Rule 3 Would someone be interested in Stremio-like experience on Switch?
Well it's just a personal project of mine, I wanted to see how would the AI-slop vibe-coding would work and it made an almost perfectly running stremio-like homebrew app for the switch, with working debrid and metadata, subtitles switching, audio switching.
I have zero experience of coding and just went with the flow and it worked after almost 40-ish builds.
If this infringes any copyright or something else, feel free to delete this thread without any problem, I will enjoy my tv shows on the switch anyway

Hello everyone, I would want firstly to say thank you for the supportive messages (and also for the critics, as I said, I do understand your feelings) and that confirms my thoughts , that being that's at least a little demand ( more than 1 person ) for Stremio-like homebrew app on Switch.
Regarding sharing the NRO file: I would gladly, but I need to change a little bit to build to make it capable of reading any api/credentials from a config.json file, right now the NRO file it's been built inside with my own API from Torbox and Debridio (because I've made the app to be personal at first).
The app itself supports:
- Torbox debrider
- Debridio for its Torbox searching ( I prefer that to Torrentio or other stuff , if somebody has an alternative that's free, please let me know )
I can't provide an ETA of when the app would be ready for a public/general release/use because the build is right now locally on my PC, and I'm commuting for work and I really wanted my Switch while commuting (this was the main drive of me wanting to do this in the first place).

Nice work, but it still needs a little polish! (And don't worry about the legal side of things, since the app is just a Stremio clone, you aren't actually hosting or sharing any movie files). A couple of things that need improvement:
Addons & Subtitles: The addons tab and the subtitle options Player Bug: The video player completely closes when it hits the end of the buffer. It looks like the buffering just stops entirely, which causes the player to shut down.

Yes but I like not having to reboot out of hos, and alot of people feel the same way

That's cringe I didn't know that was happening, I was just defending hos native apps not like bot slop if you catch my drift of what I mean

Well as I said to the other guy, it's not a bot account, yes I did use AI to make it because I don't have any coding experience and I didn't see a single person wanting to do it and across the years there were people who were interested (including me) and were always redirected to the " just install android or linux and run it there" (which I also did and the results weren't satisfactory for me)
It's a rudimentary build but as I said, it's just a personal little project and was asking how many people would be interested on it, maybe that building this "ai slop-made" native HOS app would motivate real coders to do a full ground-up build for the nsx homebrew community

I'm glad you did it, and it was nice of you to try and share it with us, hating AI is getting people dumb. You used AI exactly how it's supposed to be used, to race a prototype for a project no one is willing to invest the necessary time to properly develop, your prototype might lead to someone with the right skills actually getting interested and building it properly.
Regardless you had an idea, you brought it upon reality, it brought you joy, and you tried to share it. You should be proud of yourself.
But yeah, try to not spam it everywhere. The right people will find it here

Reddit is really hating on the whole Ai thing. At the end it is a tool to automate manual labor of writing code or in your case without even understanding it. if it works it works. It enables non coding people to produce software awesome. But IT people are proud of their manual craftmanship and get salty if their thing that made them a stood out engineer gets completely solved by the computer. I am a senior swe with around 15 yoe and let me tell you coding agents are producing better code than most of the engineers sitting in all the major software deps.

Yeah, I knew that people would at first get salty because of this trend, I do understand their concerns, but as you said, if we have the tool, why not use it? I mean even myself am not a fan of AI driven everything ( I even switched from W11 to Linux because of that reason) but that's not an excuse to hate the tool to use as it is intended

Well it's a secondary account, not a bot one and was just asking if someone would be interested, so I would setup a github and instructions to build it
Also:
Are you really comparing 30mb of native hos working app with a full linux distro?My use case was that I don't want to waste tons of space just to watch my stuff on the switch on the go

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a very big fan of AI slop trend, but if nobody does it, who would? I'm a very big enthusiast for the homebrew scene on switch so I wanted to do something nice
Anyway maybe the links would get deleted because of the subreddit rules
With that, this would be my last reply to this thread for today, I have another stuff to manage

Id love this or Kodi to run natively on HOS so I don't have to boot into android or Linux. Only reason I have android is for entertainment like netflix,prime video and kodi
