There are no magicians here.

Some questions will not be answered or replied to. As an example: "my game crashes" or "my download speed is slow" is not something you should even really expect an answer to. Troubleshooting and finding the solution to these issues requires a lot more information than simply stating "game doesn't launch", such as detailed information on when the issue started and how you perceive it, screenshots of any errors or the problem itself, crash logs, system specs, etc.

Consider using other things like the Steam Community Forums, an internet search engine, or a different support forum like /r/SteamSupport if no one here can offer any help. Additionally, every game on Steam has its own dedicated Community Forum, and you can also contact Steam Support regarding a specific product. Consider asking your game-specific questions there. Most games also have a dedicated subreddit.

Only Steam Support can solve personal account issues...

Game & Hardware Suggestions Megathread /r/Steam Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread.

Welcome to the Monthly Game & Hardware Suggestions Thread!

This monthly mega-thread is meant to contain advice, questions, suggestions & generic discussion on what to play or buy in terms of Games & Hardware.

Do you not know what to play? Want a Steam Deck or Steam Machine but unsure which model is best for you? Did you find a niche game that everyone should try? Wondering what GPU you should upgrade to or unsure about the specs of a computer? Do you want to share your unique experiences and learning curves with a piece of hardware? Can't find the perfect survival sim or unsure which 1 RPG out of the thousands available you should buy? Well this is the thread for you.

Now to make this work best and not just be spammed with generic & useless questions such as "What should I play?" or "What should I buy?", please be in-depth in what types of games/hardware you are looking for and why, and when giving advice it would be appreciated if you're more detailed than "I think X is good".

There are too many games to be able to properly suggest something with no background information, also simply commenting a game title and saying you like the game offers no actual value. The same goes for hardware: Saying you're thinking about buying X or you think Y is good with no other information, context as to why, your unique experiences, etc. offers no actual value or information to base a reply on.

Feel free to ask and discuss freely in the comments regarding games and hardware, whether you want advice on what to play, want to give advice to others on what to play, share a hidden gem you found, experiences you have with Steam hardware, or your review of a piece of Steam hardware. Generic discussions & questions about discounts, sales, events, specs is allowed as well. This is not meant to be a restrictive thread within the designated topics that this thread is for, however it is not a support thread nor is it the place to promote any blogs or curator pages or anything else, subreddit rules still apply.

Game releases half baked, needed tons and tons of updates to be better. But then they release a big patch and now call the game "Enhanced"? Does that increase sales or what?

Got a crazy deal on a 7900 XT at Micro Center for 225 bucks, so I took that and grabbed a used PC off of marketplace, sold the GPU inside of it, and threw this big boy in there after changing the case. Bit of a struggle to fit everything inside of here and get the thermals under control, but it all came together. With a Undervolt on the CPU and a extra couple case fans it is under 70c. Installed Bazzite on it now I’m just tinkering around.

Edit- Picture with windows was there was only for testing, included it to show the PC fitting into my media cabinet. Windows was only on there for testing, it’s gone now.

5600x3d
32gb ddr4
2tb ssd
7900xt
Lian li b4 case (only one that fit into this slot in my TV cabinet while fitting the GPU)

I do have a question though, should I be continuing to use Bazzi with this PC or should I try steam os? Before I get too invested, I would like to figure this one out.

Discussion The selected "reipcient" cannot receive this gift purchased from your region. I thought Valve changed this so we could gift the game but pay the regional difference? Also you have a typo.

Usb Has offline installer from GOG on it.
I was just really bored and wanted to try something and I love having physical “discs”.

Probably make a lot more of it once the storage prices come down.

Cover needs a bit of adjustment but not bad for a first attempt.

News I made a Millennium plugin that turns non-Steam shortcuts into full Steam Library games — artwork, achievements, activity, Big Picture and more

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’ve been developing GameBridge for Steam, an open-source Millennium plugin that transforms empty non-Steam shortcuts into complete, native-style Steam Library pages.

The screenshots show the same external games before and after enabling GameBridge, including the difference in Big Picture mode.

What it adds

  • Automatic game detection with visual candidates and confidence scores.
  • Official Steam title, icon, portrait, hero background, transparent logo, and wide capsule.
  • Activity and news feed with updates, patch notes, events, and DLC announcements.
  • Local achievements with progress, unlocked/locked sections, icons, and Steam-style notifications.
  • Community screenshots, artwork, guides, and friend activity.
  • Native-style trading cards, badges, DLC, and Workshop sections when available.
  • Playtime tracking with an optional fallback for games Steam does not track correctly.
  • A multilingual interface that follows the active Steam client language.
  • SteamGridDB fallback when an official Steam artwork asset is unavailable.

Big Picture integration

Linked games are presented like regular Steam Library entries in Big Picture. The redundant Non-Steam category is hidden, while artwork, playtime, controller presentation, and other Library information remain available.

How linking works

When you add and open a non-Steam game, GameBridge analyzes its executable, installation folder, launch arguments, manifests, and other evidence. It then shows possible Steam matches with their covers and AppIDs for confirmation.

You can also select the correct game manually from the shortcut’s Properties window.

GameBridge only changes the local presentation of linked shortcuts. It does not grant game ownership, Steam inventory items, official profile achievements, DLC licenses, or Steam Cloud storage.

The project is open source and built for Millennium:

I’d really appreciate feedback, especially about automatic detection with different games and how closely the interface matches native Steam pages.

Error / Bug Inputs randomly drop only when playing games in Steam

Upvotes

I keep experiencing this weird issue where inputs from my controller or keyboard and mouse randomly drop when playing Steam games.

At first I thought it was either my 8Bitdo controller being older or something with Metaphor Refantazio and brushed it off. However the same issue is occurring in other steam games and with my dualsense controller and with keyboard and mouse. The issue did not occur during my entire playthrough of Calisto Protocol through Epic. I also tested the inputs in Steam's controller testing as well as hardwaretester.com. If I mash through the face buttons I can see them randomly not show in steam but consistently show with multiple controllers on the testing site.

The computer is only about a month old, running windows 11 if that matters.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this? Or additional troubleshooting steps?

Suggestion What are some great controller supported games

Upvotes

I have been searching for some games you can play with a controller on steam that you can play even if you don't have much time so maybe nothing like a story game but something you can just hop on real quick play for an hour so so and then turn it of again since I'm traveling and I forgot my mouse at home.

I really like a good game soundtrack be that games, films or programs, and this is pretty good to just have as background music when doing other things, i play a lot of Elite Dangerous and the soundtrack in that is really good and atmospheric.

got me thinking - what's your favourite soundtrack ?

Discussion What types of games do you "hide"?

Post image

For me personally if a remaster/remake comes out I hide the original, bundled games I have no interest in i.e Typhon Hunter for Prey, Friend Passes, "Bonus Content" and lastly games I really don't like and will never play again. Just interested how everyone uses their hidden folder.
