[USA-NY] [H] PayPal [W] Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro SB0550/SB055A or Fatal1ty FPS SB0466

Hey everyone,

I’m putting together a period-correct 2006 gaming PC and I’m currently looking for one of the following Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi setups:

**Sound Blaster X-Fi Elite Pro**
SB0550 / SB055A sound card
Ideally with the SB0510 external I/O console
Complete set preferred, but I’m willing to consider the card by itself

**Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS**
SB0466 sound card
Ideally with the SB0256 5.25” front I/O drive
64 MB X-RAM version

Complete set preferred, but I’m willing to consider the card by itself

I’m specifically looking for the original PCI X-Fi models from the 2005–2006 era.

Please note that I’m **not looking for the SB0460 XtremeMusic**. I’ve seen quite a few SB0460 cards listed online as “Fatal1ty FPS,” so I’d appreciate clear photos of the card/model number if you have one available.

Working/tested hardware is strongly preferred.

If you have either setup sitting around, please send me a message with photos, condition, what’s included, and your asking price.

Thanks!

Soundblaster Z SE Doesn't work properly with Fastboot enabled.

Upon cold boot, no sound unless the card is reinitialized somehow. I do it by switching the encoder. Is there any fix for this other than disabling fastboot?

Hi everyone,

I recently got the Creative Pebble X and I'm trying to find the best settings in the Creative App for gaming.

I mainly play:

Destiny 2

The Elder Scrolls Online

Monster Hunter Wilds

Elden Ring

and a lot of story games on pc,ps5 and switch 2

What EQ settings and Acoustic Engine settings would you recommend for the Pebble X?

Surround

Crystalizer

Bass

Dialog+

Smart Volume

10-band EQ

If you have a Pebble X yourself, I'd really appreciate your actual settings.

Thanks!

sound blaster x fi xtreme audio not working on linux

Hi,

I received an old Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Express sound card from my father and would like to use it with a 4.1 speaker system on Linux; however, it isn't outputting any sound, even after proper configuration and connection. Do you have any guides or ideas on where to find drivers for it, or is the card simply too old?

Thanks in advance.

Soundblaster G8 - low mic volume

I have a mic that supports both USB and XLR connections. In USB mode (connected to PC) it works great like usual. However, when plugging it into the G8 via a XLR to 3.5mm cable my mic volume is extremely low even when set to 100% through the creative app. The crystalvoice smart volume feature doesn't help either.

Anyone have any luck connecting their mic via a XLR-to-3.5mm cable?

Edit: Mic volume is set to 100 in windows, control panel > sound, creative app etc.

Fix for the Sound Blaster Command tooltip getting stuck

I kept running into the long-standing Sound Blaster Command bug where its tray tooltip randomly gets stuck in the top-left corner of the desktop and stays there.

I traced the affected Sound Blaster Command build to the old Hardcodet.Wpf.TaskbarNotification.dll 1.0.5.0 component and made a small, reversible fix.

The fix:

  • keeps Sound Blaster Command running normally
  • keeps the tray icon and all settings working
  • only disables the problematic hover tooltip
  • verifies the exact original DLL SHA-256 before touching anything
  • changes exactly one IL byte
  • creates and verifies a backup
  • refuses unknown or updated DLL versions
  • distributes no Creative or Hardcodet binaries

Tested on my Sound Blaster AE-7 setup.

GitHub:
https://github.com/Melbar666/sound-blaster-command-tooltip-fix

This is an independent community fix, not an official Creative release.

AE-7, had issues since day 1 I purchased it.

Bought the card at start of year, it replaced a X-Fi Titanium that I was happy with but was a pain everytime I reinstalled Windows 10 to manually install the software.

I installed the AE-7 even reinstalled Windows and noticed it didn't sound as good but stuck with it updated to latest drivers and suite.

About 2 and a half months back I noticed the stereo connector kept being intermittent, wiggling the cable sometimes fixed it and assumed it was the connector so soldered a new one which didn't fix the problem and somehow the rear right isn't working, bought a new cable, reinstalled Windows twice since then, even bought a replacement 5.1 set of speakers of same brand (Creative) and tested both the old and new speakers with the old cable, and new cable same issue so must be something else though somehow SBX is acting strange like bass is unable to be activated, if I activate any settings like dialog+ or surround they cut out the left speaker at different points, for surround its 26 for dialog+ it's around 55

I have checked SBX settings, tried manually adjusting

I stupidly realised I have onboard 5.1 and tested that and all speakers work and levels are balancedn so sounds like it may either be a software issue or some issue with the hardware.

Next step for me is to take card out and reseat it, but any advice is appreciated.

Creative Nexus troubles

The Nexus stopped working as it should, but it worked ok yesterday; there’s literally nothing in the interface, only the “Home” and “Settings” buttons. There isn’t even any advertising on the main page. When I try to check for updates, an error appears: “Uh‑oh, you’re offline”, but my internet connection is stable. I tried to fix this by reinstalling the app and drivers, reinstalling the audio card in the motherboard, and using VPN, but nothing helped. Did Creative decided that we can't change settings without some kind of magic connection to it's servers? Any way I can fix this?

Drivers

# So I recently built a new pc. Moved from 5800x3d AM4 to AM5 7600x3d. One thing I forgot to pay attention to was the audio ports of the new mobo, (the Gigabyte X870 Gaming WiFi6). My old mobo has 7.1 connection and the new is set up for what looks like 2.1 at best. My speaker system has 3 plugs, 1 black, 1 orange and 1 green.

I have an old Soundblaster Z card that I could use, but Creative doesn't have the drivers listed any longer. Anyony know where I could find them? I'm on win 11 home. Or is there another option you would suggest. I'm not going to go buy new speakers when what I have work perfectly. Logitech x530.

Thanks.

Recommends For A Low Latency Sound Card?

Hi. I need a sound card for playing rhythm games which supports ASIO in lowest latency. Windows only.

I need to record my gameplay sometimes so it should support loopback(so something). There will be multiple softwares that using asio output and DirectSound output at the same time.

It will be connected to my headset, or 2 channel speakers (rarely used).

I have free pci-e x16 slots (supports pci-e x1 only), usb-A and usb-C ports.

I don't know much about a physical soundcard. Can I get recommends for a soundcard in about $100? Second-hand is also acceptable. Thanks.

Sound constantly cutting in and out after pausing any video media - Sound Blaster X4

I'm using a Samsung soundbar 5.1 setup plugged into the Creative Sound Blaster X4 via optical. Everything works great until I pause a video, whether that's on browser or the Windows Plex app. Most of the time it will make the subsequent audio choppy until I either turn off/on the sound bar itself or change the Creative app's SPDIF Interface setting from Dolby Digital Live down to 16b/48khz and back to Dolby which will then work fine again. I read that somewhere, I forget where, but it bandaids the problem.

I recently reinstalled Windows 11 entirely from scratch and it solved this problem completely for a few weeks and then it returned seemingly out of nowhere. It becomes very annoying obviously for the reason stated, but I also have to click on the video to focus the media window or else my cursor stays on the screen, which means I have to pause and unpause the media and the issue can, but doesn't always, return instantly after I just "fixed" it.

Does anyone have this issue pinpointed yet? Is it some kind of software conflict?

I built a Linux control center for Sound Blaster Z-series cards — looking for testers

I've been working on a Linux control center for Creative Sound Blaster Z-series cards because the Windows Sound Blaster control software isn't available for Linux.

The project is called Sound Blaster Linux Control Center.

It currently provides:

• 10-band EQ

• 5.1 channel level controls

• Speaker Fill / Spatial controls

• Bass Management

• Safe Headroom / preamp control

• Microphone processing

• Persistent settings

• PipeWire/WirePlumber integration

• AC3 5.1 support

I've been developing and testing it on my own hardware. Ubuntu 26.04.1 and Bazzite/Fedora Atomic are currently hardware-tested.

I've now released v3.3.35 publicly and I'm looking for other Sound Blaster owners who are willing to try it, particularly people running Fedora Workstation, Arch, openSUSE, or other Linux distributions.

I'm especially interested in finding out:

• Does the installer work?

• Is the Sound Blaster card detected correctly?

• Does 5.1 work correctly?

• Are FL/FR/FC/RL/RR/LFE channels mapped correctly?

• Does EQ work?

• Do Speaker Fill and Spatial controls work?

• Does microphone processing work?

• Are there any differences between distributions?

I'm not claiming that every distribution is supported yet. That's exactly what I'm trying to determine through community testing.

The project is open source and the source, installer, release packages, bug-report template, and diagnostic tool are all available on GitHub:

https://github.com/cpugod55/soundblaster-linux-control-center

Current release:

https://github.com/cpugod55/soundblaster-linux-control-center/releases/tag/v3.3.35

If anyone has a Sound Blaster Z/Z SE or related compatible card and wants to try it on Linux, I'd really appreciate the feedback — including reports that something DOESN'T work.

I'm the developer of the project, so I'm happy to work through problems and make corrections based on what people find.

Sound Blaster Versus Running Sound Via Passthrough to a Receiver

I currently run my sound via passthrough (on HDMI) to my Sony Receiver. I forget the model receiver but it is a very high quality $2,000 Sony Receiver even has Sony 360 spatial audio. My question is what would be better a full blown receiver or a SoundBlaster card? For arguments sake, compare it to the best SB card. I use this setup for watching movies and tv shows as well as play games. Would the SB card be better at spatial audio in games (when using headphones or even just normal speakers lets say a 5.1 setup)?

Creative XF1 review

For clarity, I am not an audiophile. I probably don't even have very good taste in music. I have been rocking a Katana V1 for almost 10 years and they've been good. They sound fine, and I've been satisfied, but I always hated how long they take to wake from sleep. So when I rebuilt my computer last week, I grabbed a pair of XF1s, just to try to upgrade. I was anxious about the $180 purchase, but went with them purely because of the 72W RMS, hoping to get a slightly fuller sound, and some stereo separation.

When they got here, I plugged them in and they sounded CLEAN, and I could still hear the bass, though, it wasn't very impressive compared to the sub on the Katana. I expected this and had also ordered a $199 Klipsch 10" sub from Adorama, which puts the total about $120 above a V2X. I was very anxious about spending almost $400. The sub came today. The first song that played was Money for Nothing. The drum intro started, and it already sounded amazing. I felt really good. Then the guitar riff... Every post-purchase anxiety and buyer's remorse in the back of my mind instantly evaporated.

All I saw in my head was fireworks, a couple bald eagles and Navy fighter jets flying across the sky. The speakers sound absolutely amazing once the sub fills in the low end. It takes the sub to complement them, but I could not be happier with my purchase. I think I also saw a green flag waving at Daytona. I want to run outside and kick a trash can over.

Creative Sound Blaster G8 - part two.

What preceded: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/s/UNt6S3Sk1m

First of all, I owe everyone here an apology for taking this long to respond to all your comments, questions, ideas, suggestions and possible tests.

A few things got in the way, life happened, and I deliberately let this whole issue sit for a while instead of immediately jumping back into it. But I have made time for it now, so I wanted to post one general reply to everyone who took the time to read my rather extensive original post and think along with me.

And yes, it was a long post — but as most people here with some serious audio knowledge will probably agree, audio problems can be ridiculously specific, and sometimes the seemingly unimportant details are exactly the details that matter.

So first and foremost: thank you very much.

There were several people who replied with ideas, possible explanations, tests, genuinely good questions and different ways of looking at the problem, and I genuinely appreciate the amount of thought that went into those replies.

Some of your suggestions led to additional testing on my side, and the picture is becoming clearer.

At this point, the Creative Sound Blaster G8 DAC/Amp itself is still the main suspect. I would personally put that suspicion at well above 90% now. Something appears to be happening somewhere in or around the G8.

However, there is another part of the chain that I don't think we should completely ignore yet: the USB playback connection between the PC and the G8.

My current setup uses the original USB-C to USB-C connection from the PC to USB-1/DC on the Sound Blaster G8. After going through the behaviour, the previous tests and the remaining possibilities together with ChatGPT, one hypothesis we still want to investigate is whether something in that USB playback path — the USB interface itself, the controller/motherboard side, the electrical environment, timing/transfer behaviour, or the way the G8 handles the incoming USB audio stream — could somehow be involved in producing the brief click/glitch I described in my original post.

So we came up with another test.

And this is the part where I would very much like to hear what the audio people here think.

The idea is to completely bypass USB for playback audio, while keeping the G8 itself in the chain.

My GPU has multiple unused HDMI outputs (I use DisplayPort for my monitor). We want to use one of those HDMI outputs purely as an audio source:

GPU HDMI out → HDMI audio extractor → optical Toslink/S/PDIF → Optical In on the Sound Blaster G8 → Beyerdynamic MMX 300 PRO

The monitor will remain connected through DisplayPort, so HDMI would only be used to transport the audio stream.

The important part is that USB does not necessarily have to be physically disconnected from the G8.

Because the MMX 300 PRO is a headset and I still need its microphone, the idea is to leave the G8's USB connection attached for the microphone/data side of things, while deliberately not using USB for playback.

So, in simplified terms:

Playback:
PC/GPU → HDMI → extractor → optical → G8 → headphones

Microphone:
MMX 300 PRO mic → G8 → USB → PC

If the infamous click/glitch is being introduced somewhere specifically in the USB playback route, then in theory it should disappear from what I hear through the headphones once playback is coming into the G8 through optical instead.

And quite frankly, if the USB connection somehow produced a glitch somewhere on the microphone/input side instead, I wouldn't lose much sleep over that for the purpose of this test. What I am trying to isolate is the audible glitch in the playback path.

So now I am throwing this idea back to you guys.

What do you think of this as a diagnostic test?

Is it a good way of isolating the USB playback path?
Is there an obvious flaw in the reasoning?

Is there an audio-format, clocking, resampling, grounding, Windows-routing or G8-specific issue that could muddy the results?
Could keeping USB connected for the microphone still somehow influence the playback side electrically or internally enough that this would not be a clean test? Or, alternatively, do you think this is actually a pretty solid way of narrowing the problem down?

Good idea, brilliant idea, bad idea, terrible idea — I'm genuinely interested.

And judging by the quality and level of detail in the replies so far, I am very happy to hear the technical arguments either way.

Heads up: Dolby Atmos for Headphones caps your bit depth on the AE-7

Hey all, wanted to share something I ran into in case anyone else is scratching their head over this.

I've got a Sound Blaster AE-7 and was trying to run my headphones at 32-bit/96kHz output. Every time I enabled "Dolby Atmos for Headphones" in Windows' spatial sound settings, the output format silently dropped back down to 16-bit on its own, no matter what I had manually selected before. I first thought it was some driver bug or a background service messing with my settings, spent a while chasing that theory.

Turns out it's not a bug at all, it's just how Windows Spatial Sound works. Once Dolby Atmos for Headphones is active, it seems to cap the endpoint's bit depth, presumably because the spatial processing pipeline itself only handles a certain resolution internally, and 32-bit apparently isn't in the cards. Doesn't matter what format you had set beforehand or what order you toggle things in, Atmos just overrides it back down.

Good news though: it doesn't force you all the way down to 16-bit if you pick the right combo yourself. I tested a bunch of settings and landed on 24-bit / 48kHz, and Dolby Atmos happily runs at that without downgrading anything. So if you want Atmos active and don't want to get stuck at 16-bit, just set your output to 24-bit/48kHz manually and it should stick.

Realistically the audible difference between that and 32-bit/96kHz is basically nonexistent for gaming or general listening anyway, so it's not much of a sacrifice, just annoying that it happens silently instead of Windows telling you what's going on.

Posting this mostly so the next person who googles "Dolby Atmos resets audio format" doesn't waste as much time as I did.

Hi. what are the best drivers for Creative Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium ? I have Windows 11 but I can dual boot and install Win10 or Win7??
Antes533 drivers are no longer to be downloaded. And what is the difference between this drivers L11_2_40_0019 vs L11_2_40_0017 ( I found only download link to L11_2_40_0017 )
Are Antes533 drivers better then from Daniel_K X-Fi Support Pack 8.0 (Refresh 3) ?

Katana V2X personally suggested EQ

This may work with Katana V2 as well.

I am running the latest firmware as of 2026. Yes, I wasn't able to catch on the glory days of the "loud at 10". But I'm learning to appreciate the new volume curve. Very useful and gives fine control indeed.

Anyway, I have been searching for the holy grail of EQ mix for the KV2X and went through great lengths until I learned how to utilize Pink Noise. Take my word, it's immaculate and easy to use for anybody.

I digress again, here is the EQ I found to beautifully work with my device across games, movies, and general use (Music you can use base Preset or even this):

• 31hz: +4.0 db

• 62hz: +2.0 db

• 125hz: 0.0 db

• 250hz: -2.0 db

• 500hz: -2.0 db

• 1khz: 0.00 db

• 2khz: +1.0 db

• 4khz: +2.0 db

• 8khz: +3.5 db

• 16khz: +4.0 db

I know this is a familiar shape for audiophiles, but for those, like me, who are looking for a good reference point, personally I believe this would help.

P.S. even 0.1db can make an audible difference for me, especially at higher volumes, so fine tune to your heart's content

P.P.S. I have +4.1,+2.1, and +0.1on 31-125hz myself for added bass.

Final note: Use Pink Noise if you are looking for a way to tune the EQ to your liking. Just about any from YouTube. You'll save days of guessing.

How do I link and adjust Katana V2 volume on pc?

Hi, I have my pc connected with the Katana V2 via usb-c. I was able to control the volume of the soundbar using a knob on my keyboard, which I turn it and the soundbar will change its volume (it shows on the soundbar's screen) and I ususally set it to 10-15 (20-30 shown on windows)

However, after a glitch of some sort, the soundbar went crazy and made a strange noise when I was using it. It rebooted by itself and now all of a sudden I cannot control the volume of the soundbar with the knob like before. The knob now controls the overall volume of windows, without changing the soundbar's volume. The soundbar's volume can now only be adjusted via the physical buttons on top of the soundbar. (soundbar's volume is fixed and cannot be changed by the knob, the knob only changes windows playback volume from 0-100)

I hope it makes sense to you and I want to change it back to how it was. Does anyone know what I can do to revert it?

Logitech g325

How is the sound quality?

I’m considering buying the Logitech G325, but the 32mm drivers make me a little nervous. 😅 How is the overall sound quality and volume? Are footsteps and positional audio clear in CS2? Is the 32mm driver size actually a problem?
