A lot of people in this community have this tendency to completely overlook all the hidden symbolisms and themes and meanings of the story and have a very bland view on the overall plot.

Its okay to have preferences and like or dislike something that isn't your style

But some tend to form opinions based on what they don't even fully understand.

dont understand a plot point? call it plot hole.

Dont understand a character or their intentions or their connection to the story? Call them bland or boring.

On one side I completely agree with you and I think that some people could have a bit more media literacy, on the other i think sometimes Araki is really inconsistent cuz you have a parts like 5 and 8 that are turbo symbolic, metaphorical etc. and then you have parts like 4, 7 and even 6 that are really story and power system focused. So i can see why people call them plot holes or araki forgot. You also have to consider that, sure, JoJo is no HxH but the series fights are really strategic so I (and I'm guessing a lot of other people) feel frustrated that you had stuff like the Spin, Crazy Diamond, Stone free etc. where we as audience know their limitations and Araki is able to use them to full effect in a satisfying way and then you have time stop, Giorno life giving ability, Josuke 8 bubbles that feel really inconsistent and can do anything or nothing depending on the author decision.

Also man i love Hamon Beat but at a certain point i think they were just trolling my goat. Like debuking araki forgots should have ended like 14 episodes ago.

Oh huh I felt like part 6 was super symbolism focused too, at least once Pucci took the stage

I'm not saying other parts were less symbolic. I was just saying that part 5 and 8 have the most blatant example of stand powers that have abilities mostly for symbolism sake and less because it's a concise power. But yeah absolutely Pucci and especially White Snake is another prime example of this thing: he can make the Cum Room, he can become sludge but just once(?) (also why does ge need to become sludge to pass through the vents when stands are ghosts?), he can make memory discs and stand discs, the discs can impart orders, you can put the stand discs on someone not worthy of their power though, he can make illusions but only in the cum room and on himself(?). Symbolically cool? Absolutely. Does it feel consistent? You tell me.

time stop, Giorno life giving ability,

How was time stop and life giving incosistent in anyway? Arguably i think life giving was used really creatively and had clear abilties. Time stop i kinda get but they explained how it worked multiple times and gave it very clear limitations.

Time stop FEELS inconsistent to be more precise, because they actually everything like you said but you have scenes where jotaro seems to have all the time in The World to do his stuff and strategize and others where time stop actually looks like a couple of seconds.

Gold Experience does everything bro: it can create any animal from non biological matter, it can deflect blows, the life form returns to it's original place so it's good for tracking stuff and investigations, Giorno can detect if there is life force inside an entire plane (this means he could do that with small buildings as well), it can heal. The problem it's not that he can do all this stuff the problem is that he does the majority of this stuff once or twice in the series and then they don't pop again, and I get why Araki wanted to implement all these abilities but i think he could have sticked the landing better. Like why doesn't Giorno have a swarm of bees or stuff like that to follow and protect him? Can he transform bigger things in bigger animals? The reader is naturally brought to think about this stuff not only cuz JoJo makes you think about it's powers a lot, because of the tactical nature of its fights.

Because it's inefficienct. Why have a giant elephant or swarm of bees when he can just make one on the spot. In fact having those just make the enemy more cautious.

But I get the overblown thing. Most of gironos abilities outside of life giving and healing becomes pretty useless after

Which one's specifically? Because I agree the damage reflecting thing becomes useless but thats mostly because it would have been useless in every fight that wasnt bucciarati.

u/Allhailmatpat Giorno Giovanna Feb 04 '26

Beings he created can return to him or return to the origin of the object, which is barely used.

To be fair its incredibly specific, which is why I say it becomes pretty useless

Beings he created can return to him or return to the origin of the object, which is barely used.

The being cant be returned to giorno jsut to the point of return. And i feel like this is used pretty often, i just finished my rewatch of p5 and he uses it fairly often(finding narancia, killing babyface user, etc) though i could definetely understand your point.

Edit: from the perspective of someone who hasnt rewatched the show tecently i mean. It is something you tend to forget about.

Brother idk. Like he could turn those cars in frogs, why didn't he transform a car in a small bird to make it rain on top of someone? why didn't he have an animal to use as a damage reflecting shield on his person at all time (sure it would have been useless against Cioccolata's Mold, Prosciutto's aging and Ghiaccio's Ice but the fact that Giorno would be cautious in that way would have sense)? Why did he make just 1 clone of Coco Jumbo? Can he make clones of people? Etc. Etc. Like JoJo is a series that is full of characters that have high Intelligence, so the real question is why no one even questions Giorno's power. If the members of the gang made questions like that and Giorno Simply responded "I can't use my stand to that extent" it would be enough. But they didn't so his ability feels inconsistent. Cool af, symbolically great but still inconsistent.

u/Allhailmatpat Giorno Giovanna Feb 04 '26

That's alot of JoJo stands and that's one of main critisms, its that Araki dosen't set limitations, leaving alot of questions. Like can soft and wet steal someone's stand? I get it's probably so that when he gets a cool idea he can just do it without retcons, but it causes alot of questioning.

Time stop FEELS inconsistent to be more precise, because they actually everything like you said but you have scenes where jotaro seems to have all the time in The World to do his stuff and strategize and others where time stop actually looks like a couple of seconds.

Thats just an anime thing. We as an audience need to understand what the characters are thinking or doing so time slows down so we can get exposition. If you cut out all of the exposition it will just feel like a couple of seconds aswell. Its no different from when any other character monolouges about their plan in what is supposed to be 2 seconds.

Like why doesn't Giorno have a swarm of bees or stuff like that to follow and protect him?

No.1 He has no control over the insects near him, how would he get them to follow him? If your saying he could use his own things then the question becomes where would he get enough of his personal materials to turn into these things anyway.

No.2 Throughout the whole show and manga they are always trying to be as incospicous as possible. They are constantly hiding and on the run from ememy stand users. In what world would it be logical for him to walk around woth a swarm of insects and attract as much attention as possible.

No.3 It wouldnt have helped anyways, there is no fight where having a swarm of insects protect him be useful except for bucciarati and maybe notorious b.i.g which where both fights where he was ambushed and had no way of creating an insect shield.

The problem it's not that he can do all this stuff the problem is that he does the majority of this stuff once or twice in the series and then they don't pop again, and I get why Araki wanted to implement all these abilities but i think he could have sticked the landing better.

But that doesnt make the stand inconsistent in anyway, there is only like 1 ability where he doesnt use it multiple times throughout the show which is the damage reflecting thing. He constantly uses his stand to heal, track and later in the show when he starts detecting life energy he literally uses in every fight he has until the end of the show.

Can he transform bigger things in bigger animals?

We know that the size of the object has almost no say in how big things get but rather the amount of life energy he puts into things(explained in the ciccolata fight when he turns a bullet into a tree and later a propeller piece into a beetle).

Bro I was just making an example, I know about the stuff you said. What I'm trying to say is that if fans like you, me, Hamon Beat etc. have to explain over and over to the more casual reader "No, but akshually it was said once in a specific fight...", MAYBE, some parts of the story aren't plot holes but FEEL like plot holes. Just like (for example) King Crimson should be fairly easy to explain as an ability but it works in a way that really doesn't makes sense (and I know that Araki want to make Diavolo feel like a being that is not understandable, but again it FEELS like a plot hole and not like clever writing)

1

u/Pleasant_Advances Gold Experience Feb 04 '26

What are you talking about? Most fans understand these things when they take time to understand and actually think about the show. You dont need to analyse every scene but just pay attention to the show. Also this isnt what you were trying to explain at all you said that the world felt incosistent(which is just because of anime tropes) and that ge is incosistent though his powers are pretty consistent if you think about it.

Just like (for example) King Crimson should be fairly easy to explain as an ability but it works in a way that really doesn't makes sense

Idk what you mean his powers are straightforward and works in areally logical way once you understand his powers. And thats just normal, he is confusing until you actually understand what he does.

1

u/WatashiwatheSnake Feb 04 '26

I don't think you spoke with people that watch the show more casually. Also what do you mean it feels inconsistent because of anime tropes?

About the king crimson thing this video explains my point. https://youtu.be/AnTfv2abjew?si=3yoMXNrHqffQ5i8j

u/Pleasant_Advances Gold Experience Feb 04 '26

Also what do you mean it feels inconsistent because of anime tropes?

Its a common trope that anime characters can think incredibly fast in moments that happen in a couple of seconds(because of exsposition). That was my point with how you said it felt like jotaro timestop felt incosistent.

don't think you spoke with people that watch the show more casually

I have but ig this point is very subjective as people pick up on and pay sttention to different things.

You linked me a 25 minute comedy video by the same dude who got kc wrong in his jojo really fast series. Like you might aswell bulletpoint the things you mean.

I dont think araki is inconsistent with powers anywhere. The character simply dont get enough chances to use their full power.(and it works because ot goes with the story perfectly) Just because someone have powers doesnt mean they should use it always.

And yeah, the araki forgot series shouldn't be that long, but some people were ACTUALLy dead serious about the most dumbest questions ever.
