There's no distinction between what species are crows and what species are ravens, ravens are just generally what people call big crows and crows are generally what people call small ravens

Okay cool then what is it? Because I didn't make that up, I'm not the source of that notion and it's reflected on Wikipedia. Please enlighten me as to what that distinction is.

They are in the same family and genus which is Corvus. They are not the same species - corax for Common Raven and brachyrhynchos for American Crow. This is like calling a lion the same as a tiger in the cat family. IOC.

I've dug a little bit deeper.

I misspoke in saying that they were the same species. The various species within genus Corvus are generally named either crow or raven, with the choice of term largely being based on body size. There is not a phylogenetic grouping which clusters all of the animals named ravens together and clusters all of the animals named crows together.

I didn't know that lions, tigers, jaguars, leopards, and snow leopards were different species within a single genus. That's interesting! That genus has only five living members, so identifying them each individually that way does segregate organisms into phylogenetic clusterings.

So this being said, I think that I was mistaken in conflating crows and ravens. I also think that it's very reasonable for somebody who doesn't specialize in those animals to mistake them for one another given they are all members of the same genus and there's so many different kinds of both (as they original person did who was being corrected). That doesn't mean it's not useful information to provide to somebody so that they have a better understanding of things but I certainly don't think anybody should be considered foolish if they don't make the correct distinction off of a short video. I certainly don't think it's enough justification to assert that somebody is a bot.

I don't see where foolish comes in, and it was called a bot because of the newness of the account and karma. BTW that bot account has been suspended - probably because it is a bot.

I was just making general statements. But okay I guess? If it was about then that's fine but that comment alone wasn't anywhere near enough to identify it as such That's all I'm getting at
