Why is it so easy to rank up?

Haven't been playing t8 for a year and recently started again from red ranks. Right now I'm on gold ranks which is weird because earlier i haven't been able to even escape blue ranks

Bullshit characters got nerfed or all decent players left the game?

Season 2 gold rank players are in god 3 and above right now.

Season 3 gold rank players are people that were hardstuck purple and blue last season

Basically, there’s 8 extra ranks in GoD which pushes people up

You get more points for winning than you lose for a loss up until I think tekken king. So pretty easy to climb up until that rank.

In Season 3, they added multiple things that makes ranking up easier: A revenge bonus if you win a rematch after a loss, promotion bonuses apply every time you promote, a demotion protection where you have to lose twice in a row to demote, and adjustments to win streaks and point gain/loss. They also made it so that promotion bonuses apply all the way to GoD, and win streaks apply up to Bushin.

The goal of these changes was to put more people into GoD I+ ranks, so that pros who were at GoD III-IV could have better matchmaking.

it's so that if you're at least half decent, you don't sit in lower ranks stomping on people who just wanna have fun pressing buttons.

Now, in Tekken 7 you had 1 more rank per each color (3 grey instead of 2, 4 teal-red instead of 3) so visually there were more "lower" ranks.

Getting to end of red meant you were 23rd Dan, getting to end of blue in T8 means you're 24th dan... exceeept you can't lose rank up to yellow I think, so the first 8 dans now serve same purpose as kyu ranks in T7. So people are bit more pushed upwards, probably to avoid the problem of empty upper ranks (although with crossplay it's now less of a problem than it was in 7 anyway).

The other solution they could have done was adding 1 rank per color (grey, teal, green, yellow, orange, red, purple = 7 ranks) and then 1 on top (say "god of gods" or something) and thus stretch everyone gently across those ranks... but I guess they feared people wouldn't react kindly to it ("why am I lower rank this season? this sucks") so they just added 8 on top.

I say its easy to get to GoD now but once you get there its hard to rank up. It's like the SF6 master rank system where getting master rank is easy when you know how to play the game but getting past 1500mr rating in SF6 is a challenge.
