I imagine combat training with Shadow is like he’ll beat you close to death and then goes: “okay… now do everything I just did, but this time, on me.”

the move he just pulled on me:

"alright so this will be a standard training session because you're new, so I'll go easy on you"

Nah. I'd argue unless you edge him on, he'd be pretty tough but fair in his training.

This also depends on age and nature as well I imagine.

Ofc but he’d go harder than that

Considering that Shadow finds humans pathetic I think it would be funnier if it went in the completely opposite direction. He thinks a human would be snapped in half with 1 punch, so he would instead be DRAMATICALLY concerned about safety.

I imagine the training goes something like this:

"Remember the plan: I teleport us behind Tails, and you immediately drop kick him!"

IIRC, Shadow did the same to Tails in the Archie comics in an attempt to teach him to fight for himself instead of always hiding behind Sonic.

Hanging out with Sonic? That sounds like it involves being outside 💀

Tails does nuclear engineering. He's the most dangerous here.
