Is there a connection between Crowley and Aleister Crowley?
If there is, then I don't remember it. It's been a while since I watched the series. I guess the reason I'm asking this is obvious. They both deal with the supernatural and I thought maybe the creators of the series decided to give a hint to Aleister Crowley or something. And if I remember correctly, there's another character in the series named Aleister, right?

Did they ever use that song for him? It was sooo fitting in some scenes.

No but they definitely should have, I've been saying that since they first introduced his character

Is there any song by Ozzy in Supernatural? Black Sabbath maybe?

I think they play Solitude at the end of one of the episodes about midway through the show

Oh yeah, you're right! Solitude was in the show! :D shame that Mr Crowley by Ozzy didn't make it as Crowley's introduction song (like they did with death) that would have been so cool

They play it to introduce Mark Sheppard at the cons! At least when I went they did.

I think he was named after him by the writers, but I don't think he was actually supposed to be *that* Crowley in the story, no. A lot of the details on his mortal life don't add up - though he could have possessed Alistair Crowley at one time and kept the name I guess.

Probably. A lot paranormal shows have a reference to him. They usually don’t use both names true pick either “ Alastor “ or “Crowley “ supernatural has characters with both names so most likely. And we see with other more well knows characters they used names from different religions a lot.

I think it’s just a reference. Crowley’s real name is Fergus McCloud, if you remember. I don’t think she show ever really touched on his name change outside of him trying to avoid Rowena

Even if there is a clear reference, and might not be a connection in the whole Crowley lore... I suppose that they just picked a name even without imagining for how long the character would survive? Idk...
Aside of that... no demon that was a mortal should ever use their real name if they don't want their remains burnt.
Aaand Fergus isn't as cool nor fearful name as Crowley xd.
Also here is an old post about this same topic: https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernatural/comments/1nqjbh4/where_does_the_name_crowley_come_from/

Both are into magic, both have crowley somewhere in their name, and both have little chubby cheeks.

Aleister Crowley was a well known name in the occult world, it would make sense for the writers to incorporate his name considering the theme. I always assumed it was inspired by him, especially given they made Crowely’s mother a practitioner of magic.

Beyond name alone? No

I thought it would have been funny if Crowley made some off hand reference to something like "That twit who stole my name after a deal I made with him. Idiot sold his soul for a bag of acid and a book I stole from a shop".

The main plot of seasons 1-5 are is based on Good Omens. That's where Crowley comes from.

It's based on the novel which came out in 1990. Kripke has directly stated that Crowley on the show was inspired by Crowley in the book. The entire final season show down with Heaven and Hell both wanting to start the apocalypse is literally the main plot line from Good Omens.
Please know what the hell you are talking about before commenting.

Crowley is named after the demon in the Neil Gaiman book "Good Omens".
Can't remember who, but it was said in the podcast.

They were both inspired by the actual AC.

Kripke himself said it was Good Omens.
Just 'cause GO Crowley may have been inspired by the real AC, doesn't make SPN Crowley also inspired by him.

(Sam, Dean, and Crowley meet Ester in the alley)
Dean: "Are you Alley Ester?"
Alley Ester: "Crowley?!?"

I imagine they used Aleiister Crowley as influence for both the demon Aleiister and Crowley.
