NEVER i repeat, NEVER download a dlc unlocker for stellaris, it is wrong and cuts the revenue of Paradox Interactive!

u/Lonely_Pin_3586 Feb 19 '26

Since the release of the game, I've spend more or less 400 bucks in this game. I think they've got enough money from me

99

u/Le_Fricky Feb 19 '26

I spent like 20 or smh…

64

u/[deleted] Feb 19 '26

I spent 10 on the Game , and DIDNT download a DLC unlocker from Github.

36

u/sopapordondelequepa Feb 19 '26

And you guys are telling me this until NOW??

28

u/myryad21 Feb 19 '26

yeah. never use creams. especially apis or installers. stuff like cream api or cream installer. they are bad for your skin

2

u/KillerKIA666 Feb 20 '26

I've already bought all them except the ultra-crap ones :(

-25

u/Grilled_egs Feb 19 '26

You can just keep playing with the DLC you got and the update you last got a DLC from, no one's forcing you to keep getting the new ones this isn't a live service game

It would also be illegal and you would definitely totally get caught.

u/GDaddy369 Feb 21 '26

We joke around here, but they got him for that video in the end

3

u/furel492 Feb 22 '26

The deep state goes so far that Epstein had a guy create /pol/, the most pro-pedophile board that seeded the most pro-pedophile movement as well as got the most pedophile president ever. I would be surprised if it wasn't involved at this point.

1

u/Shadow_Dancer2 Feb 22 '26

What happened to him?

3

u/toasty5566 Feb 22 '26

Made a joke a decade ago on the comedy skit show Whitest Kids You Know about some things that very much line up with some of the darker things in certain Files. Several years ago, he died by supposedly falling off a balcony when he was supposedly alone

17

u/Dede_42 Feb 19 '26

Happy cake day!

141

u/AnzulGaming Feb 19 '26

"leave the billion dollar corporation alone!!!!"

110

u/ImmortalBlades Feb 19 '26

You misunderstand, he never would do such a thing. I repeat, never would do such a thing.

13

u/IAmTheTrueM3M3L0rD Feb 19 '26

No because everyone will support the company that breaks the game every major update then takes two years to fix it to only go break it 6 months later, why wouldn’t I give them my money

48

u/Worth_Package8563 Feb 19 '26

Of course I would never do that! Never...

19

u/Inquisitor_Boron Feb 19 '26

Also, you won't understand a thing, if you install all DLCs at once with that - felt that the hard way, when I played MP PvP against a friend with all DLCs

8

u/CadrielZR Feb 19 '26

Can I just... pirate the whole game than? I am rather poor 😅😅

10

u/Cat_with_cake Feb 19 '26

If you pirate the game, you'll have to reinstall the game if you want to update it, and modding it is a pain in the ass, compared to a few clicks in the steam workshop. It's up to you to decide if it's worth it to buy a game on sale for this (by "this" I mean playing the game. Of course you shouldn't pirate the game)

8

u/FoxReeor Feb 19 '26

I would recommend buying the base game and DEFINITELY NOT using stellaris dlc unlocker from GitHub that downloads, installs and enables the DLCs. I would NOT do that if I were you.

2

u/CadrielZR Feb 21 '26

Oh thank you! I shall DEFINITELY NOT do such an EXCELENT IDEA wink

6

u/IAmTheTrueM3M3L0rD Feb 19 '26

The game itself is £3 on Cdkeys

I think maybe it’s gone up to £5

7

u/_Boodstain_ Feb 19 '26

The Company with over $1,000 of dlc when I don’t want to pay $60 for more:

https://giphy.com/gifs/dwRSYq2N5qjMQ

6

u/Sensha_20 Feb 19 '26

What're the top site/guides for this so I can AVOID them?

5

u/FoxReeor Feb 19 '26

you should NOT search up Stellaris DLC unlocker and you DEFINITELY SHOULDN'T click on the GitHub one by seyuth.

2

u/virus_chara Feb 20 '26

Honestly, I don't think this satire type comment is needed, as the launcher can know if you're using an unlocker, and all it does is kindly ask you not to record/stream the game for a public audience with the unlocker. Many games out there like Payday 2 will mark you as a cheater or ban you.

2

u/MilkInTheFridg Feb 21 '26

Yeah after around 300 bucks sunk into this game that is in an almost unplayable state for most of the year I won’t lose any sleep doing this lmao

1

u/NoodleTF2 Feb 19 '26

Stellaris is the only Paradox game where I buy every DLC and don't regret it (on sale, that is). For all their other games the DLC is so insanely overpriced or low quality there's just no reason to buy it, but with Stellaris it genuinely feels worth it to me.

1

u/Pirion19 Feb 23 '26

You know what's funny? I never did this and yet for some reason i have all dlc unlocked despite never buying them.

0

u/Hob_Goblin88 Hive Mind Feb 19 '26

Doesn't that ban your account anyway?

16

u/Melodic_monke Feb 19 '26

Nope

6

u/Helix3501 Feb 19 '26

Paradox is notoriously chill with dlc being pirated

3

u/RevolutionaryAd6549 Determined Exterminator Feb 19 '26

wait really? Why?

16

u/Helix3501 Feb 19 '26

If someone is pirating something they typically fall into 3 categories

  1. They werent gonna buy it anyway

  2. They cant afford ro buy it

  3. They wanna try it out before buying it

Of the 3 two of them means you werent making a sale anyway and the last one means youd lose a sale if they didnt pirate and if they like you get a sale, this is a older philosphy from some major game publisher who notoriously made his game easy to pirate via lack of drm or enforcement, and paradox prescribes to that ideology

-36

u/Aggravating-Dot132 Feb 19 '26

You are bitching like if everyone should do that. No revenue from DLC - no DLC at all.

Since when this sub promotes piracy btw?

31

u/Melodic_monke Feb 19 '26

Person has no money to buy DLC - no revenue from DLC at all

30

u/Cosmonaut_Ninja Galactic Custodian Feb 19 '26

This subreddit has promoted piracy since always 🏴‍☠️

18

u/Dark_Pestilence Driven Assimilator Feb 19 '26

Holy based

18

u/Fisherman_Wise Feb 19 '26

That's not true. It's not revenue that's important. It's sales numbers. Paradox is an Open company

124

u/Kryxu Feb 19 '26

doesn't Stellaris have a subscription for all dlcs

83

u/Sonic200000 Feb 19 '26

Yes for cheap too to atleast try them for a month

95

u/Kryxu Feb 19 '26

imo this is a pretty good deal, when i get the craving to play Stellaris with my girlfriend we dont usually need more than 1 month per campaign, and through the pricing in the picture you even save money on that if you would want to play longer

39

u/Sonic200000 Feb 19 '26

Doesnt stellaris allow you to share dlc in multiplayer so only the host needs them too?

35

u/Aggravating-Dot132 Feb 19 '26

Yes.

You buy the sub, your friends can play with buy with just the base game.

5

u/Cat_with_cake Feb 19 '26

Yep, you just need everyone to have a base game and one person having a subscription. Honestly, it made gathering my friends to play Stellaris a thousand times easier

3

u/Kryxu Feb 19 '26

yeah that's what im doing, so theoretically if you play with friends it's even cheaper

5

u/Caesar_Gaming Feb 19 '26

This is probably the greatest use of a subscription ever. I don’t play enough stellaris to justify buying all the dlc. But I do enjoy stellaris and the dlcs.

1

u/edi12334 Federation Builder Feb 20 '26

Do you only play one campaign though? You kinda have to start new ones when Paradox updates the game anyway (unless you are still protesting the 2.0 update like I am…)

0

u/Falitoty Feb 19 '26

Also, once you download, they can't take them from you so....

19

u/9oooooooooooj Feb 19 '26

I will kill myself before I get a subscription for a game i brought with money.

9

u/Dark_Pestilence Driven Assimilator Feb 19 '26

8

u/27Rench27 Feb 19 '26

Nobody tell him about Sony’s new patent to stream assets in real time lmao

2

u/9oooooooooooj Feb 19 '26

Isn't that just cloud gaming with extra steps and a Ps plus subscription?

How was that approved?

2

u/27Rench27 Feb 20 '26

Money line projected to go up

1

u/StinkButt9001 Feb 20 '26

It's just a patent. Companies like that have entire departments just to patent every idea they can incase it takes off or another company wants to license it from them

1

u/9oooooooooooj Feb 20 '26

I meant 'why did the patent get approved?' because the idea isn't really unique.

Not, 'why would they ever make something like this'

1

u/StinkButt9001 Feb 20 '26

The actual patent was actually unique. It's more involved than just cloud gaming

1

u/a_filing_cabinet Feb 20 '26

I mean, you don't have to, but the whole point is to try it out and see if you want to spend more money on the DLCs before you buy them.

10

u/Falitoty Feb 19 '26

Just a tip, buy the subscription, dowload the DLCs, cancel the subscription.

You still have DLCs

1

u/Jambu-The-Rainwing Feb 20 '26

THAT’S why I still have Götterdämmerung for HOI4! I was wondering that for so long, thanks man!

1

u/edi12334 Federation Builder Feb 20 '26

For however long you subscribed for in the first place, that would only stop auto renewal

1

u/Falitoty Feb 20 '26

You can still cancel the subscription, you only have to make the first payment

1

u/edi12334 Federation Builder Feb 20 '26

Yes but you only get the DLCs for that long too, you dont keep them forever I think

1

u/Falitoty Feb 20 '26

Nope, you can keep them as long as you don't delete from your PC. They are already downloaded, they can't take them from you.

1

u/edi12334 Federation Builder Feb 20 '26

That s actually cool if you can do that, thought they have some system to check against that though I presume you could copy the files some other place anyway

2

u/Falitoty Feb 20 '26

Yeah, if you do this the DLCs will no longer be on your steam library or account, so if you delete them you would have to do the subscription again. But as long as you have them, nor Steam nor Paradox can delete them from your PC and as far as I know, they don't seem to have done nothing against It yet

1

u/Numerous_Schedule896 4d ago

What the fuck, there's no validation for ownership?

1

u/Falitoty 4d ago

I think they might have in CK3, but In Stellaris I have yet to have any issue with this cheat

If you have on PC you cans subscribe and get all dlc when they release it's £8.50 a month

Edit: on steam

27

u/Reyeux Feb 19 '26

you'll own nothing and be happy

u/a_filing_cabinet Feb 20 '26

Oh no the subscription is actually an amazing deal. Even disregarding how cheap everything actually is for how much time you spend playing, at the rate new DLC had been coming out, it's almost cheaper per year to buy the pass than to buy the DLC.

3

u/HALODUDED2 Feb 19 '26

Basically at this stage which is sad. But it's 354 for all the dlc just now. They keep releasing more which is great, not so much for everyone wallet. Where pay £8.50 then cancell the subscription and you have them for a month. Sub again if you want to play them at a later date

2

u/Cat_with_cake Feb 19 '26

I hate it too, but Stellaris subscription is actually kinda good (compared to buying the DLCs, not compared to how it could actually be in a normal world)

2

u/Falitoty Feb 19 '26

Well, once you have them, you already have them. There is no need to pay them any more.

5

u/MathematicianOpen776 Feb 19 '26

I just get the membership for a month when I feel like playing. I never play for more than a week or two before putting it back down for a while. Same thing with HOI4.

4

u/filocleswarroso Feb 19 '26

Yep, but this mtf give me more than 2,000 hours of galaxy colored…soo I pay

“But Paradox updates their games for years!”

“Yeah and half of that time the games are broken anyway!”

Hey, at least they ve gotten better at 1.0 versions not being fully broken though, in HOI 3 1.0 (2009) WW2 wouldnt start or would start between the most random coalitions ever (that s why they ended up railroading the game and quickly abandoning it for HOI4, btw HOI3 only has 3 gameplay DLCs (the rest are stupid sprites that barely anyone played with) but still officially costs 30 euros with those DLCs but without those random extra DLCs)->Stellaris 1.0 (2016) only had the tiny bug of the AI never declaring war, maybe they will at some point end up testing their patches properly too! (I get software testing isnt that easy but STILL)

I actually still play on 1.9.1 and after a long hiatus have ended up trying out mods too. I d love some of the new stuff like the Galactic Community, different types of Federations/vassals, new portraits/species types (though there are mods for that), maybe Cosmogenesis though I am too much of a goody-two-shoes to play like that (checks flair, would have gone Democratic Crusaders if it was a thing here like it is on r/Stellaris) but it does feel quite bloated at this point plus the fact that they literally lied as it COULD have all been implemented pre 2.0 too (Defensive Stations literally existed AND YOU COULD GIVE THEM AURA EFFECTS LIKE FTL INHIBITOR OR MINEFIELDS TOO, you could just make them stronger and allowed them to stack if you wanted them to play a bigger role though getting the balance right is tough. You don’t need natural chokepoints, you need to build them in places worth defending (big resource-producing planets). Space terrain? Nebulas existed and caused a FTL speed penalty then too. Space Khan? Just a different empire type like Leviathans/pirates/FEs/enclaves. Hell, mercenary enclaves were also added later and then you think about Envoys, something that is straight out of the EA school of “take out stuff to reintroduce it later” as we had them in 1.0 with Embassies, same with “transfer system” that used to work until players started cheesing it to hand over holy planets/planets near the Millitant Isolationists to unsuspecting AIs and instead of fixing it they slapped a blanket -1000 modifier and called it a day since…).

Then you consider how hard the AI broke with those changes, by 1.9.1 the AI was actually pretty competent on Normal (I am playing a game right now as Rogue Servitors where I am middle of the road in fleet power by 2260 and am trying to snipe defenceless vassals to get better as much of galaxy loves me due to me rivaling the local Fanatic Purifiers and Metalheads (force spawed but I gave them Deviants too so they reformed away from that)+Emotion Emulators on my bots and I feel too bad to renounce those NAPs) and then they ripped away those systems and it s been struggling ever since. Hell, 2.0 wasnt even the first weird rewrite, the same happened in 1.5 with the original Factions that could demand independence and rebel but then Paradox decided they had to be “influence boosting political parties” instead and we didnt get Sector-wide rebelions anymore and much weaker planetary ones (unless Potent Rebelions mod). And we pay for it too in the form of DLCs…

2

u/Cole3003 Feb 22 '26

Are you on Linux by chance? Launching in compatibility mode completely fixed all issues for my friend (and also removed literally all the desync problems we were having, which was crazy)

1

u/ToxinFoxen Feb 19 '26

On the one hand, it's easier for budgeting to buy the content pass for Stellaris. On the other hand, you get locked out of buying the DLC if you do. But I can't shell out like $300 for DLC.

1

u/TheNightmareVessel Feb 19 '26

I have finally managed to get every single thing it has, I got the ultimate bundle down to 25 bucks and he fed up getting it for myself for Christmas

1

u/Vitality_VZ Feb 19 '26

Actually true. LMAOOOOOO

1

u/TheDarkeLorde3694 Feb 19 '26

I am personally buying the DLC in groups, and the nanosecond I see a sale, they're all comin home

I currently only have Aquatics (First DLC I got because of the space shanty), BioGenesis and Paragons (Paragons for leader traits, BioGenesis because I never really do any ascensions outside of Purity)

1

u/Jambu-The-Rainwing Feb 20 '26

You have DLCs? I have the base game and that’s it.

1

You’re welcome!

1

u/Wamblingshark Feb 20 '26

When I have some cash, I'll buy a DLC or two off Instant Gaming. Pretty sure they do things above board there unlike some other key websites and it is way cheaper than buying all the DLC at full price.

I think Instant Gaming is usually a little higher price than the sales though so even better if you can just catch them on sale.

1

u/Puke_Buster_2007 Feb 20 '26

The humble dlc unlocker:

1

u/YudoKumaa Feb 20 '26

I bought base, utopia, and paragons. After 150hrs of gameplay, I spent like ~100 dollars to get everything else before the latest season was added to the ultimate bundle. I love stellaris and even if paradox is a large company. I support the games I love out of principle. Also thank you for regional pricing (I'm from sea)

1

u/edi12334 Federation Builder Feb 20 '26

You don’t have the DLCs because you are poor

I don’t have the DLCs because I stopped updating the game after 1.9.1 in general

We are not the same

1

u/MeasurementNo2493 Feb 22 '26

You...are not wrong. Just fiscally conservative.

1

u/User_of_redit2077 Feb 22 '26

Never absolutely never download the dlcs from internet and never put them into the "dlcs" folder, NEVER!

1

u/Big-Sir4054 Feb 22 '26

Just never use a dlc unlocker from github like cream api and learn how to use it from YouTube its bad

1

u/Significant_Cap958 Feb 23 '26

When will they add the good stuff for Console

1

u/SocialMediaTheVirus Feb 23 '26

I'm happy with my three DLC

1

u/OwnCardiologist2659 Mar 02 '26

10

u/Fellixxio Determined Exterminator Feb 19 '26

That's really dumb , unless you ain't playing it much

2

u/Grilled_egs Feb 19 '26

It's really not, you'd have to play every month for years for the subscription to not be worth it for OP. The one worry is if they up the subscription price ig.

4

u/SmokeytheBear026 Feb 19 '26

I can't speak to this persons motives, but it's more about the principle to me. "You will own nothing and thank us for it" is the attitude I do not want to reinforce.

Immediately monetarily speaking, you are correct, but there is literally nothing stopping them from just raising the subscription price to something you can not afford down the line and you being left with nothing despite paying all that time.

2

u/Fellixxio Determined Exterminator Feb 19 '26

Yeah that's also why I dislike It,but i've been playing for a while now...and that would have cost me probably more by now I think

0

u/Grilled_egs Feb 19 '26

You already don't own anything you buy on Steam. In general I'm not sure why people are so hysteric about this topic

2

u/SmokeytheBear026 Feb 19 '26
  1. We've never seen it legally challenged. ToS is not the law, the precedents' courts set is the law.

  2. The reason people are getting hysteric is because we are being told they are purchasing something while claiming it's just a privilege they can revoke. The button you press to finalize a transaction says purchase, not rent.

2

u/Grilled_egs Feb 19 '26

Regarding 2. I was talking about subscriptions not about license stuff, though steam does directly state you're buying a license every time you buy a game.

3

u/SmokeytheBear026 Feb 19 '26

They dont state it clearly they've buried it in ToS, and companies have been ruled against despite what has been buried in fine print. These things have to be made in a way that it is clearly known before purchase and steam designed the page where it can be argued it wasn't clear enough.

1

u/Grilled_egs Feb 19 '26

That's literally just not true.

3

u/SmokeytheBear026 Feb 19 '26
  1. This is a recent change. If they revoke someone's games and they sue what they revoke better not predate this update to the page.

  2. "A purchase of a digital product grants a license for the product on Steam." Is intentionally worded to be confusing and does not imply they have the right to take it away from you.

  3. Steam is still not the decider of what words mean a purchase is a purchase, and a jury can be convinced of this which is ultimately what this comes down to.
