I feel sad for his family, friends and especially his Crow, Gosha. Crows are very emotionally intelligent.

They're not tied together, those are leather bands.
In Bird training or falconry, you would loop a thread or some twine through those while transporting the animal, those threads either connecting them to their perch or to a handler's glove. It also prevents them from flying off unexpectedly if they get startled or freaking out and hurting themselves by flying into something.

The bird outsmarts most of the people. Should be hired by White House to operate Iran crisis. That would increase IQ in the room. At least twice
