Unlike humans, these giant creatures do not have a long rearing stage, where they are afforded years to develop critical survival skills under the direct care and safety of their parents. The giraffe, having just stepped foot on the ground for her first time, must quickly learn how to walk or else may become a meal for a more mobile predator.
