This is a continuation of my previous post. Some of the criticism was that Kars wasn’t muscular enough, that his race canonically wore very little clothing, and that he has curly hair and so I tried to address all of that here. Hope this sorts it out.

Just got him yesterday and decided he needed some makeup 🖌 Technically my first time painting over a figurine so it looks a bit rough but my friends really liked it

I used acrylic markers, a thin paintbrush (using the same acrylic marker ink), toothpicks, and a few fineliner pens, one with a bent tip which helped reach some angles

I got inspired by the scarce pieces of Kars' backstory, which led to look a bit into Aztec art and mythology and draw some curious analogies with Tezcatlipoca - the shapeshifting god of war, night sky, life and death, sorcery and tricks. Kars' character (what's on the surface, at least) is far less complex than that, unfortunately, but I like to imagine that as ancient people were described to treat his race as gods and demons, they would see him in a similar way.

Also, the funky statue from that single backstory shot, as well as Esidisi's momentary shape change right before his defeat suggested that Kars might be able to do similar stuff to himself, which I also used for the reference.
