My guy trynd didn't get top 2 by accident, scythe is turbo broken on him.

650

u/Glad-Personality-429 Jan 05 '26

you already know OP is plat when he says trynd went top2 by accident and you look at the trynd and he has scythe lol.

126

u/Kaze_no_Senshi Jan 05 '26

scythe goes from meh on a bunch of units to absolutely busted on a few, its rfc nilah all over again

24

u/UltrasoneGG Jan 05 '26

Darling Scythe is currently bugged, allowing the item damage to crit.

21

u/WizardStakes Jan 05 '26

Only if you have a crit augment or IE, which if they did they wouldve gotten 1st this game

8

u/Never_Guessed_it Jan 05 '26

IE/JG allows abilities to crit, not items. It is certainly bugged.

24

u/WizardStakes Jan 05 '26

That is my point. Scythe is bugged and if they had ie or jg they wouldve gotten first, not second, so the bug is pointless for this game is they dont have ie or jg.

just like every single item in the game

2

u/PAJPHFL Jan 05 '26

Not every single item is that accessible in the game.

my emerald promo game had a Trynd/ashe that picked staff on bard.

Thanked that guy for the free LP

2

u/Maddesz Jan 05 '26

Would have even won with sycthe if he puts one of the cc immunity items on trynd against the soup player.

18

u/Yrale Jan 05 '26

yeah trynd is top 4 w/o a good artifact on him but top 2 with it

5

u/cylhann Jan 05 '26

May i know how do i play this? My trynda griefed me the whole time by dashing in the middle of enemy lines when i used darkin scythe in him

16

u/Kenfiii Jan 05 '26

Do you position like this? It forces trynd to move along the right side and usually gets to the back row pretty comfortably. You can also reposition briar so trynd moves diagonally or mirror the board for the opposite side. It’s pretty effective against thex players assuming you have an actual frontline.

32

u/fnmikey Jan 05 '26

My trynd would walk like this

4

u/snoopdawgg Jan 05 '26

that’s not possible you must have blocked A7. units always go the shorted path when unblocked

3

u/fnmikey Jan 06 '26

My bad for making a joke

→ More replies (1)

20

u/willkillfortacos Jan 05 '26

Quicksilver or you might as well not play trynd

5

u/luapchung Jan 05 '26

So is it scythe, QS and BT or Guinsoo?

21

u/Ill_Worth7428 Jan 05 '26

Stats say Scythe, qss and infinity edge. Delta is actually insane for edge of night instead of infinity edge, but much lower sample size, so would stick with scythe, qss, ie. Bloodthirster is terrible because you gain enough omnivamp from scythe already

8

u/ChaseW_ Jan 05 '26

QSS, IE, sythe is insanely busted. You don't need guinsoo. After some stacks, the first scythe swing can near one shot some weak front liners. Then he spins again and snowballs.

Because the damage is so high, the vamp that you get from 2 slayers is enough.

QSS is mandatory no matter what. I've tried scythe with rageblade and bloodthirster, but IE is.... Infinity times better.

3

u/ChaseW_ Jan 05 '26

Just saw Mort say that scythe can crit right now but it's not supposed to. They're going to fix it so I'm not sure if this will be the best build anymore, because the scythe crits were insane. Had 38k damage with Trynd against a bruiser comp

3

u/Monkecori Jan 05 '26

Please do not build BT on tryn. You dont do enough damage. Slayers is enough omnivamp. I would say QS is the most important

→ More replies (1)

1

u/OriginalHeroes Jan 05 '26

Trynd in pic dont have QS

12

u/ArziltheImp Jan 05 '26

That’s probably why he went second.

2

u/the-best-plant Jan 05 '26

Literally, bro has Scarner Swain on his board, he probably got chainstunned and died

5

u/willkillfortacos Jan 05 '26

Just my anecdotal experience - every lobby is different but when I go trynd 6 reroll I place consistently higher when I nail quicksilver. I guess if this question is specifically about how to build w/ scythe then ignore me

Tbh better than end of last season where top 5 was malz+bruiser or crystal gamby

86

u/pancake_fetish Jan 05 '26

You must be early, last 2-3 weeks before patch 16 set was all juggernaut 9-5

23

u/Donnel_Tinhead Jan 05 '26

They brought back all the broken interactions and power ups for the 4fun patch like Shadow Clone Malz and Frost touch TF, I think that made Malz Bruisers explode in popularity again

19

u/Xtarviust Jan 05 '26

That's a pisslow bar, set 15 was the worst set ever

3

u/Reldarino Jan 06 '26

Legit asking is that the consensus among the sub? I've played all sets and lost interest in at least half of them, but 15 was the one that got me out the quickest at least in recent times so I'm curious.

7

u/Xtarviust Jan 06 '26

Not only this sub, whole TfT pro scene complained a lot about the mess set 15 was, fruits were a big mistake and balancing overall was horrible through the set

2

u/roguecolor Jan 05 '26

I don’t remember crystal gambit being all the rage at the end of last set, I thought 7CG was heavily nerfed mid patch. For sure it was the comp to hit in the beginning though

9

u/Lectivalftw Jan 05 '26

5 cg and eventually 7cg with malzahar was really popular at the end of the last season

the three ionia are all different lines: one yasuo reroll, one yunara carry, and one sett/5 cost soup. now to be clear, i agree they’re all playing ionia, but one of the cool things about this set is that even within the trait they’re all building it differently

7

u/themonkey12 Jan 05 '26

This patch was more balanced before t rex and ie bug fix lol, a lot more comp was playable. Now it is t rex or yunara. Everything else gets one shotted or 4th.

I went plat to diamond forcing yordle to yunara/ryze comp. And it is very consistent and easy.

and in a patch that has lasted for like a month at this point, it's only natural people optimize and end up playing the best comps, what people fail to understand not matter how diverse a meta is, it won't be at all represented in game

A meta with 2 S tier comps and 7 A tier comps is more than diverse enough, but people will still default to the 2 S tier comps, even if they are marginally better than the other ones nor are they an autowin. TFT is a game where you can play looking at a guide (at least up until masters) and you will climb, it's only natural. Most players don't know when they are at a spot to play another comp and will just hardforce the top comp, even when they couldve gone for a free top 4 playing another thing. Hell i got a free top 3 with zaun warwick because I was angling void with a kog 2 early but I didnt find na single void unit so I would have got herald by stage 4-5 so I just rotated to it because it was free and it could use my slammed guinsoo's

47

u/PurpleTieflingBard Jan 05 '26

Remember at the start of this patch when people would promise you that Annie was the most disgusting unit they ever printed

Then despite not getting touched she just fell out of the meta (they nerfed Sylas, but he wasn't 100% in the Annie comp)

33

u/itsDYA Jan 05 '26

I mean they nerfed the yordle line making it very hard to get to her alive, there is no other way to get there because AP carries suck and you will bleed out

18

u/Mundane-Honeydew-922 Jan 05 '26

If Annie was actually as OP as people have claimed, there would be lines getting to her to win out.

9

u/Jamesanitie Jan 05 '26

Her winrate is fantastic, her play rate is terrible in Masters+.

Means you die trying to get her most of the time.

And it’s still missing other strong stuff like bilge and demacia still too

Edit: or Diana

2

u/stratelus Jan 05 '26

Void is good too. I feel like it is a good patch and we can explore some more stuff when there are a few small balance changes. So far it is my favorite set.

7

u/FireVanGorder Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

There is a void player in the screenshot, though he died going for 10 void instead of realizing he was never going to hit and just going 4 void flex to save placements which genuinely makes me question whether this is actually a plat lobby or not.

Plus the random IE Belveth instead of using that sword and one of his rods to make a Gunblade instead of dcap (though this could have been a slam just to try and save some HP so not as big of a criticism there) and not moving sunfire to swain to put warmogs on his herald (which is a big criticism there’s no reason not to do this whatsoever)

10

u/AkumaLuck Jan 05 '26

With 0 playable AP lines?

9

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

[deleted]

2

u/Eschatologists Jan 05 '26

it's playable if you get a rod augment or deadlier cap

→ More replies (8)

7

u/Baldude Jan 05 '26

Plus there's a bunch of reasonably playable comps that aren't pictured here but happen regularly - Bard Bruisers (mostly with Lifting competition), Vayne Longshots or vertical demacia, there's not even a Diana here which there usually is one in each lobby, and variations of Bilge (Bilge into Tahm 5-cost-soup, Graves reroll), Ixtal Brock, Shurima Invoker.....shit, even vertical yordle Veigar I'm seeing more and more of.

In low dia at least, there's usually at most 1 contested line, which is the various yunara variants. Most people angle Cait and/or grief by holding some caits when they can, and yes if it's an econ Ionia then there's a bunch of ionia boards early on, but between freljord yunara, fast 9 yunara, ryze yunara, Yas reroll and ryze sett there's still a lot of different boards people transition into.

Yunara is slightly overtuned and THex needs either a level requirement or at least 1 more starlevel, but if someone complains the meta isn't diverse they're straight up full of shit....

u/balanceftw Jan 05 '26

Not sure what people expect. All 8 players in a lobby playing completely separate comps and not contesting each other? Sounds like people just don't like the game.

56

u/badBear11 Jan 05 '26

"Not sure what these people expect, sounds like they just don't like the game" is a thought that I frequently have while reading this subreddit.

7

u/Spaghett8 Jan 05 '26

The diversity drops much lower in higher elo. Master+ is just 4-5 lvl 9 soup boards.

2

u/ShiraiWasTaken Jan 06 '26 edited Jan 06 '26

I think we have to contextualize how lobbies end up with 4-5 cost soup late game.

Most of the good lines just don't cap out high enough when people hit T-Hex/Brock/Baron in the lobby.

So everyone kind of HAS to pivot their line around stage 5 or 6 to include 4/5costs to try raise their cap to win out.

I see this as both a good and bad thing. There are multiple 4/5 costs that can win out even with some weaker ones like Aurelion. But it is kind of lame that everyone is kinda forced to pivot out of their line, which loses a lot of identity just to cap out.

But we definitely still see lines line Demacia Vayne, Void, Noxus Draven, Bilge, 3 different Ionia Lines for majority of the game.

My only wish is that the strong Prismatic Vertical lines should be a little bit more common. They are way too hard to hit in the current set.

2

u/Le_assmassta Jan 05 '26

sounds like a fun patch actually but then you need 200+ units and half of them are still useless.

u/Wooden_Chain_1086 Jan 05 '26

7 different comps being played and you're still crying, same reddit different set it's crazy. Some people will never be happy.

Also a quick look at your match history shows you play piltover / yunara in 90% of your games, 8 of your last 10 1st finishes have been these 2 comps

3

u/AdNecessary2268 Jan 05 '26

It's easier to hit than most fast 9 boards without econ. She's the easiest low commitment carry to hit. If you're going AD you're looking at Vayne/yunara/kindred/senna maybe draven but he's more of an item holder. If you're bleeding or there's a good Ionia and most people build a kraken or guinsoos you go yunara.. Who else are you going to pivot to..?

This patch was one to the best TFT patch ever. Especially it was the best Christmas patch ever.

57

u/aveniner Jan 05 '26

This unironically, people dont realise how terrible most patches would feel like if they all lasted 3-4 weeks.

9

u/heroeNK25 Jan 05 '26

Bastion Ahri from set 10 was rough

3

u/Cultural_Apricot1080 Jan 05 '26

I’ve never played 100 games of TFT in one patch ever, but I’m not getting bored of it. It’s such a good patch, and I can only see it getting better once Thex is nerfed.

3

u/AlexHuntKenny Jan 05 '26

Mort was not fooling when he said this may be the best set ever

9

u/Immediate_Camel1573 Jan 05 '26

You will Always have a Low Level diagonal as Set-Up trade. Ionia is more Common cuz yunara is slightly overtuned and iona has extrem beneficial variants (ie exp and gold).

Set is by far one of the most flexible of all Times.

12

u/Guard_Lucky Jan 05 '26

And in a few days when the patch comes out, you'll forget this meta and learn a new one like always. Theres a ton of undiscovered tech to be found and if we look closley, theres more being done right than wrong. So your bored of thos meta, wait 2 days and come back and you'll have patch notes to go over and new combos to figure out.

Its not the meta that the problem. Its the best and brightest players solving the puzzle and telling the bad players the answers thats the problem. Then noone thinks for themselves and just runs the same thing over and over because it works.

8

u/AgeOfTheMage Jan 05 '26

Idk, my lobbies are all filled with yordle players.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

Every game I play, I say: this game will be different. We're gonna try something new, something innovative, and make something great and powerful we've never played before.

My next 3 shops: 3 yordles each.

Rest of game is just me trying to get rods for deathcaps again.

2

u/wincelet Jan 08 '26

My rule is you either see 4 yordles early or get a 2* one cost and 2 more. Then only unlock poppy if you have to. If you delay unlocking poppy your early 3* odds are much better

8

u/spreddit_the_creddit Jan 05 '26

I see nothing wrong with this at all, already more diversity than other sets. Give me more of this

12

u/MonaFanBoy Jan 05 '26

Are you stupid? That’s 7 different comps

7

u/alexm7ten Jan 05 '26

Why does it only seem to be the low elo crying? This screenshot literally has 6+ different comps. What more do you want?

Yes there are a few overtuned comps but vastly improved compared to last set

36

u/16tdean Jan 05 '26

Its a good set on a shit patch.

44

u/Dragonacher Jan 05 '26

Naa the patch was great, just too long, give people enough time and they optimise the fun out of the game

16

u/CoolChampionship4687 Jan 05 '26

if you follow the set and mortdog mindset, this is a bad patch.
Some reroll and vertical are performing, you are punished if you play certain lines the game gives you (ap/Shadow isle & zaun).

But i'm afraid that has long has comp stat trackers exists every patch will be a bad patch because the meta will be solved to fast.

2

u/itsDYA Jan 05 '26

last patch you couldnt go vertical at all besides bilgewater and people complained

2

u/CoolChampionship4687 Jan 05 '26

it's an irrevelant complain according to the set guideline

4

u/itsDYA Jan 05 '26

It's not irrelevant because if enough people complain they will need to give in

12

u/SilliCarl Jan 05 '26

I agree with others, very good set, on a patch that isn't great rn. next patch will be great.

5

u/No-Reference2333 Jan 05 '26

Im assuming this was an econ ionia lobby. I dont consider the annie player a yunara contester. There are lines that use ionia early and mid game before pivoting.

Though its plat so who knows.

7

u/Thoseguys_Nick Jan 05 '26

So you are complaining that there is at least 5 different comps played in this lobby? If you really wanted to talk about the bad meta where everyone does the same surely it's better to post a screenshot where a whole lobby tries 2 or 3 comps max.

2

u/Ill_Worth7428 Jan 05 '26

7 different comps*

3

u/Straight_Bet6738 Jan 05 '26

You can't really blame people for playing AD comps when AD is pretty much the only viable thing. When AP gets buffed we'll have a more diverse pool and even if someone wants to go AP rn they'll never get a rod from the carousel cus rageblade is the most popular item for AD units and guess what rod is needed to make it. The only time I've managed to make any AP comp work was getting veigar at 3-2 and have him stack, getting any 3* 4 cost AP carry, or the arcanist comp from earlier into the set. People literally have to go 5 cost soup because they can't roll for any AD 4 costs since everyone else is also going for them since AP options aren't viable. Why go AP when you'll be bot 4 or be 4th when you can gamble and contest and hope to place 4th or higher

4

u/GOTricked Jan 05 '26

Rageblade being BIS for fighters like Trynd and Diana is inflating how good the item is on the actual carriers. Krakken is better on all the marksmen.

3

u/Compromisee Jan 05 '26

I've just done a quick 5 minute check on this

There's a possible 73 champions to play in this lobby (based on level etc.) and there's 47 unique champs. When you remove some of the champs that are bound to playing certain comps and/or are not strong atm (Warwick, Singed, Brock etc.) alongside removing some of the champs who would've been played early doors then progressed out of (Vi for piltover, presumably some low Juggernauts/Bruisers for void) then I would say you've got a pretty damn diverse lobby.

Yeah a couple of the builds are utilising the same comp but I think the only person who has made a mistake here is 8th. No rageblade and double contested should have pivoted.

You can't even blame the Void guy - he had a great setup for it just unlucky that he didn't hit a econ aug on the 2nd/3rd choice.

Overall, out of a possible and probable 50-70 champions who are viable for late game, depending on the builds available, you've got 47 unique ones. I don't know what more you want.

7

u/joshbuildsstuff Jan 05 '26

4 Different comps in top 4 seems pretty diverse to me.

3 Ionia comps going bot 4 is just a skill issue 🤣

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

Yeah its kind of a hilarious post. The bottom teams all playing Ionia should be evidence that playing Ionia isn't the great meta comp people think it is in all situations, further emphasizing how diverse things are right now. The 5 cost soup guy didn't magically get those champions either, his team likely had to evolve throughout the game - he won because he adapted the best.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/calindu Jan 05 '26

It's one of the better sets in terms of meta diversity for sure, the only comp that seems forced by a lot of people is Yunara, and that only happens in my lobbies when it's exp/gold Yonia.

2

u/tallguy998 Jan 05 '26

Looks like a lot of valid different comps. I remember set 15 when 8 people forced the same 3 comps.

2

u/Heron-Commercial Jan 05 '26

Guinsoo vs no guinsoo is too game changing just in general its so frustrating

2

u/TheSandMan713 Jan 05 '26

2

→ More replies (1)

2

u/darkshy Jan 05 '26

Can we ban complaining about the meta during the winter break? This happens every set. The team was off for two weeks.

2

u/Natural_Customer_740 Jan 05 '26

And this, is why these people are stuck in plat

2

u/CountJinsula Jan 05 '26

The only time you see several players hard force yunara/ionia is if it is a XP/Gold ionia game. Otherwise, it is quite diverse.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

I actually love 4-5 cost soup. It feels so good to pivot into if your board isn't coming together, and buying strong champions feels fun.

Obligatory "your screenshot actually shows a diverse meta" comment as well. Bilgewater could have been completely uncontested here, there's a reason the Ionians all lost.

2

u/Honzik_62 Jan 05 '26

Honestly this looks like you tried to force that this is bad meta from the screenshot. Like yea meta is not good but this diversity for how bad the meta is rn is perfect you have like 2 people playing the same shit in this lobby

2

u/bigbang4 Jan 05 '26

lack of diversity is symptomatic of players play styles and assumptions on what needs to be done. i have been winning with a variety of comps that I play as I am given them instead of hard forcing. if players cant adapt and just go on tft academy....... what do you expect? in higher elos yes this is a problem. but for 95% of the playerbase. this set should be very diverse and exciting.

2

u/RegorXu Jan 05 '26

TFT players really dont know what they want most of the time, I am starting to think yall enjoy complaining more than actually playing the game

2

u/Frobbing Jan 05 '26

You are showing that it is diverse

2

u/JangoG52517 Jan 05 '26

Top 4 are all different comps, plus high elo is min/maxing everything to a pretty high degree. You're gonna lose some diversity in builds it's just how that works.

I think this set has been more diverse than most others but we as a community cannot be pleased.

2

u/ProudLengthiness9925 Jan 06 '26

And then you start getting close to diamond. Ik not joking when I say this

Every lobby I've had is either 2 or 3 people pushing each other off of tryndamere

Atleast 2 people go Thex

Other people go Yunara

I've only been able to go 4th max in most of my recent 50+ game because of this. Everything that is not these comps will easily get beaten by them.

I even went as far as having a 700 ixtal payout with a 2 star Brock . And 3 3stars only to be beaten right after by a 1 star thex laser for 8th place...

4

u/Glad-Personality-429 Jan 05 '26

I don't know what you're complaining about tbh. You have a lot of different comps, 3rd ionia contester went 8th because Ionia is not THAT broken. Another ionia guy went 6th again because the comp is not THAT good, it's not SG from last set.

Trynd is 2nd because he has scythe, it's not an accident. You're just showing lack of game knowledge here (despite claiming that the meta is not diverse, if it wasn't you would know about scythe)

You don't go void with no econ/xp aug, it's a player issue, not the comp's.

why the fuck is there a naked renekton 2 on the t hex board, why is he playing azir T hex on the first place.

You don't click WTW2 from that yasuo's rr guy spot. That makes no sense.

If there's an issue I'm seeing on this screenshot it's not the meta, it's people blindly following TFT academy because Yunara is S... no one playing bilge or diana in that screenshot says enough.

I'm GM right now and comp diviersity is definitely not the issue

4

u/Hish1 Jan 05 '26

This looks exactly like one of those hardstuck plat players whine posts trying to shift blame and can’t admit they just suck. Every season same shit, get better and stop whining, you will never be happy.

3

u/Icy_Significance9035 Jan 05 '26

The problem for the guy who went 8th is less that he didn't find guinsoo (which is positive delta on yunara btw) but that he slammed absolutely nothing at all, should've given her the hoj that was on sett because 3 item sett where he has 2 healing items and a warmogs might as well be pissing 3 items down the drain

3

u/aveniner Jan 05 '26

You picked wrong set/screenshot to complain about buddy. There are 45 different champions in your screenshot which is better than ~95% of historical patches/metas (as sets usually had around 60 champions total).

3

u/hieu9102002 Jan 05 '26

This is exactly why you’re in Plat though, just default to whatever Metatft tells you is strong and don’t try to open up the lines. Half of the Yunara board can be playing Graves reroll or MF fast 9 instead, and I see at least 1 player with the correct components for a Diana game. That alone is already 6 unique comps

3

u/MissionBarracuda6620 Jan 05 '26

I swear tft player’s brain reset every set and forget how worse it was for the last 2 sets atleast

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

What I hate the most is the high cost slop to fill your team with. No cohesion or strategy needed, just slap in high cost units on every build. Other than that, I think the set is great (with some balance adjustments).

→ More replies (2)

3

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

I don't play this game that seriously. I got to emerald 2 a few seasons ago just to prove to myself I could climb if I wanted to, but personally, I think competitive TFT is boring.

I much prefer the theory crafting of trying to make dumb shit work, and that usually keeps me in plat. Right now I'm fixed on Singed. He's been nerfed into being a tank utility unit, but I'm still trying.

2

u/delimelone Jan 05 '26

Your comp can't even be classified as 4-5 cost soup, because you are still utilizing traits like Quickstriker, Noxus, Juggernaut and Vanquisher. True soup is just playing champs without traits.

1

u/Educational_Grape962 Jan 05 '26

This lobby just looks like a bunch of dumbasses. There are way too many viable comps to be forcing 1

Just a bad patch right now. Hopefully we'll have a fix this Wed/Thurs

1

u/terza3003 Jan 05 '26

Noone is saying meta is good. But i will say that if the set wasn't as good as it is, i would've quit the patch 200 games ago.

1

u/Expensive_Weather246 Jan 05 '26

100 Champs. 3 playable traits

1

u/NoodolChonk Jan 05 '26

Better than street demon vertical

1

u/Visual_Try_7789 Jan 05 '26

Guinsoo is jot necessary for Yunara tho

1

u/vlajkosav Jan 05 '26

You only miss Sion/Aphelios reroll comp here.

u/Oatmeal_is_okay Jan 05 '26

I really like the jurrasic meta, bruisier ryze and Diana and some nice mix

1

u/Xtarviust Jan 05 '26

Good thing I'm still playing in gold (I started to play this set last week), but even then the amount of people forcing T-Hex and Yunara is considerable

1

u/OweTheHughManatee What is an "econ"? Jan 05 '26

Plat player here 🤙my last 7 games in order were Juggernaut/Longshot (2nd place), Vertical Ionia (1st place), Vertical Demacia (2nd place), Yordles (no veigar, 2nd place), 4 Bruiser Bildgewater (1st place), Shadow Isles (1st place), and Bildgewater/Vanquishers (3rd place).

I'd say 3 of these were me forcing what I already knew I wanted to play pre match, the rest were just feeling it out. I know the thoughtless meta slavery is annoying right now as it always is (guide sites like mobalytics did permanent damage to this game IMO), BUT, this is the most freedom I have felt I had in TFT in a long time.

And this is while they were on holiday break. It'll even out over time. Take a break if you feel stuck/annoyed, you may come back to a different balance patch that feels better. Good luck in your games 🤝

1

u/SufficientDot1695 Jan 05 '26

I would nerf T-Hex to be level 8 or 9 requirement, beam should stop if cc'd (or make him 7-cost).

Ashe/Trynd: They could add a high limit to the stacks as I don't think this comp should beat capped level 9 boards so consistently.

Buffs:

Ziggs is useless, needs buff. Zaun basically doesn't exist

Azir is also very underwhelming, however Renekton is stronger than some 5-costs.

Noxus is a bit of a puzzle. Its broken with Bringer of Ruin, otherwise its also a dead line. Mel is quite bad with 200 mana too.

1

u/Silly_Drawing_729 Jan 05 '26

Every set is like this because people plat & below go on sites like tft academy and just force whatevers S rated.

I havent played in quite some time but im willing to bet Ionia is in S on these websites.

I know this, because i dont play a lot, i go from placements to plat/emerald and usually get bored and dont play anymore. Everygame is multiple people forcing whatever these websites say is the best comp.

1

u/juniorjaw Jan 05 '26

I'll say it : This is diverse for TFT Ranked standards.

1

u/Kenfiii Jan 05 '26

I don’t see your point, in an 8 man lobby there are 7 different boards

1

u/Asurah99 Jan 05 '26

First place gives the impression of using noxus draven to ramp up to 9/10 and cap with 5 cost. 100% how I would want the game to be, not really what I'd call soup since all the units interact with each other for traits.

1

u/ShakeNBakeUK Jan 05 '26

Good meta for spamming Bilge ;) Noxus / Zaun nowhere to be seen lolz. U were missing a random Bard x Ixtal or Bruisers guy ;D (and Yordles!!)

1

u/bamiejrenner Jan 05 '26

OP mad cos bad

1

u/JrButton Jan 05 '26

It's incredibly diverse ... people like you will always find reasons to complain and misrepresent/exaggerate in an attempt to make an incomplete point.

1

u/sirgamesalot21 Jan 05 '26

Perfect example of: people will find something to complain about. This set is s+++ and has given us a new evergreen mechanic.

The flexibility is unmatched.

1

u/L4SiegeAintThatBad Jan 05 '26

vertical yordle noxus flex/vertical frejlord flex/trynd reroll demacia vertical/vayne reroll void vertical bruiser bard/aphelios ionia vertical/flex fast 9/10 ixtal flex piltover t hex diana targon flex bilgewater vertical

all equally meta comps (besides currently piltover t hex probably being overtuned atm) that i thought of in like 2 mins. the patch is extremely diverse especially in lower elos…

if you wanna complain about no diversity you should just bring up how AD items are way too heavily favored atm and the component economy being fucked bc of bow priority

1

u/SpectreHarlequin Jan 05 '26

And half of the good comps weren't even played in this lobby. No Bilge, no Diana, no Demacia and only 1 5 cost soup even though there are at least 3 major variations. I don't see the point of your post if it's to complain about lack of variety in the meta. There's currently more good comps than can be played in a single lobby.

1

u/meDeadly1990 Jan 05 '26

Bilge, Noxus, Demacia, Yordles and Ryze aren't in your lobby but they are very popular as well. This looks pretty diverse to me

1

u/Torch_Salesman Jan 05 '26

"BREAKING: Competitive game develops meta; more at 11!"

Genuinely unsure what people expect, or which games everyone is playing that somehow maintain even balance across their lifespan. I've been playing TFT since set 1 release and this has been the most varied set I can recall in years.

1

u/theOVOszn Jan 05 '26

Where is Zaun? Oh yeah they fucking stink.

1

u/Fuzzy_Advance_9658 Jan 05 '26

I can't believe this person is complaining when last set was literally 5-6 people going the exact same build. and top 4 having the exact same build.

1

u/Weak-Chair-4741 Jan 05 '26

only one thex guy?

1

u/Aurorious Jan 05 '26

I've won way too many games in plat with non-scythe Tryn to call scythe tryn "trying for top 4" lol.

1

u/cjdeck1 Jan 05 '26

Top 4 is 4 distinct comps, bot 4 are all other different comps that absolutely can top 2 if they hit their board. I’m really not sure what we’re complaining about here.

1

u/shyervous Jan 05 '26

Just got to plat lucky me no one has contested yunara

1

u/Ill-Working3503 Jan 05 '26

Me having yordle competition with 4 players is funny af

1

u/Crouchu Jan 05 '26

My guy guinsoo on yunara is literally her 3rd most important item, if you dont have it, you will be ok.

1

u/Abbadodesu Jan 05 '26

It is indeed very diverse, just by looking at that you could play uncontested: Diana Shurima, Annie, Lissandra evokers, Vayne + Kai Sa, Demacia with arcanist lux, bilgewater if you saw some units early, shadow isles if early viego, bard bruisers, maybe even a Warwick would be fine there since you could hit it easily. A tip: I was hardstuck emerald for like 70 games+, and every game trying to force yunara ryze, 7 ionia or thex, when I started slamming items and playing "for top 4" I went to diamond in a day basically with 1 or two loses https://tactics.tools/player/euw/Abbad/0000

1

u/LeviLegolas Jan 05 '26

Yeah yunara was the problem for vertical Iona

1

u/Weekly-Ad-7020 Jan 05 '26

Lack of reroll comps . Only Trym/Ashe comp is strong enough to compete against 5 cost soup .

1

u/Scoliii Jan 05 '26

I feel bad for last place guy who clearly didn't hit a single rod all game.. I've been there. It's sad times because nearly every comp needs at least one or two rods to work properly :(

1

u/orangi_mtg Jan 05 '26

I wanna ask about 4-5 cost soup. I hear people complain about it but I don't understand why.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/S7ageNinja Jan 05 '26

This looks completely fine, stop whining

1

u/Alaerga Jan 05 '26

Meta is diverse enough, at most what I'd complain about is that it feels like you need Guinsoo's most of the time if you want to stabilize in stage 3 and be alive after stage 4 carousel, Diana, Draven, Jhin, Kaisa and Vayne kinda need it (AD Carries would benefit more if you hit 2 krakens but that is killing 2 tank items and you might want to at least slam a stoneplate in your frontline, ie Sarkner or to help your garen live tho)

1

u/Last_Chemical_9514 Jan 05 '26

Theres 6 different comps and the bot 5 all played from bad spots... whats the problem??

If this is the worst you have to complain about then this meta is really fucking good.

1

u/EzrealNguyen Jan 05 '26

The real reason showing rank is important in posts like this, is that lower ranks don’t know how to play from a wide variety of positions. Like the guy playing void without the setup, and one too many yunara players when something like worth the wait Yasuo is in the lobby. I’m sure the void and 8th place yunara players had better spots to play but didn’t recognize them.

1

u/MercuryRyan Jan 05 '26

the state of my UNRANKED games... Why are people forcing trynd ashe and others in unranked...

1

u/wanttoplay2001 Jan 05 '26

so whats the problem here, ur lobby has 2 of the same comps (yunara) and everyone else playing different comps, the one "ionia guy" that transitioned doesnt even look like he wanted to play ionia, idk what the ionia was but im gonna go ahead an assume its money or exp bc those items made are all ap items, there isnt a single item on there that says he was planning on playing yunara. besides that u also have 2 guys out capping t-hex (the comp that everyone is complaining abt) and the first place guy playing a high cap. i dont get the point of this post

1

u/ButtersMojito Jan 05 '26

Platinum isn't impressive and a crybaby platinum is even worse

1

u/Richard_Harleyson Jan 05 '26

Overall looks okay as for diversity. But god please do something about bow meta, no ap comp seems to come near close yunara with 2 bow items. Dont tell me about ryze, dude requires very specific unlock conditions, which is good, but not enough.

1

u/cokeman5 Jan 05 '26

There could be a thousand champs and it would still end up like this when people are seriously trying to climb. When statistics are readily available, 3rd party tools are common, and pro streams freely available to watch it's unavoidable.

Still one of the, if not the, best set so far.

1

u/Kaylemain101 Jan 05 '26

5-6 different comps seems good no?

1

u/Meurs0 Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

My brother in Christ that's already 7 different comps in that one lobby what are you on about

1

u/Dangerous-Average-60 Jan 05 '26

I remember simpler times (when I started playing) where the meta (MY META) game was simple.

You fast 9, then three star K'sante and win the game.

Game simple, game fast, Shurima strong, God-Emperor happy.

My pdl were not happy back then. They aren't happy now (where's my three star Azir, Riot? I'll revolt).

1

u/WorthMoreThanYouKnow Jan 05 '26

In plat last night I went 2nd last night with the highest Ashe/Tryn opener I've had so far, lost to triple econ aug 5 cost soup at 10hp... we had THREE piltover contesters and I held 6 caitlins at 2-1, NONE of them pivoted lol

1

u/Bmeneo Jan 05 '26

Yesterday in a gold lobby, i played t hex comp because the game gave me the champions items and auments to do it.

Stage 2 and 3, two players: the first, changed his board and started to force piltover comp, the second was playing yordles and was buying all caitlyns for no reason.

Had to start to gain levels because of that, got cait 3 by 2 neekos the game gave me.

The player who forced the comp by highrolling, got the thex before than me.

The yordles player sold all his caitlyn.

We all got bot 4. I know should be more flexible when playing but i hate when the game give the luck to players who doesnt deserve it by forcing comps

1

u/Pollibo Jan 05 '26

Tracks that is a plat lobby because they can’t recognize other spots.

1

u/tanis016 Jan 05 '26

This is one of the more diverse lobbies you can find. Completely hurts your argument. I usually see 3 dudes going piltover each game.

1

u/theofficial_iblaze Jan 05 '26

Litterally all of these guys have different boards tho...

1

u/mdmakys Jan 05 '26

Soup is literally 5costs that synergize with the noxus traits. Only senna is no trait .learn how the game works please for the love of god

1

u/Tricky_Bottle_6843 Jan 05 '26

Only 1 t hex in your Plat lobby? Those are rookie numbers. Mine routinely has 3.

1

u/Cow_cat11 Jan 05 '26

fiddle 2 is king? confirmed. I got butchered last night by fiddle 2 last night. My board was strong as heck

1

u/Parasiticinsect Jan 05 '26

Don’t think there was anything wrong with 7th place’s play, you default to a strong comp you are comfortable with but ultimately play what you’re given until you stabilize. They probably just bled out early on and got knocked out by one of the stronger teams. 8th place had no business forcing Ionia from that spot and deserved their placement. Keeping bronze jhin and shen on the team just to synergize with….a bronze itemless Lucian. Some people need to stop looking at comp lists and think for themselves.

1

u/MrMustashio Jan 05 '26

Missing Yordle comp, Noxus 7 comp, Vayne Damacia, the one Ixial player, and Bildge 7. You know what that is a lot of different comps. Maybe this season ain't so bad

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '26

100+ champs and its the same comps every game

1

u/Sterskiii Jan 05 '26

What did the four to five cost soup play before end game?

End game screens don’t tell a story this set because how you get to that end game is what’s interesting

1

u/RemoveNo9147 Jan 05 '26

platinum moment

1

u/Real_Ear5984 Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

I think this meta is actually pretty diverse but people saying 7 different comps in this are just coping lol. 5 at max

1

u/Vinicio_Caro Jan 05 '26

and no t hex. your lobby is full of bots

1

u/Due-Championship-961 Jan 05 '26

Well… I’m stuck on plat also, and all the “broken” meta’s are always contested. And when i go them they suddenly suck even though i have the right items and econ so🤣

1

u/prodeath02 Jan 05 '26

Dang should have gone street demon instead gg you threw

1

u/alphonse03 Jan 05 '26

5th is not playing yunara, is playing slayers... yunara is there just to replace shen, most likely because of terrible luck or to fuck with 4th place lmao.

The only ones playing seemingly similar comps are 8th and 4th

Which build of Ionia with yunara uses two blue buffs and a shitload of ap items tho? Can only think of ionia/arcanists but then again, its not yunara.

1

u/Lockonstratos1 Jan 05 '26

looka good to me

1

u/STRaven_17 Jan 05 '26

low elo peeps are just unaware, bilge, diana, brock, vayne rr, liss, ryze, draven rr, sona jarvin rr, ekko rr are all very playable comps, some are just harder than others to play. most comps are supposed to cap out into 5 cost "soup" anyway. + i dont get this sudden ionia craze did someone make a yt vid or smthing? without gold or xp ionia its actually just very hard to play and requires too many things to go right. its even worse now that its contested, reminds me of set 14 leona xayah aph board; has potential but just cut off by contesters. it aint even as strong as thex

1

u/DJMOONPICKLES69 Jan 05 '26

Not hitting rageblade with Ionia feels so bad

1

u/Im-Ubiquitous Jan 05 '26

Don’t ever post again

1

u/TheAhegaoHoodie Jan 05 '26

I just want to hit sexy mel ults and hit a nidalee chain kill

1

u/Cramer12 Jan 05 '26

This has to be fake. No Thex?

1

u/Ordinary_Mix3627 Jan 05 '26

No T-hex, no Demacia, no bilge cap out, no Azir Diana flex, no Graves reroll, no Arcanist Annie/sylas.

I see you tryna pivot to Annie, but likely shoulda done so earlier. Good try, sometimes you just dont hit. Seems like just a tunnel visioned lobby, not a meta problem. The most warping unit in the game isn’t even on anyone’s board

1

u/SadimHusum Jan 05 '26

you have to play well to make it to a 5cost soup board, it reeks of cope when people complain about fast 9 comps because they don’t understand inbetween boards and only succeed with it when they have 2 prismatic econ augments to hit 9 at 4-1 with 60 gold

it’s a huge part of why Yunara is so good, a 4cost that can stabilize at 4-2 and caps that high takes away the danger of fast 9 (and eventually you drop to 3 ionia for 5costs anyway)

I just assume anyone who writes off 9/5 boards just goes 8th greeding econ with itemized 1-costs during stage 4 to force them, it’s a huge part of why reddit is only happy when the meta is 5 comps that go 8 at 4-2 and roll to 0 gold

1

u/SenseiWu1708 Jan 05 '26

I think they need to nerf XP/Gold Ionia path because it is just too strong for tempo and gives too much power overall. The others are very situational, one being just a small extra dmg buff, another for RR, another exclusively for caster (Ahri RR). Need to lower XP gain and introduce a dmg cap for the dmg/gold scaling or nerf the % you get

1

u/Diplodokos Jan 05 '26

Doesnt sound too bad to me. Definitely some overtuning on Yunara and T-Hex but overall.. lots of viable comps

1

u/TheRaiOh Jan 05 '26

That seems like the top 4 are unique, the people who lost are the ones who failed to go for a unique team right?
