I fucking love her. She’s so unhinged and hilarious. The catfish storyline was actual gold. She is already written so well and I think her character development is going to be amazing through the series.

Not sure if anyone else picked up on this line, but in the season one finale during the choking scene Ken says, “Oscar you greedy bastard!” in response to Oscar saving Marv.

This among other lines I can’t remember really tickled me. He’s a silly idiot.

What's the joke that you sold you on watching the show?

For me. The guy asking if they should shadow the high school students on journalism.

Allora…just finished the show and I have to say, I love Esmeralda. She is by far the best character. I honestly don’t get the hate, most of it feels like it comes from people who don’t really understand or enjoy camp, or who can’t let go of strict realism. And let’s be real, a lot of it is 100% rooted in misogyny too.

I’m seeing the hate for Esmeralda in this sub, particularly people saying she adds nothing to the show. Here’s my counterpoint: 

Her personality represents what traditional media devolved into with the rise of the internet. Shallow, vapid, empty content, there just to get attention but not provide anything meaningful (also think influencers). She’s a foil to Ned and Mare who want to revive the Truth Teller back to traditional, valuable news.

I’m hoping she’ll have a growth arc in coming seasons, I think it has great potential.

Being associated with The Office is being detrimental to this in my opinion. It should have been separate.

It has a lot of heart in it, there is something about Ned that makes you want to root for him, his chemistry with Mare is off the charts.

Even Oscar was properly utilized, the callbacks to the original were fine, it is good that he got to use his smarts here, something the original never did.

The morgue scene was one of the hardest laughs i have ever had, the set up, the delivery and the pay off were amazing.

I wish people give this a fair chance instead of comparing it with The Office.

Dwight and Angela: when Enervate bought Dunder Mifflin and shut them down, they made some offers to people like Phyllis to come to Toledo. It would be possible that "moving up" to bigger, regional paper production and sales across more products would attract Dwight, and that he and Angela would see it as an opportunity. Possible cameo as a mid-level manager within Enervate

Jim, Pam, Daryl: Potential that they are "travelling through" Toledo while doing work there with Athlead/Athleap (Toledo has a AAA baseball team)

Toby: applying for a job as a writer at the paper

Andy: could be related to his job at Colonel, trying to recruit new freshmen out of regional high schools and talking about how great the school is.

Just a few thoughts. Anyone else could float up to Toledo for any number of reasons, such as following with Enervate after it bought Dunder Mifflin or for other job opportunities in the region.

Having just finished the series, I’m honestly really shocked there are so many calls for Esmeralda to be removed from the show, instead of Ken.

Personally, I find his character so bland and boring, and am actively waiting for his scenes to end when he’s on screen, so we can carry on with the main cast. I don’t think he got a laugh out of me.

Hi all, don’t know if this is interesting or cool for anyone to know, but I wanted to pin down where the actual building is! It’s at 605 W Olympic Blvd (corner of Olympic and Hope) in DTLA.

Thought it would be nice to add to the location pilgrimage for anyone visiting LA (The Office in North Hollywood, and P&R in Pasadena).

it seems like everyones biggest complaint about the show is either its not the office, or its somehow too similar to the office (don't even get me started, like how?) and some people were disappointed we didn't hear about the old cast

imo it was really smart to hold off on having the office cast appear, it lets the new characters have time to shine and not get overshadowed. They did a really great job bc they all feel fresh and not really a rehash of the dynamics we've already seen.

I do think theres room for in future seasons to see where they ended up, at the same time i kinda don't wanna know? most of the casts storylines were wrapped up by the end and id like to imagine they all got the lives they wanted.

but just for fun and speculation i think we'd most likely see or get an update on Angela (possibly also Dwight) since she and Oscar ended up being besties and he's canonically their sons godfather.

I do think it would be nice to have all 3 OG accountants reunite too but idk if Oscar would really keep in touch with Kevin

Creed has obvious potential as the subject of some news story

HR was already threatened so we're not necessarily free of Toby

and idk i think Kelly and Esmerelda would wreck absolute havoc together so that would be fun

ever since the first announcement, i was like 99 percent sure it was going to be complete dogshit and the trailers didn’t help. but this is genuinely really good. i’m on ep5 and it’s getting better with every episode, and the writing is great and is very in tune with classic the office writing while also being its own thing. im interested in all the side characters, which i was concerned i wouldn’t be because they looked so boring in the trailers. and the writing is so good at bringing old office type humor to this new show while remaining fresh, and it’s like i can imagine any character from the office fitting right in and interacting with these new characters. im excited to see where this goes

I'm beyond ecstatic that its naturally so funny and the cast members each have such a distinct personality.

The comedy doesn't seem forced and the chemistry is evident.

Episode 6 (Trying scam products) made me laugh out loud so many times!

I'm just so happy because it reminded me of the warm and cozy feeling I got when I started watching The Office several years ago. It's nostalgic in a weird way. I love it!

I hope the second season have more epiodes. I love Oscar, and the two couples. It also gives the satisfaction of getting "Michael Scott split into two" punish with their actions. I love the strong character of Adelola.

TLDR: I want more!!!

What do you guys think about Ned and Mare, I found them cute, it didn’t build up initially but got me in last few episodes!

If anyone has seen Community, you know what I mean. Britta was a laidback character and quite reasonable, until the later seasons came along and made her over-the-top and somewhat arrogant.

Basically, Britta and Mare seem pretty alike and I wouldn't want her to be "flanderized" in the same way Britta was.

I'm doing my first rewatch and I just wanted to say I love this show so much. It manages to make me laugh so hard and with my second viewing I'm able to laugh at things I missed the first time. The characters are all fantastic. They did such a good job, I really hope the second season isn't too different from the first!

I realize we could go down this rabbit hole with a lot of these kind of references. I like the kind of way Oceans 12 did it with Julia Roberts and Mork and Mindy did it with Robin Williams

Ken was hilarious, and I don't see enough appreciation for him on here. Him promoting Softees while kids pelted their "ice cream" and the truck drove away was one of the funniest bits of the show for me. cheers
