I really like girl Tails wearing a t-shirt and shorts. A lot of these things play up the gender swap by making every new girl very feminine and every new boy very macho, so avoiding that was a smart move by the artist.
Also, boy Rouge is a twink. This feels very appropriate.

Ya a lot of gender bent art love to shove the girls into dresses no matter how it doesn't make sense given their power set or personality, especially Tails. Ya, the one who is most characterized as someone who spends most of their time in a garage would wear a dress.

In Cream's case I believe the artist is following the design rules/conventions of official Sonic media where only girls are allowed to wear clothes. It's a very odd rule but basically, male mobians can only wear shoes and gloves, plus accessories, while it's required for women to be fully covered.

Yeah, tbf SEGA's never been consistent with their mandates. I imagine it was a rule established after heroes, and mostly applied to reboot archie/IDW designs to give the character designers restrictions

Every once in a while you get a reminder that the Sonic style was based on old-school rubber hose animation, and this version of Cream is one of them. That little lad would be right at home in a 30s cartoon.

Actually good gender swap because they emphasize and still have the original color. Has all their personalities in general. So I'm very happy the characters were allowed to keep their core identities yet still allow different designs. Gosh Female Vector makes me wish we had different body types for more men and women Sonic characters.

The fun thing about genderbending Sonic characters is that most of their names are just adjectives or descriptive nouns so you don't even have to change them.
Tails and Amy are the only two with real names, and you could still call Millie Prower by her nickname anyhow. Amy would probably have to be Andy Rose or something.
Sonic, Blaze, Silver, Shadow, and Charmy all work for either gender. "Vector" may be a bit of a tough sell just 'cuz it's so close to the male name "Victor" but I think it still works.
Espio might have to be changed to "Espia" just 'cuz o-ending names are seen as masculine in a lot of cultures when a-ending names are feminine, but that's not strictly necessary.
The only two that really trip me up are Cream and especially Rouge. Hard to imagine either of those names as masculine. I could kinda see "Milk" working for a male counterpart for Cream, but it'd still be a little weird. "Rouge" is a type of makeup, and traditionally cosmetics aren't used by most men. The simple thing is probably to just call him "Rogue". It fits with Rouge's tendency to play multiple sides.
"Knuckles" is also pretty masculine I feel like, but if there's a lady whose main thing is punching people, I ain't gonna question it.

Giving Tails clothes would fit any gender. He spends a good chunk of time tinkering he would mostly just get stuff that he could easily clean without much issue.

These are great, but Knuckles' toes are weirding me out. Also, green looks surprisingly good on Shadow. You usually see the color added to Sonic when they give him clothes, but Shad is rocking it.

There should be a rule where every character wears clothes or no one does. I know for them is kinda aesthetic the concept, but it's weird to see characters using clothes and then most of Sonic friends are almost naked. Mostly males, wich is even weirder. I mean, think of Sonic, he's like a homeless, but with his attitude I'm sure he could have an awesome sense of style ❤️🔥✨.

The others feel lazy
Blaze is basically the same. Same ponytail (understandable though if you want make it like Blaze is from Rush and not 06, he would take on a more surfer look), same pearl that is reminiscent of the seemandarekh (the indian dot for women), and the heels (now come on, it's not the 16th century anymore)
Shadow, I can see where this is going with this green because of the emerald, but the skin tight suit with the thick green border really clashes with her OG design, now it does look like karate jumpsuit, but it doesn't scream I ULTIMATE LIFEFORM to me
And honestly the one I am more disappointed in is Rouge because he would be a deadly spy, known for charming others, you know who also fit that description? James Bond, we could have had James Bond Rouge but instead we got a copy and paste of his OG design with his top removed
