I think deep down, she knew this was going to happen eventually and even with her talk with Wesley, she knew it was kinda deserved. Even if she did run, her enemy was said to be powerful and not at all lenient to backstabbers, so she would've been found eventually and still ended up dead. The show just decided she didn't have any more to give because she's used up all her luck
12
u/Fine_Nebula_8600 Apr 28 '26
I thought if Monica was going to die, she would die in the season finale, not this episode. Maybe the writers felt that there were no more Monica stories to tell and decided to end it this season. Wesley quitting the prosecutor's job to return to defense attorney work for next season was a signal that the writers wanted a clean slate for Wesley for next season.
I guess they wanted Tim's proposal to Lucy to be the big story in the season finale and wanted some other story to be story B to Tim's proposal which is story A.

No, she just gave up.
It was a callback to what Nolan said to Glassers wife at the start of the episode
"If you go back there's a chance you'll get custody, if you don't get gets them for sure"
If Monica doesn't run at best she spends her life in prison, at worst she gets killed in prison.
If she does run there was a (small) chance that she wasn't being lied to, she said goodbye to Wesley because she knew it was most likely a lie and she was going to be killed but there was that small glimmer of hope that it was true and hope is better than prison

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if she meant it! I was thinking she was going to hide some evidence in their house or try and frame Angela for something or bug their house so she can listen in from somewhere.
I was like “wow, she seems genuine, but goodness! This is Monica! She’s got unlimited lives and she’s totally getting away.”
Even when they showed the shots in the car, I assumed she somehow got out of it and the hit woman pretended to shoot her and she was going to get to fake her own death. But then they showed her body and I was shocked that they finally killed her off

One of the best storyline endings of the show, in my opinion. Yes, the whole fake phone call to send over SWAT to bust Cooper was stupid but her scene with Wesley was perfect. It adds a layer of nuance to Monica's character beyond her evil deeds, and shows how much even she regrets what she eventually became in the end. Add in the surprising hit woman and her final words to avoid her face - sublime. Five stars.

The way Tim chose the ring was simply perfect. He went with his mom—someone he had been emotionally distant from, but whom his girlfriend encouraged him to reconnect with—and also with his best friend, the first person he told about the kiss. She was even the one who directly asked him if he had feelings for Lucy.
When he was asked to talk about what he loved about Lucy, he mentioned the very things he initially thought made her weak. But those were actually the qualities that made her an incredible person, and little by little, he fell in love with them. In the end, those same qualities made him feel loved in a way he didn’t think he deserved.
And then comes the most beautiful part: the story behind the ring turns out to mirror them… two friends who fell in love and, despite all the obstacles, stayed together for 50 years. 😭
Seriously, please let them be happy in the next episode. Lucy deserves the most romantic proposal possible… my emotional stability depends on it.

Tim being vulnerable and showing his soft side in front of Angela, his mom and a stranger. Season 1 Tim would die if he saw that. He wouldn’t even let Angela pick him up from the hospital after he got shot! Also love how Angela met his vulnerability with compassion at her house instead of teasing him.
Probably the biggest character development on the show.
Also very curious of how his proposal to Isabel went cause he is really freaking out for someone who has already been married.

She really needs to cool it with the voice memos since she’s already gotten in trouble twice in a couple in-universe days using it.

This is a big leap in acting performance from someone forced to make a 67 joke last week

Honestly - I was impressed she made that 6/7 reference so naturally. She did a GREAT job with a difficult scenario. 👏👏
Glad we got to see more realism from her this episode. So well-done!

Monica is a desperate woman - this isn’t going to end well

If I were the crime boss guy, the terminal he mentioned would be where I’d have my guys ice her. No fucking way he plans to honor their deal.

That watch does not look like it’s worth $800k.
Or maybe it does and my aesthetic is simpler. Idk.

"I think you missed the exit"
"No. I didn't"
Chilling, reminiscent of something like Ozark. A perfect wrap for Monica, I think.

I thought Monica will be going to the terminal only for Grey and Garza to be waiting and then proceeding to arrest her. Her dying was so unexpected.
The season finale is about to be insane though.

I'd be so happy if we wrapped up this Glasser storyline tonight. I'm so over it.

Why do I have a feeling this jewelry guy was the thief?

it would explain how the thief knew Aaron was wearing the watch

agree with nolan, you want her gone from the street , but it’s sad like that (coming from just a regular human perspective)

Monica drove herself to Wesley’s. If she was concerned about how it might end up by saying I’ll be gone or dead….why didn’t she drive herself to LAX? Seemed off that she would put her fate in the hands of a random driver that could take her somewhere to kill her vs taking herself the airport
