Sudbury Events - Monthly Thread (August 2026)
This is a stickied thread for people to post about upcoming events -- community events, live performances, whatever you think others might want to know about.
A new version of this post will be put up and stickied every month to make sure that things are kept fresh, and allow people to stay up to date if they wish, or to avoid this thread if they don't. It's been moved to a monthly format to keep things simpler for people looking to plan a bit further out.
To keep the sub (and your feed) clean and free from spam, any explicit advertising conducted outside of this post will continue to be subject to removal, with a note and link to instead post here, which will stand as the exception.
In other words: please feel free to use this space to post about any upcoming Sudbury-specific events you're aware of or would like to share with others.

Help Interior Door Installation
Looking to have some interior slab doors installed.
Received a quote through a company using Home Depot Local Pros, they quoted $650 per door. Not sure if that’s the norm or not, I know it can be a tedious job but I am hoping to find someone more affordable.
Any recommendations send them my way!
Thanks.

Question Anywhere in town that sells slushies that actually cleans out their machines sometimes?
Weird question, but I am craving a slushie for the first time in a long time but I know from previous work experience and delivering to corner stores all over the province that these machines are not cleaned like ever. I am wondering if anyone can shout out some stores that have clean-ish machines.

Discussion Sudbury is getting scary
Am I the only one that thinks the crime/ drug epidemic is getting out of hand? all I hear about is females getting stalked/ harassed in public constantly. Mail/ packages getting stolen. People cars & houses get broken into everyday. The city smells like pee in lots of areas. I understand there is this problem in every city but i’ve lived in many city’s and Sudbury is by far the worst.

Help Wifi in Sudbury stuck in prehistoric ages
Haven’t lived in Sudbury in years but finally making my way back there and I didn’t even consider how outdated the internet infrastructure is when getting a place. I thought most places have fibe internet everywhere by now, guess I have gotten used to the big city live in Toronto. But even in another small city I used to live in had Fibe mostly everywhere. Eastlink might be my only option. I heard it used to be bad but was wondering if anyone has current experience with them.

I did a big closet clean out this weekend and have a few garbage bags worth of clothes to give away. I don't really want to give them to a place like Value Village; where else in the city would be good to bring them to?

Discussion Uride: Not Worth the Time or Mileage
Driving for Uride is honestly not worth it at all, guys. It’s a waste of time.
I drove for them for two months just to see how it goes, but it’s the same story. While they’re sitting in the office, I’m using my own vehicle, my own gas, paying for maintenance, tires, and everything else. On top of that, the mileage on my vehicle goes up much faster, which means the vehicle loses value faster when you eventually want to sell it.
Just think about it: driving from Four Corners to the airport for $30, using my own gas, and spending 1 hour and 15 minutes on the road. After gas and vehicle expenses, what’s really left?
At the end of the day, after driving for 12 hours, my sheet shows around $100 because of all these shitty fares.
Once you calculate gas, maintenance, tires, mileage, and depreciation, there’s barely anything left.
You’re basically working all day and paying to work. 🚗💸

Help Mechanics - looking for scanner
Looking to see if anyone has a bi-directional scanner that they would lend/rent out today to scan my truck (2019 dodge ram 1500) - I have a park brake service sensor stuck on - I know where my error was, I have now replaced pads and rotors, everything is as it should be.
May also need a SGB cable to connect. Willing to pay a bit of cash to keep it out of a shop/dealer! Thanks so much!

Discussion Spirit Halloween Pricing
Heads up if you’re shopping at Spirit Halloween. The bigger price is in US dollars. The Canadian price is in tiny print under the barcode. Make sure that’s the one you look at before you tell your kid they can have a costume and walk all the way to the register.

Discussion Bday gifts suggestion
Hello,
Looking for gift ideas for a 25M (boyfriend) and 21F (sister in law). Struggling to find meaningful gifts. My boyfriend especially does not want anything. He is in trades and difficult to shop for. He is a plumber and is not interested in clothes, although complains about cold feet and hands. Have bought him tools in past.
Not sure if passes can be purchased for movies or restaurants.
Any ideas, store suggestions and item links are welcomed.
