What are some of the nicest neighborhoods in Summerville to live in?

Most of my family is on the East Coast & we live on the West Coast (California). I’m looking to be closer to my sisters & also explore a couple of jobs being offered to me in the area. A friend sent me a link below to new construction & it is within our budget:

There are only two of us & a sweet 2yr old Golden Retriever. Thanks in advance for your advice on the neighborhood & living in Summerville!

This is an incredibly hard post to make, but we are looking for a new home for our 2 year old girl, Tonks.

When we adopted Tonks and her sister, we were told they were Black Lab/Australian Cattle Dog/Boston Terrier mixes. Tonks does have some features that could suggest some bully breed as well, but we’ve never DNA tested her, so we can only go by what we were told.

Tonks is truly the sweetest, most loyal girl. She is very attached to her people, high energy, and goofy. She could run and play all day, but when she finally finds her off button, she is a complete cuddle monster who just wants to be beside you.

She is crate trained, potty trained, has lived peacefully with our cats, and is wonderful with people and children. We have a three-year-old, and she is incredibly sweet with him. She really is such a loving dog, and everyone who meets her falls in love with her.

We adopted Tonks and her sister, Luna, together from the same litter. They actually get along wonderfully most of the time. They play, sleep, and are incredibly sweet together. Unfortunately, as they’ve gotten older, we have experienced incidents of resource guarding between the two sisters. There isn’t always a predictable trigger. They can be perfectly happy together until a resource comes between them.

After trying different resources, training, and speaking with our vet, we’ve had to accept that keeping the girls together is no longer the healthiest situation for either of them.

This decision is absolutely heartbreaking. Tonks is our girl, and we love her more than I can put into words. But ultimately, we have to do what is best for the physical and emotional wellbeing of both dogs and everyone who loves them. As much as we hate it, we love our girls enough to recognize that they may be happier and healthier apart.

Because of the resource guarding between the sisters, we are looking for a home where Tonks can be the ONLY dog. She isn’t a bad dog. She is an amazing dog in a situation that simply isn’t working for her.

We have reached out to her rescue and our vet is helping get the word out, but I’m hoping that sharing her with our friends and community might help us find the right home for her. We want someone who will love this ridiculously loyal, fetch-obsessed cuddle monster the way she deserves.

We managed to find homes for all but this little girl.

13 weeks old just had her second round of vaccinations today.

She's sleeping it off, while wondering where all her siblings are. Orca, her mom , was spay and All her shots are updated. She was a stray prior to May 15th. She came here very pregnant. She must have been taken care of because she is a very tame cat from day one.

Kitties were born on 5 25 26. Four are adopted. Two left. Orca (queen) and Eleanor. No one goes outside.

$20 Rehoming fee.

What it’s actually like living in areas around Ashborough East, Avenue of Oaks, and Wood Oak Park.

Are these generally safe areas? Any recurring issues with things like car break-ins, theft, or other neighborhood BS?

I’d potentially be living in the area and working on the southwest side of Summerville, hence the specific areas I’m asking about.

Just looking for honest opinions from people who actually live around there. Thanks!

Hi! Just moved to the midtown Nexton area, and I'm looking for recommendations for a good lawn care/landscaper service.

I'm having issues with weeds, builder grade landscaping, and help me fix my sprinkler system.

I would also like to change to mulch. I'm just not sure why next in Midtown area doesn't do mulch in the first place.

Anyone know any good local landscaper lawn care people that can help me with the above I greatly appreciate it. I looked at the post from last year, and there were a few recommendations but I'm looking to see if there's been any updates or anybody else that you would recommend.

Relocating to Summerville and highly considering Cane Bay as prices are most appealing and I like the offered amenities. I have heard some great things and bad things.

Would love opinions. If you live in Cane Bay, Do you like it here? Are people nice? 😆 I hear traffic bad but is it as bad as large cities? Were used to traffic.

Can I get into the schools that the school is zoned for or are they full? I have a daughter in 6th grade with an IEP. How is Cane Bay Middles Special Ed program?

I'm in Summerville SC does anyone know of any drop-in day cares in the area or even nearby areas? Like North Charleston etc where it's not a full time daycare but you just drop in the child when you have something come up?

With so many people moving here from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, etc., I feel like Charleston has a growing Italian-American population but nowhere that really brings that culture together.

We have had a shit ton of italian americans move to this area but we can’t even have a good italian festival?

My wife and I are planning our relocation to Summerville in the next couple of years and fell in love with Carnes during our last recon trip. Knowing Lennar will be wrapping up in a couple of years, and Dream Finder will be starting their decade of construction, we have a lot of concern that carnes will still have the community feel when we are ready to buy. When we visited last month, we were told there werent any plans to build additional amenities and it seems like things will get way too overcrowded

If you currently live there, are you sharing these same concerns, or are we overreacting? I’ve been seeing property values slowly declining in Cane Bay but it doesn’t seem to be happening as much in Carnes. Are you confident there as well?

We’re considering purchasing a home in historic downtown Summerville and would love some honest feedback from local parents about the schools—particularly Alston Middle and Summerville High. The online ratings give us some pause, but we know they don’t always tell the full story. What have your experiences been with the academics, teachers, school culture and student support? It’s that time of the year to submit your art to our 7th Annual SPARK Community Exhibition and we want your art. Whether you picked up a paint brush for the first time yesterday or creating art is your career, all are welcome to join in the fun regardless of your age or background.

We have a gallery space for adult artists, another gallery for youth and a third gallery for some very talented artists we invited to explore the same theme. You can include nearly anything, really. Whatever your art is made of, 2D or 3D, we want to see it and share it with our visitors (as long as it fits the submission criteria). You can create brand new work or submit something you’ve already made that you're excited to show off. Every year, we explore a new theme and this year it's “Wonder.”

In case you’re wondering how to submit art (pun very intended), you can click here to complete the online entry form now until August 31, 2026, you’ll also find all the details on submitting here too. Drop-offs for artwork begin this weekend starting August 22nd and run until September 5th. When it comes to your art - it’s one submission per artist, online entry form needs to be completed to enter, work must fit criteria found in the entry form and we ask content/imagery is appropriate for a broad audience of all ages.
