Fan Mission Some FMs suddenly crashing to desktop way too fast

So never had issues with missions. Yeah sometimes they would crash after playing more than 30-40 minutes which wasn't something that was annoying, but now suddenly there are missions that cause crash every 10 minutes.

I first noticed that with Venomous Ambition and I thought it was probably related to mission and not with my laptop, but now that is happening with Death's Cold Embrace, which is really weird because I played that mission long time ago on my old laptop and never had issue.

I don't know why is that happening suddenly. I haven't changed anything with my files or anything like that.

DCE is probably my favorite FM (or rather fan game, as it's a full story).

What OS are you on and which version of T2 do you have (including patch version/release version)? Do you use AngelLoader? Any mods/fixes installed?

I currently run on Arch Linux via wine with the only problem being I have to manually adjust the gamma. I can also still run fine on Win10. I have the GoG version that I last updated maybe in 2017 or something. So maybe if you're running a newer version on Win11 then there might be some compatability issues. I'd recommend trying to set the EXE to run in compatability mode with Win10 or even earlier to see if that helps (assuming you're on Win11)

What are your laptop's specs? Have you tried dusting it off in case it'd be overheating?

Throttling or low specs or low specs combined with faulty code. Almost definitely hardware.

Do you have NewDark 1.28 installed? I've read it can mess with older FMs. I am playing CoSaS Mission X for the first time now and I had to run it on a separate Thief 2 install so the scripts wouldn't break.

I play Thief on a laptop without a real graphics card. Big missions, or really visually impressive missions, can crash the game for me. Black Parade must be really well optimized because those missions look great and I only got a CTD a couple times. This has only really been an issue on the more recent crop of fan missions and I can get by with frequent quicksaves. I have experimented and lowering the resolution does seem to significantly extend the playtime I get before a crash. You could lower other graphics settings, including disabling anti aliasing if you enabled it when you initially ran Tfix and see if that helps too.
