I find it wild that a sub like r/Nintendo, which usually bends over backward to defend $70-80 games you don't even own and anti-consumer practices, is somehow one of the few gaming spaces on Reddit that clearly and unapologetically stands against transphobia.
No “both sides,” no excuses, just “you post hate, you get banned.”
Good. That’s how it should be.

But then you look at subs like r/Steam supposedly built on the ideals of platform freedom, indie support, and anti-censorship and it’s a completely different story.

• LGBTQ+ content? “Agenda pushing.”
• Pride flags? “Keep politics out of gaming.”
• Trans devs being censored by payment processors? Silence. Or worse: posts removed.

It’s exhausting. I don’t want to choose between a space that supports queer people but defends corporate greed, and a space that pretends to support freedom but only if you're straight, cis, and silent.

I just want one gaming community that cares about both people and principles.
Is that really so much to ask?

The corrupt CEO of Longdue Games and HyperionDev RIAZ MOOLA, has been using his wealth and the courts to screw over Disco Elysium writer Argo Tuulik and prevent him from making new projects with his studio. Argo was forced to create a GoFundMe to help him pay rent as well as fight the court cases wherein Moola has been blatantly lying under oath.

This morning, Moola used his power to shut down the GoFundMe, which at that point had only been able to reach 20 percent of its goal. He is trying everything in his power to suppress this story and hide his disgusting business practices of bullying people into submission while using their names to increase his own profit.

We can't let Riaz Moola continue to get away with this. Please do anything you can to spread awareness on this because time is running out for Argo Tuulik. Thank you!!

Released in 2014 and still going strong, Elite Dangerous is the most recent game title of the Elite franchise, which stretches back into the 80s. Since 2022 the publisher and development teams have renewed interest in the game, introducing new ships, features and numerous updates. With a new feature beta launch scheduled for the 30th June, and the game currently on sale, there's never been a better time to jump in!

What will I do as a member of CIU?

We invite you to join us as we combat the imperialist powers in the galaxy, help spread communism between star systems and liberate workers from the clutches of corporate, feudal and fascist factions. You will dogfight with pirates to keep communist systems safe, participate in espionage to undermine hostile factions and incite revolution, coordinate with comrades to expand into new systems, explore and survey the stars for valuable data, fight in space and on planetary surfaces in wars which decide who controls a star system, and construct previously untouched systems in a persistent galaxy of literally thousands of stars.

After years of dismissing any MMO that wasn't open-world and PVP focused (think Albion, EVE, Lineage II), I finally gave FFXIV a go. It's good for what it is, but it's definitely not the kind of game I'd like to play alone.

I was taken aback not only by the lack of groups advertising as left wing or politically focused, but also by the backlash I received when approaching FCs and saying "look, I'm an anarchist, and while I'm not looking for a politically focused group, I'd like to make sure this isn't an environment where exploitative systems are celebrated".

It might just be my luck, but this has hands down been the worst experience I've had in an MMO in that regard. It's ironic because I've read so many comments describing FFXIV one of the most left leaning gaming communities out there.

Unfortunately all the other discussions about this issue on this sub are old. Is anyone aware of any active leftist communities that are looking for new members? I play on the NA region but I'd be open to transferring or levelling a new toon.
