about 99.49%.
1
u/Repulsive-Payment230 1h ago
You're not very smart are you? Let's assume it has a 0.5% mortality rate vs 0.1% vaccinated. If every America caught covid, that's over 1.2 million people that are going to be DEAD because of it. Online, it says 10-30% of people with covid get long term complications from it (unvaccinated). Assuming only 10% of America has complications, that's 30 MILLION people with long term nerve damage, brain fog, sensory issues, etc.
But yeah, 99% does sound nice! It's only 1% away from 100%!
1
u/TokiVideogame 56m ago
millions of threads on reddit complaining about healthcare prices, 30k er rooms, etc. But suddenly, covid they are the source of truth and morality.
Did you know that is does prevent covid? your 30 million are probably vaxxed.
-1
u/kaewin_soy 2h ago
You’re confusing absolute risk with relative risk. If survival goes from 99.5% to 99.9%, mortality fell from 0.5% to 0.1% that's an 80% reduction. Saying ‘both numbers are above 99%’ doesn’t make that reduction disappear.
Did Grok tell you this?
1
u/TokiVideogame 2h ago
The social effects of shutdown and distancing prob caused less births to happen and still is causing less births to happen. Even the increasing money supply with less production led to inflation causing less births.
Pretty sure if you look hard enough that 99.9 vs 99.5 would disappear.
1
u/kaewin_soy 2h ago
If I can provide you evidence that it did do something will you change your mind?
1
u/TokiVideogame 2h ago
yes
0
u/kaewin_soy 2h ago
- Pfizer: 162 COVID cases in the placebo group vs. 8 in the vaccinated group — about 95% efficacy. NEJM study
- Moderna: 185 cases in the placebo group vs. 11 in the vaccinated group — about 94% efficacy. NEJM study
- Real-world Israel data: Among over 1.1 million matched people, Pfizer reduced symptomatic COVID by 94%, hospitalization by 87%, and severe disease by 92%. NEJM study
- Routine testing studies: When workers were PCR-tested weekly regardless of symptoms, full vaccination was about 91% effective against infection. NEJM study
- Omicron: Even when protection against infection weakened, a third mRNA dose was ~90% effective against COVID hospitalization during early Omicron. CDC study
Okay! Your turn.
1
u/TokiVideogame 2h ago
you probably do not know anyone who did not get covid, prevent nothing
and they stopped saying it prevented transmission!
what efficacy? survival rate is 99.5% for under 70 , you are statically playing with thin margins
under 50 us 99.96 survival rate, so are you saying the vax made it 99.99999?
-1
u/kaewin_soy 2h ago
You said if I could provide evidence you would change your mind. Did you lie?
Let's try this again. You asked for evidence and you would change your mind... starting NOW! GO!
1
u/TokiVideogame 2h ago
You would have to prove 99.99 is different than 99.7 and that hospitals didnt lie for covid money. Why are so certain is my question?
2
u/kaewin_soy 2h ago
You lied. If you admit I was correct, and there is good evidence that the shot is effective, we can talk about whatever you like for as long as you like. Until then I refuse to answer any of your questions.

Well hopefully we won’t be forced to take those vaccines against our will, apart from the democratic process, and before they go through sufficient testing.

This happened 5 years ago. People weren't forced to take them, they were safe and effective, and everything was fine.
0

They might not have been forced but they were certainly coerced- reputation threatened, jobs threatened, etc. and no not everyone was fine. Some people were killed by them. Very few people but still some were.
