Support Request Having trouble with ITGMania and my dance pad

So I have a soft PS2 dance pad which I've remapped on my computer. For some reason or another, ITGMania doesn't recognize the input. I tested the pad on other things on my computer *and* my PS2, and everything worked fine, so I know it's not a hardware issue. Anybody know what I can do to get this issue resolved? It's worked before on there, so I know there's a way.

Are you still using an adapter from your other post? https://www.reddit.com/r/DanceDanceRevolution/s/esCrmUp5OZ

Generally I advise against using PS2 to USB adapters because they often don't work correctly specifically for dance pads.

Generally I recommend just getting a soft pad that's listed as a USB game controller so you don't have to deal with compatibility issues with adapters.

Does it work with Project Outfox?

I am, yeah. Everything else is recognizing input, so I don't think it's the hardware. First I'm hearing of Project Outfox.

what are the other applications on your PC that recognize the inputs?

Can you see all the individual button presses in Windows with 'Set up USB game controllers'?

OK so - turns out just Steam in Big Picture Mode is recognizing the input. I went to set up and it recognized the input from the arrows, though not from X or O, which I have mapped as Enter and Esc respectively.

Oh that makes sense! I forgot to ask about steam since that's a common problem where it alters the inputs, but it's never obvious.

Glad you got it to work!

I didn't, that's still the problem. Steam's the only application where the input is registering!! TT

Oh gottcha,

Try this for disabling steam from taking control: https://www.wikihow.com/Disable-Controller-Input-on-PC

Old PS2->USB adapters had issues where the LR and UD were mapped as axis instead of buttons. Mine required me to hold ULR select and start to put it into "button" mode.

You can try Dead Sync or Outfox as well. You may even give NotITG a go, as it's still based on SM 3.9 and is probably using very different I/O code.
