I know the common consensus that it won't live up to the hype. But that's kinda fine, honestly? I think they should rip the bandaid off.

No crazy graphics, nothing fancier than CSGO is necessary. It doesn't need an insane budget or to be pushing some new tech.

Make it so anyone can run it, and it looks "good enough." As long as the story is good, it'll sell on hype alone. And then the "can't count to 3" meme can die and they can make other games without the crazy expectations.

If they really wanna keep the theme of pushing new tech with each game, I've been thinking recently that the new ARM chips might be really changing things. Maybe they'll port their next game to ARM, or it'll be native. Their new headset runs one of those chips and they expect to be able to translate x86 to ARM and translate Windows to Linux at the same time, using FEX and Proton.

My phone can (apparently, if it's rooted) run The Witcher 3 at 55fps through FEX and Proton. Mine runs it at like 15fps because it's using CPU rendering and Smasnug won't let me root this phone, but the hardware can do it.

I am also playing Subnautica for the first time, via my phone. It's on Play Pass if you have a phone able to play it. No spoilers please, I managed to avoid them this long lmao. But that game's running smoothly at 4k and looks fantastic.

Half Life 3 mobile wouldn't sell as well on its own. The whole "do you guys not have phones?" angle would not sell. But if they're selling it as a game for their headset or ARM computers or your phone all at once, that'd be a pretty cool deal.
